We have a Taneyfest gathering in January. Excellent time to meet OAF members and eat well. Oh, and we fish also.

BREADED Pork chops on the Blackstone. This is the recipe I found and used. I went longer than suggested, it was 160 degrees, and still a little pink. I was happy none the less. https://olebluedog.com/parmesan-crusted-pork-chops-on-blackstone-griddle/

I've said it many times, I was that kid who was helped many ways, by many people. In some ways, I still am. That kid probably said thank you, but does not understand the value just yet. So, please let me thank you. I was always respectful, but it took many years to understand the benefits I've been given from many just like you. Every one, please take a second out of your day to smile at someone. If you have any opportunity to assist, open a door, pick up something dropped, or just give a smile, please do. Life is tough. Real tough. We all need help. Sometimes it's just a fishing trip. Sometimes it's just a smile. Yet it changes their world. And may just make you feel good.

Been in KY for a couple weeks. Stopped in at a couple distilleries. Got to fill and label my own bottle. Learned a few things while here. The label of "Bourbon" is only able to be used if it was made in the USA. Otherwise it is whiskey. Bourbon barrels are only used one time. Others reuse them for other drinks, and other uses. But not for Bourbon. There are typically only 3 ingredients. Corn (at least 51%), rye, and malted barley. Well 4 if you include the water. When it is first brewed, it is clear and very strong. I forgot the exact proof we sampled, but it was very strong and tasted HOT! The color comes from the barrel and the aging. Depending on the location of the barrels and the temps in the rick house, the whiskey colors may vary. Here you can see the char from the bottom of the barrel we dispensed from.

I've heard the tales of the spoon. As well as the furry caterpillars, and so many other old tales. I have a wild persimmon tree in my back yard. I'll have to see if my results are the same. Gonna be a week or so.

I did have an instant issue with allergies when that happened. I didn't feel any covid style symptoms other than sore throat and sinus issues.

Forgive my ignorance, but as most of you all know, I grew up as a city boy, and my parents weren't outdoors people. What is the significance of the collar? Why must you be more careful? Thanks.

Looks really good!! Can't wait to see it get slimed.

FFS to be banned in tournaments.
Daryk Campbell Sr replied to Daryk Campbell Sr's topic in General Angling Discussion
I believe it helps get information out to the masses. Whether it be about new techniques, conservation, or hardware. I really have never followed any tournaments, other than our 1 bass tournament. -
Above and Beyond

I ordered some Lilley's jigs for a recent outing (liverfest) and they were shipped on Monday , I didn't get them till Wednesday of the next week. USPS is definitely not making happy customers. Good news is, I'll have them for Jigfest. -
May interest some. https://thenationalprofessionalfishingleague.com/2024/09/02/breaking-news-the-future-of-forward-facing-sonar-in-the-npfl/?fbclid=IwY2xjawFF7uJleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHYtsIysGNsWiMTbQT-HjO5jQdQnKLUTsYMD8x1g6K57a3e6_j_Rt9txfCQ_aem_oWFOjwADferEr7TipjUcoQ

It came in today. Lots of parts to this unit. It seems cheaply made. Assembly doesn't bother me, but the idea of disassembling each time I use it for cleaning defeats my desire of time saving. I did not assemble it, repackaged it and it will be returned. I will try your idea, seems simple enough, as well as quieter.

Meat prep question. I've been flattening chicken breasts with a tenderizer hammer, just ordered a crank style machine. Does anyone else have any history or advice? Tips or tricks?

Leaking lake, take all you want.
Daryk Campbell Sr replied to Daryk Campbell Sr's topic in General Angling Discussion
First time I've heard about this lake. That may be why. -
https://www.kfvs12.com/2024/08/27/mdc-reports-major-leak-developing-north-county-park-lake-authorizes-emergency-fish-salvage-order/ At least they are allowing people to take the fish. Seems they could be transplanted elsewhere.

Every OAF member is welcome to join us for this year's Jigfest. Dec 12-15 at Rileys Outfitter in Mountain Home , Arkansas. We eat amazing food, fish as much or as little as you want. Wading opportunities on White River is in the backyard. Many opportunities for boating along the White, as well as Norfork River. Cost varies depending on total number of people avg $225/ person for lodging sometimes less. Past events have been awesome. Come on out!! Unfiltered pictures of last year's gathering.

I've seen some damaged motors due to not winterizing them. Mine is garage kept and I don't use it in winter. If I was to have it on a trip (Jigfest) in December, what would be the best way to protect it between uses multiple days in possibly freezing weather? I considered a can of compressed air to blow into the pee hoke, and force out water. 76 Merc 9.8hp 2 stroke.

Got a late start this morning. Breakfast was same as yesterday, we decided to fish the Norfork River, they were running just under 2 units. We rented a boat from Rose Trout dock. They were really nice, an older type local business. They had a lift that tilted the boat on its side so it could be washed before we took it out. We took a ride down to the White River and seen some cows. The water was moving pretty well. Ray caught the first fish in my boat, a brown. Geno caught the next. I was a bit nervous navigating the boat in such strong current and didn't really fish. We got stopped by game wardens on the river, no issues. We quickly got off the river once a storm came brewing through. And went to Norfork Brewery for lunch. They had great pizza. Cody made some great smoked trout dip. We let it sit all day, and ate it this evening. Took Cody's boat out to Buffalo Shoals on the White. The guys put the boat to the test and caught a few more. Good day all in all.
