  1. I got to go fishing for the first time this year. The first time since the accident over 4 months ago. I built my rod, and used it today.
  2. I believe there were more recent New Year gatherings.
  3. I would like to join one. My skills are far from quality, but it would help me alot if you all gave me a chance.
  4. Happy new Year Straw. Always glad to see you post.
  5. I've been a fan of Jim Beam Honey for a while. Found it during the covid shutdown. Had some last night, I'm losing my desire for it. I'm late to the cinnamon party and am leaning toward Fireball and Jim Beam Fire. Really good mixed with Dr Pepper.
  6. That would be neat to see and hear.
  7. I would really like to participate in this, but gonna have to miss another one. NYE is special to my wife, she WANTS that new years kiss at midnight. I hope this turns out, the weather seems to be on a warming trend.
  8. I've followed this channel for a good while. Even have a couple cans of his seasoning. He posted a video that uses a hair jig to catch frogs. Pretty fun looking.
  9. Next time you fire up the smoker, drop a couple of whole russet potatoes in there. They are great.
  10. Your thoughts sound logical.
  11. Merry Christmas Ranger, and all of OAF. I hope Santa and the elves were able to satisfy all requests this year.
  12. Here, I thought it was a grain.
  13. What an awesome story. I think most people actively on here know of Duane. But Blake, as you found out, is quite a nice guy as well. I've used his guide services twice now on Taneycomo. Just call Lilley's and they can set you up.
  14. I don't own any, but @gotmuddy does. His are on pedestal feet (chairs) not anchored. I left my phone on the seat while folded. The chair was not strapped down as we weren't going far. We were on a curvy road, with decent hills on the eleven point river. My phone on the seat was still there when we reached the destination. I was very impressed and surprised, because I didn't realize it was not with me till I found it.
  15. You must get the premium ice cream.
  16. I've seen that process, and it looks to be rewarding. I'm not as committed to fly fishing as I really want to be. If that makes any sense. The bamboo rods are a real woek of art and I believe it makes a great difference to the ones who are die hard casters. I would also need the workspace. That is currently tied up with my canoe which is on pause. This project has been done in the living room. I have stripped a small culm that I salvaged from some halloween decorations. Basically tiki torch posts but about half the length. It will be used for a 2 or 4 piece mini rod for mico fishing. I glued 2 strips back to back and whittled them down. I sed my drill to simulate a lathe for smoothing it down.
  17. I am currently building what I could not find for sale. Many may remember when I was looking to buy a Tenkara rod for micro fishing. Well the word Tenkara and the type of fishing it represents seems to have been lost in translation. Long story short, the Japanese have a style of micro fishing called Tenkara. They fish for Tanago (tah-nah-go) which is a micro fish. They use ultra short rods as short as 2 feet. The smallest I could find so far was the Tiny Ten rod, but its $80 and no reel. So with much web surfing and many many hours on YouTube ( Kawan Mancing @johnsfolly ) I found someone whonwas building and using the rods I wanted to build. Here is my current progress. This is an eyeglass case from Walmart. Bonus feature is the bottom is lined with foam. Ill be putting some homeade flies in here as well. The white circles are to hold line pre rigged with hooks.
  18. I seen this on one of my Facebook groups. Thought of this thread.
  19. I believe John feels the same.
  20. Great repot, and glad to hear of your success. But, in typical Folly style you left us hanging. Who is the YouTuber you refer to?
  21. Man, that is a bit on the heavy side for an entry. But they do advertise it is "The GOLD STANDARD FOR FISHING TOURNAMENTS".
  22. I would like to be #3
  23. What is it that we're looking at Cody? I see it's a broken part, but not sure what part.
  24. I am not officially using a lathe. But turning a micro bamboo rod. It is a tenkara/tanago rod. I found alot of info on YouTube. Like @MrGiggles, I am using a drill. I have a few ideas, none are my own creations.
