  1. To me Bennett is like a trip to the gym. I usually spend equal amounts of time exercising my skills at..... Short line nymping in fast water. Sight fishing. Swinging or stripping streamers/wet flys in tailouts...and in slower water Fishing attractor dry flys. And matching hatches (when one is happening). Trout are Trout no-matter where they were born, and they all bite and fight in the same fashion.....so hook setting and landing fish is no different there, than in a "wild trout" setting. A few days at Bennett every month of the year can keep your skills sharp and have you prepared for trout fishing ANYWHERE & ANYTIME. Of course none of this applies if all you do is stand at the outlet and fish mop flys under a bobber all day. 🙄
  2. Sorry, I was referring to Ed Elseric. He and his gal, Kay ran Spring View fly shop.
  3. I've never stayed close and fished it 2-3 days consecutively. . If I had 3-5 days to play with I bet I could unlock a solid pattern or two. I could use a few lodging suggestions for the area......Go! It's just far enough away that I don't wanna have to drive from home every day.
  4. Hey, my modeling days have been over for more than a decade. I just wanna stay healthy, I can avoid mirrors if I have to. 😉
  5. I ain't faking a smile for nobody! When I say that the BEC5 burns.......I mean, it doesn't just sting a bit for a few seconds.......NO, It soaks in and immediately sets off every nerve ending within 3 inches of my lip like a mouthful of firecrackers, and it takes me about 20 minutes just to stop crying. Smiles and laughter don't resume for about 2 hours.
  6. Started my lip healing process 4 days ago. The stuff burns like a SOB for 20-30 minutes after application..... nothing fun about it for sure. But if it works it will be better than a dozen trips to the dermatologist at 1-2k per visit. The twice daily process will go on for 3-4 months (possibly more) 🙄. Total cost= 780.00
  7. Ed was a good friend. Miss him. Bob Gaston was my all time favorite Bennett fella. He understood and didn't get his feelings hurt if I was in a hurry to go fishing, and didn't want to stand around chewing the fat all day long. Charlie is a super good dude......but oh my god.... he can be a bit too windy for me. I only stop if I have an overabundance of time to kill.
  8. I poured through my old journals and found my best Pomme limit..... 17.11 in late March 2004. The water level was 4' high, and fish were relating to the old shoreline edge in 4-6'. Most came on a 5/16oz. hula grub just outside the takeoff cove. The 2 best fish came on a 3/4 thumper spinnerbait along a flooded fencerow in Decker br. 52° water. Only culled twice. Other "decent" Pomme days from 2001-2008 (where I actually left with a check) were in the 14-15lb. range.
  9. A bee doesn't stand a chance around here today. Sustained wind of 20 with gusts to 30-35. Power was out here from 3:30am until almost 8:00
  10. 9 lb kicker will do that. 👍
  11. I've enjoyed growing up in an area where the apex predator in the woods is ME. I have no problem killing any cougars or bears that I see in Missouri, and I wish everyone else would do likewise. Law or regulations be dammed.
  12. I was trimming some chicken breast fillets the other night, and tossing the raw bits to Orion.... who was anxiously sitting behind me at full attention. Sugarbritches walks into the kitchen and says "OH MY GOD, DON'T FEED HIM RAW CHICKEN SCRAPS.....What's wrong with you!!!". I said, "What's wrong with YOU? Dogs have been eating raw chicken....feathers, toenails, eyeballs, and all, since before your great-great-great grandma was born! Go back to organizing your closet and leave us alone ! Freak !". 🙄
  13. There ya go. 👍. 🙂
  14. Of course here's the REAL sign..... Time to ROCK & ROLL ! 😉👍
  15. Hell that would have been even better ! No witnesses, and nobody had a video recorder, or GPS confirmation device in their pocket. Deal with it however you choose, and write whatever ya want on the report......Or.....just claim that you never made contact.
  16. Oh c'mon now! 🙄 They are armed to the teeth, with all the latest-greatest toys of defense available, and have the permission to use them at their discretion. Plus, if they ever feel even the slightest bit outgunned they are free (encouraged) to back off to safety, and wait for backup. The only least dangerous job I can think of is that of a Stay At Home Seamstress. If you wanna talk about who risks their lives to keep places in business longer..... consider Truck Drivers and the Electrical company linemen. Toss THEM a burger too, for crying out loud! 👍 The only reason that anyone feeds the cops for free....is in hopes that they'll leave them alone. TRUTH!
  17. What was the deal with those Gamblers? Was? They are still making them.....one at a time. Weight distribution, pad, and transom design give them a definite edge if speed PLUS safety is your goal. Stroker's are a Gambler copycat wannabe. If Speed is your thing.....and you really don't care if you die in a boat crash.....Bullet or Allison is likely your brand of choice. The coolest, best built bass boat I've ever seen....and I just recently got introduced to it.....is the iKon LX21 🤗 If I ever hit the lottery that will be my very first purchase. I'll be the only guy in the world with a brand new bassboat powered by a 20 year old 2-stroke. 😁 Because I wouldn't buy a new 4-stroke outboard if I had all the money in the world.
  18. Old bass club buddy had a Gambler that would peak out at 78. He was cooking along one day about 68-72mph and a bump board he left on the front deck took half his face off. 2 years later he was rounding a point and couldn't avoid another boat. He's still dead. 🙄
  19. A mile per minute is as fast as anybody should be traveling over water, in a boat designed for fishing,.....ever. 65mph wind can flip a bassboat and trailer over. What makes you think it won't do it when it's not on the trailer?
  20. Docks are so tight in there now that you can't hit the bank with a wiggle wart anywhere.
  21. Reading it did. "Put your camel to bed" ....over & over. Thanks for that. 🙄
  22. Bring @Flysmalliewith ya, I'll keep him busy while you and Doug sneak off. Orion hasn't gotten to hump his leg since he was just a pup.
  23. Don't be jealous 😘
