Somebody educate me please. How is living somewhere with a HOA any different than living in a trailer park ?

He's talking just like "biologists" always talk. Spouting off reasons of why there was a mass White Bass die off at Pomme, when during and after the actual event everyone in charge of studying it clearly stated that "No determination could be made". "Flooded grass during spring rains" π For crying out loud. The grass hadn't even started getting green yet. That's the beef I have with the biologist community......They just can't be honest and say "We don't really know". Instead they come up with idiotic theory's that sound "smart" (to idiots)....and they just roll with it. After all these years and YEARS of study, they have progressed nowhere. Actually they have lapped themselves, and are now more ignorant than they were when they began. It's rediculous.

That's exactly what I said, DingDong. Now make some coffee and shut up. π

Wrench - how much to install a new trolling motor?
fishinwrench replied to buckcreekmike's topic in Lake of the Ozarks
Typically from 105.00 plus parts ... to as much as the trolling motor costs. π Yours sounds like a quick/easy one. -
Lower Meramec Tuesday Night tournaments
fishinwrench replied to Masterbaiter399's topic in Meramec River
I've only fished an Ozark river derby once, had 14 boats and all but 3 (including us) ran upstream. We ran downstream less than 4 miles and took 2nd place with just under 7lbs. The winner and big-fish pot taker had 9 and some change. It's way different from lake tournaments. I think I'd get bored/frustrated with it pretty quick.....but that's just me. That was back before we had Google Earth and cell phones....so there was no clue what was beyond the next bend, just had to go there and see. -
1976 9.8hp Mercury shifter question
fishinwrench replied to Daryk Campbell Sr's topic in Throw It Down
The propshaft should lock up in reverse just like it does in Fwd......but in the opposite direction. Safety Tip: Always pull the plug wires if turning the engine over via the propshaft. We don't want you scratching your @$$ with your elbow ! -
Yep, I used to get all fired up about deer hunting, but me and 2 of our kids are the only ones here that enjoy venison. Plus I have customers that are always dropping off loins and bags of their best batches of jerky. There's no reason at all for me to kill one. If I had any more venison in the freezer it would just get fed to the beggar....

All it would take to get me to cancel a trip to Vegas, is a temporary bout of hic-cups. Or a charlie-horse.
-
I suppose reservoir catfish will eat anything, but if your truly serious....a 2-3" chunk of shad or bluegill meat drifted a couple feet off the bottom is a proven winner. No sense in bothering with anything else, unless it's all you can get your hands on.
-
They obviously aren't very sick, or they wouldn't feel like going. Having a bug that makes you just wanna die is something to be concerned about. Having a bug where you still feel like heading to Vegas to party..... That's not something I can get too worked up about.

1976 9.8hp Mercury shifter question
fishinwrench replied to Daryk Campbell Sr's topic in Throw It Down
You're behind it...but don't turn the propshaft CLOCKWISE ! or it will default to neutral. You can turn the driveshaft clockwise...and the prop will turn clockwise....if the gearcase is in Fwd gear. That is fine. But if you even so much as bump the prop, by itself, in a clockwise direction, then you loose your "pre-load".....and everything goes to schit. I know it's kinda confusing.....but to fully understand it you need to understand how the gearcase works, and shifts. It's a Mercury thing....no other gearcase plays that stupid game. -
1976 9.8hp Mercury shifter question
fishinwrench replied to Daryk Campbell Sr's topic in Throw It Down
Yep, you phucked it up.....This is why we get paid the big bucks. π Take the lower unit back off, manually shift the gearcase into Fwd gear (confirm by turning the driveshaft clockwise and making sure the prop shaft spins clockwise).... Then inspect the reverse lock cam on top of the lower unit shift shaft, to be certain that it is in the correct position to lock the tilt mechanism. If you didn't remove it, and it didn't fall off when you removed the gearcase then it should be fine. Put the shift lever (starboard side of the cowling) in the Fwd position, and re-install the gearcase...being careful to not spin the prop clockwise (I mean NOT ONE TINY LITTLE BIT) or it will default to neutral. To get the driveshaft splined into the crankshaft....you can only turn the prop COUNTER-CLOCKWISE....or you can reach up and slowly turn the flywheel clockwise. Once the driveshaft is engaged continue up with the gearcase to get the water tube into its hole in the pump housing.....then continue up to FINALLY engage the shift shaft spline. DO NOT MOVE OR TURN THE LOWER SHIFT ROD....ONLY MOVE THE SHIFT LEVER to properly spline the shift shaft in that position. Shove her up, and tighten her up. Now, test to make sure you have all your gears, and that neutral is where it is supposed to be. Then test to make sure the reverse lock is working properly (the motor should not tilt while in reverse.). Got it? -
Lower Meramec Tuesday Night tournaments
fishinwrench replied to Masterbaiter399's topic in Meramec River
No regatta permits requested until June last year on the Meramec, so I'd say that they indeed know the rules. -
Very few of the places around here are doing deer this year. They already have all the work they can possibly do butchering hogs and beef. They'd have to hire 4-5 guys and build another cooler if they were going to process deer. Plus with all the bullshithype about CWD (thanks to the MDC) they will loose their year-round business if a single deer gets brought into the facility.

No changes here because of FEAR. Same crew, same meal. I look forward to it every year. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Turkey, dressing, mashed taters, gravy, corn casserole, green bean casserole, canned cranberry jelly, deviled eggs, dinner rolls, Iced tea. π Then... Pumpkin pie, Apple pie, and some kinda crap my wife calls "Lucinda salad" that I've never even tasted (looks like armadillo puke). Oh....and sweet potatoes with marshmallows melted on top, which I also never touch.....but they do smell good when in the oven.

You ever heard of punkin'pie?
-
Neat stuff. π

No Golden's at Trout Dale now, only brookies and rainbows.
-
I actually already knew it. Golden's are such prime targets for birds of prey that it is unlikely many will live to reproduce.

People Donβt Understand Straight Line Winds
fishinwrench replied to oneshot's topic in General Chat
Isn't it comforting to hear, after everything you own has exploded and been blown into the woods, that...."Relax, it wasn't a tornado, it was just straight line winds". I'm sure that folks feel so much better now. π After my event in '06 we had a crew of 6 guys from some branch of government, walking/driving around with the sole purpose of determining what exactly happened SCIENTIFICALLY. As if it mattered. Because my 1/2 ton shortbed pickup was scooted 12 feet across the concrete pad of my shop they adjusted their guess from a F2 to a F3 .....even though my wife's Taurus was completely destroyed...but unmoved from it's original location less than 30 feet away. Was it really worth the cost of 6 paychecks, and the wear and tear on their Suburban (that we paid for with our tax dollars) to have this crew of highly paid scientist's wandering around all day, just to determine THAT? Really? Who GAFF? -
I did a bunch of traveling during my youth, but always came back to good ol' Missouri. The older I get, the closer to home I stay. I've seen what all is out there, but once I'm gone a few weeks there's always something I miss from HOME that isn't available wherever else I'm at.

I'm a big Diet Coke guy, 3-4 12oz. cans per day. I don't know what I would substitute that with.... but it surely isn't good for me. I'm one of those people that feel like I have to have something to sip on within reach at all times. It's either coffee, orange or cranberry juice, soda, and more coffee. I really don't drink as much beer/liquor as you probably think I do..... I just act half-drunk alot because it's fun. π
-
I just keep mixing it up. But my wife loves chicken so much that we probably eat too much of it. Nobody in our house, myself included, is overly fond of beef. So hamburger is about the extent of our beef intake. I like GOOD steak but our stores here don't know what good beef is. Fish at least once every 2 weeks (rotate fried or baked). Plenty of broccoli, lima beans, green beans, cooked carrots, beets, salad. We go through a ton of CHEESE in this house. Absolutely no "supplements" at all. My older brother refuses to eat vegetables to this day. French fries..... that's the extent of his vegetable consumption π. He lives on beer and corn dogs.

Total Newb With Questions
fishinwrench replied to WannabeAngler's topic in North Fork of the White River
I'm not a big fan of tailwater fishing but if I had to choose one that I was familiar with, to spend a week on, it would definitely be Norfork. The size and the typical release/fallout schedule appeal to me more than any of the others I have spent time on. I concocted a streamer there once that my buddy named the Baxter Blonde. And we HAMMERED them on that fly during a shad kill, and then hammered them on a #12 pregnant scud pattern during the times that the shad weren't present. It was a really great time.
