St. Louis Fly Shop

Feather-Craft may be a good place to go into, but they suck at the mail order business. -
I don't see why not. I'm not, he is.

I'll do it for 250.00 ๐

Loopers versus crossflows
fishinwrench replied to rumrunner's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Much better at what? There are advantages to both designs. Stronger idle, smoother stronger acceleration, and dependable hole shot with a crossflow. Better fuel economy at WOT and quicker acceleration once your out of the hole with a loop charged design....but with an increased likelihood of detonation and/or meltdown. Your comment about has absolutely nothing to do with the induction design of the powerhead. -
How has the current presidency negatively effected you? I seek, in fairness, to understand.

If you're stressing over Reserve Capacity, and your rigging is such that reserve capacity is a valid concern......then my advice is to isolate your EXTRA CURRICULAR voltage pigs to their own pen.

Kayak, bank walking, wading....on public water....all should be good. Right? -
OA One bass tournament (Virtual version)
fishinwrench replied to Quillback's topic in Fishing Events
Awesome ๐ This should be fun. I think my bump board is supposed to arrive today or tomorrow. -
Just FYI..... Nothing has changed, in regard to outboard charging system output or required starting voltage, over the last 25 years. Newer high tech outboards if anything are more conservative in regards to voltage, not more demanding. There's no reason whatsoever to buy 400.00 cranking batteries. You're being sold a line of BS. If you are piling on the electronic accessories to the point that a decent quality cranking battery can't keep up then you should consider isolating those electronics from the engine circuit and give them their own power source. Your voltage needs, in order to catch fish, has gotten rediculous. ๐

Fine, but this is the last time ๐ Trying to get ONE MORE SEASON out of a tired battery is begging for outboard charging system failure (stator & voltage regulator). Swap that cranking battery with a 900-1000 MCA every 3rd year and you'll never have that 2000.00 repair bill. The most important guage on your helm is the Voltmeter. They should make them 4" and the tach 2"... instead of the other way around. Watch your voltmeter when starting the motor, and glance at it often when running. If it dips much below 10v while cranking, and isn't between 13-15 while running then you need to find out WHY immediately. Over 15v will boil your battery dry. Under 12.5 will cause numerous circuits to overheat, which will drastically shorten the life of ignition/charging system components....they are all co-dependant on each other, and none of those components are cheap. This info is also relative to your trolling motor circuit. A trolling motor ran using tired (or near dead) battery(s) will overheat every circuit in the system and bake the brushes. A trolling motor that is never operated with a nearly discharged battery will probably last FOREVER. But operate it with a 40% charged battery just once and you'll loose power and shorten the overall life of that unit for good. There. Can we pin this somewhere so I don't have to keep repeating myself? I'd rather spend my time reminding everyone about how ignorant it is to haul bass around in livewells. ๐

Not ON on. Some males shot up the creeks after that good rain the other night, but then Ameren quickly dropped the lake back down, effectively shutting the gate. We won't get another surge of them until the lake is allowed to raise a foot or so again.

I've preached it 1000 times. I'm not typing it again. ๐

I never even slowed down, but I'm looking forward to everyone else getting back to work.

Boat size for tailwater fishing
fishinwrench replied to Woodpecker's topic in Bagnell Dam Tailwater/Lower Osage River
I wouldn't advise it. There's some tricky currents from Bagnell to Saline creek. Once below Saline it tames down considerably until you get down to the old Lock where it gets dicey again for a 1/2 mile or so. -
Ahh look at her! ๐ค I've gotta find me one. ๐

From a biologists standpoint that wouldn't make any sense...but I've heard others that have undergone cancer treatment say the same thing about ticks and chiggers.

If I understand correctly they are only 60 miles up. Once they are all up there I assume we'll see them cris-crossing around up there. Probably make it hard to pick out the constellations....which is kinda sad. Are future kids going to understand STARS ? ๐ค

Love the smell of fresh cut grass. Love standing on the deck all hot & sweaty with a cold drink in my hand, looking over my masterpiece. The first piece of "machinery" I ever operated was a lawnmower, and it sounds corney but my first day cutting grass was a huge turning point. I was a "Man". It was a Toro, one that you wound up with a crank handle nice and tight, then tripped the lever and if you had just the right amount of choke applied.....it came to life on the first try. You didn't stop to take any breaks, because if you killed the Toro you might not get that lucky again. In my family once you were lawn mower certified ALL power tools were at your disposal. Saws, drills, outboard motors, and tractors and trucks once you were big enough to reach the pedals. Since I never had a son, I'll always cut the grass. ๐

Gonna be some cool light shows when that starts happening.

She is supposed to be tying pink/white clousers TONITE because that's what she wants to throw tomorrow, but she got into the margaritas about an hour ago....I bet all my pink/whites get sniped tomorrow. ๐คช

The one that blew up all over me was a Craftsman, it had good deck but the guy I bought the NEW Craftsman from wanted the wheels and tires, and I told him he could only have them if he took the whole thing. I didn't want a blown mower with no wheels decorating my place. At least the pile of blown outboards are worth something as aluminum scrap.

Good bet! All it needed was a valve adjustment and fresh fuel.....Fired right up. The blades are even straight and sharp. Possibly the best 40.00 I ever spent. That sucker is a powerhouse! Waiting on a carb for the 12hp flathead, and it should run too. It also has a good deck and blades. Batteries on both are even looking like they are going to live.

One of these is gonna run before the day's over. For a cheap mower those old Murray's are built pretty solid. Should be plenty of power too. Did you know that a replacement carburetor that comes with a new air filter is CHEAPER than the carb kit to rebuild one? ๐ That's hilarious!
