  1. I did a little experiment yesterday, I spent 2 hours fishing deeper stuff and 2 hours fishing shallow stuff. In that time I caught 3 keepers and 2 shorts deep, and 3 keepers and 5 shorts shallow. The 3 deep keepers outweighed the 3 shallow ones by just over a pound but the shallow fish looked healthier. 2 of the deep keepers and both of the deep short fish had sores on them and just really didn't look that good. All of the shallow fish were fat and clean and colored up nice. Do you think that means anything? I found it interesting. Water temps were 82-84°
  2. I hear alot of folks saying that, but here's how I see it: The state refused to buy it, and even though the original deal was that as soon as the bridge had paid for itself it would be turned over to the state....for some reason the state doesn't want the burden of maintaining it. Nobody has to use it unless they want to, so I'm not understanding where the robbery part is. When I need to go to that side of the lake I gladly pay a few bucks to avoid driving all the way around the lake. Are lettered roads like MM and TT county or state roads?
  3. There's a new little place in the Gravois called T's Fish house, looks really cool and the food smells amazing when I go by there. I really want to stop there and eat lunch, but you can't tie up to their docks for fear of having your boat ripped to pieces, so besides the neighborhood folks there's no way they are making any money and will probably not even open up next year. It's really a shame. It gets worse every year, and this year I don't know if anyone else has noticed but PWC traffic has declined drastically. It has honestly gotten too rough for the ones that used to go searching for waves to play on. That would be funny if it weren't true. A couple weeks ago I had to do a lengthy test run on a pontoon I had worked on, so we loaded up the fam and went for a cruise on a Thursday afternoon. My kids beach ball blew out of the boat so I jumped in to retrieve it and although I played it off like a tuff-guy to everyone in the boat the truth of the matter is that I almost drowned. You ever try swimming 30-40 yards through 3' swells and heavy boat wakes? It's pretty scary. If you fall out of a boat on this lake during the weekend and end up a little ways away from the boat you'd better be a strong swimmer and know how to control your breathing or you'll be a statistic. That kid that got thrown out while handcuffed probably would have drowned even if the life jacket had stayed on, it's that bad.
  4. Yep, and in all reality keeping a boat on a hoist is bad news. You can't do proper maintenance on a boat that is suspended over the water. You can't even visually inspect much of it. All of these boats that burst into flames every year are 100% attributed to the kind of half-assed maintenance and service that gets done while on the hoist. I did "service calls" on the docks for years and I'll openly admit to cutting corners just to avoid another trip back up the hill to the truck. That's no way to work on a boat, take that sucker to the shop where all the good tools and parts are.
  5. The fish eat the same stuff up there that they do here, but the Deer Flys eat even more. Remember when you post your report that you're not allowed to cuss here when describing the Deer Flys and how you feel about them. Deep Woods Off is like pancake syrup to them, I'm not even sure that hydrochloric acid would repel them. Just eat lots of chocolate and prepare for some blood loss. Also don't use the word "soda", because for some reason it pisses them off. The correct word is "Pop".
  6. Maybe a big sub Kicker in the boat would be like a Hydro-Wave. Try it and let me know. Give them some Skynyrd or something though and spare them the Lil'Wayne.
  7. This 🌿 doesn't resemble Poison ivy to you? Fine then, go roll in it.
  8. I started to but my fish is either a Whale or one that looks like a Tuna, and that didn't fit the occasion nor the geography. So I'll leave it be and you can add proper fish pics once you get there. 👍😋 I thought the poison ivy was clever. 😁
  9. Kinda sorta I guess. An actual slider head might even be better.
  10. Good luck! Have fun/be safe. 🐻⚡🌿🐺🚣✈
  11. What, people making money? Yeah it's allowed. Attempting to stop it though....that is NOT allowed.
  12. I've done it, but with a Grigsby HP hook. Same effect but less hassle when a tube gets torn up.
  13. I'll let you in on a little secret. I don't know if this is as good on TR as it is on LO but a Gene Larew Long John Minnow on a slightly lighter than 1/8oz. modified jighead/8#line is probably the LO equivalent of a Ned rig on Table Rock. The way to make it slightly lighter is to squeeze a 1/8 head in a vise to make it asprin shaped, then snip the bottom of the head off flat with a pair of side cutters and flatten the bottom with a file. The thing glides around, flutters like crazy on a semi-slack line. Throw it just about anywhere and bass of all sizes usually gobble it up like there's no tomorrow. I'll let you figure the color part out yourself.... cuz that part might just be my imagination.
  14. Well the tents got up ok and they were doing fine gathering firewood until one of them thought they saw a snake. And ya know those bags of ice and water jugs are kinda heavy, picnic tables are never where they want them, and getting the lantern strung up over a branch is definitely a man's job, as is installing a clothesline. Whatever it takes to get your Mudbug wet, I always say. 😉
  15. My wife and her gaggle of hens are camped out down there for their annual "girls only camp". I ran down to check on them and did some fishing between MV and BS, and there wasn't any mouse eaters to be found, nor any Sneaky Pete or streamer eaters either. I caught a bunch of dinks by dropping a Mudbug pattern carefully into the dark little chutes and eddys and dead drifting with a few twitches thrown in. That's the only way I could get bit. I never touched a fish over 12" in 2 days of trying.
  16. Sell your bass boat, buy a good Jon boat and a '75 Johnson 15hp. Then you can load up on Yamamoto's and be ok financially. 😀
  17. What size hooks are y'all using to catch them minners ?
  18. Yeah I've bought cheap baits before and thought "I'll use these when it doesn't matter". When doesn't it matter? It always matters!!!!
  19. I have some home brew beer that my brother in law whipped up, I think I'll try that since I have no intentions of ever drinking it.
  20. Retain a good lawyer first, you ol' bird dog! 😀
  21. He or one of his kin invented a part for either a combine or a grain silo.....in case you're wondering where all that dough came from. I came across this little Gizmo the other day at a gas station and just had to throw down 7.00 for it... You know darn well that whoever came up with that is another one whose wake we'll be taking over the bow someday. 👍😋
  22. Well thank YOU ! It was my pleasure, and that little trooper you had with you is as cute as a bug. 100 degrees in the shade....any other kid would have been a miserable companion.
  23. Gotta be careful what you say outloud about that guy, his lawyers are hungry for a slander suit.
  24. I just tried it on a calcified gearcase housing and the calcium deposits laughed at me. They quit laughing when I grabbed the muratic acid though. 😀 Disclaimer: It wasn't "stale OJ", it was fresh cold Minute Maid, the other half of the bottle was delicious and I bet it tastes way better than toilet bowl cleaner.
