  1. That's why I requested to see a pic of the boat. 17' boats aren't regularly built with short transoms.......So I question if someone didn't modify the transom for a jet application.
  2. I figured there'd be somebody on YouTube hotspotting all those hatchery dinks. Sure enough 😅 Any of y'all know this dude ?
  3. Well Fire brick wasn't a big thing until NASA started building launching pads..... whenever that was. Mid-late '50's maybe? When did the impoundment of the White River begin ? Not sure why an aluminum boat builder needed fire brick. 🤔
  4. Ahh, that explains the Popeye arms & wicked hand grips on all those brick-plant boys....... because I doubt that they had a forklift to unload them with. 😊
  5. A customer of mine fished the Current right after Christmas and he said the river from Baptist to Parker is absolutely LOADED with 9-14 inchers. "Too many" according to him. He said it was ridiculous.
  6. My Grandpa and Great uncle floated a large portion of the White River, the year that Ouachita boat co. began......Not sure what year that was, but they went out of business in the early '80's. Not sure why, but the owner of the company needed fire-brick and he traded a new boat & trailer to them for hauling the "skids" of firebrick to him. Now......I heard the story all of my life and still don't know what a "SKID" of brick is ? 🤔
  7. Strike King Shim-E-Stick in Grn.pumpkin is the only ones in my boat. I give each one a good stretch before rigging it. They work pretty darn good 👍 The Yamamoto Senko is "the best".... but let's face it, they'll cost you 35.00 per day to use them when the bite is on. 🙄
  8. That definitely used to be the case, but not so much anymore. Rod blank construction and materials (and fly lines) have come a long way in the last 10 years or so. Some of the 100.00-150.00 rods today are just as sweet as the 400.00-600.00 rods were 25 years ago. Hell, even several of the 70.00 Amazon specials are darn fine fishing tools.
  9. My guess is that they will build a new bridge.....THEN close down the old one and remove it. It will just slow traffic down a bit.
  10. Hope everyone enjoys their family & friends, and celebrates in whatever fashion suits them this Christmas. 😊
  11. When I was just a little kid we had these hairy silver-dollar sized spiders in our basement that would jump TOWARDS YOU whenever you got close to them. It's been over 50 years since a spider has jumped at me......but I'll obviously never get over that. Those are the type of spiders that make me wanna burn the house down.
  12. I fully realize how hypocritical my view can be. 🙄 It's as if because the fish on my stringer (or in my livewell) aren't whining and looking at me all sad, and panicking.....that they are perfectly content with the whole situation. If spiders would cry a little..... maybe I wouldn't hate them so badly. 😅
  13. We are talking about a 1984 Evinrude 115 here. 😁
  14. A 1748 with a 16" transom was likely rigged with a jet pump motor. Can you post a few pics of the boat ?
  15. Ya know....... Totally unrelated......But I always have personally considered trapping inhumane as hell, and about as unsporting as it can get. Maybe back in the day, when the pioneer types did it in order to make a living.....it could be somewhat justified. But as any kind of a sporting way to harvest wildlife...... It's just sick. And yeah I have a couple good friends that still do it, and I have even participated in running their traps with them in the past.....but it has just never been one of my things. Yet I grew up running limb lines and trot-lines......So how is that any different? Right? There's just something about putting a bullet in a critters head while it is struggling with a foot caught in a trap.....and has been for HOURS.....Yuck! Or even purposely drowning a beaver, otter, or muskrat. I wouldn't even do that to one of these stupid feral cats around here.
  16. Those guys made it look easier than getting a bird dog turned loose. 😅
  17. Puts it in the Jet category.
  18. I released a bird dog from a trap once, and even that was no easy task. I can't even imagine trying to release a panicking mountain lion.
  19. OMG, I hate it when people call a gun "a weapon".
  20. What happens if a trapper catches a cougar? What's the proper, legal & acceptable protocol for that situation ?
  21. Yeah totally! 🙄
  22. All the defendant should have to say is..... "Given the reputation of Mountain lions, and the possibility that the only reason it was in that area is because it knew that I was in that area also......I feared for my safety". Any prosecutor that would argue THAT point....is a jackass.
  23. It depends on what you're throwing, and how/where you're fishing it. Big Browns on the Current river will not hesitate to clobber a big 5" jerkbait worked erratically on 15# line, regardless of how clear the water is.
  24. i thought you dont need oil until it runs out!!! From the looks of these questions I see that crackheads aren't as rare as I thought ! 😅
  25. If the population of mountain lions equalled the population of pit bulls, mosquitoes, ect. I bet you wouldn't let your kids out of the house.
