I'm not a fan of DTS, any more than I am hydraulic steering......but that's the inevitable future of boating, so...... π

That'll work. I can have Micaiah install some new wheel bearings & trailer bunks for them. He loves that job. π

I predict that it's gonna be a genuine hogfest the first day. The insane winds are gonna force everyone into the backends of the coves where a bunch of bigguns are gonna be moving into. I think a ton of guys will connect with 5+pounders. Day 2 will likely be a washout. I betcha the winning fish will be caught Saturday before 10:am.

looking for a particular cast iron skillet

And not nearly as liberated. π -
Some outfit scheduled a 50 boat Crappie tournament out of the Gravois, on top of the Bash. Not sure where they intend to park π€

Dang! Y'all must be hard on those boys that are doing your boat stuff down there. Try being a bit more pleasant to do business with, and maybe they'll lighten up a bit. π π

I believe there will be one over 8# this Spring. Possibly even multiple 8+.

You were born 1 generation too late. Before there were #5 cast iron skillets you could just grab one by the hair and drag her to your cave. -
I'd like to do the same with the overabundance of deer around here. Just carve off the back straps and let the coyotes and buzzards have the rest.

I've made 4k from it already......and nobody has even wet a line yet. π I may break a record by Sunday afternoon. π

There's no such thing as being "Certified to install electronics". You read the instructions that come with the unit.... and use your brain.

I guess I'm pretty famous, cuz everywhere we go there's somebody coming up to me like we're next door neighbors or something. We'll talk for 15-20 minutes then as we leave Sugarbritches will ask "Who was that". I have no idea. π I probably worked on his boat 20+ years ago.

No kidding! You'll invariably hit a pothole and all the freaks will splash out. π

The WB/Hybrid mutts I catch likely all die. Some (many) go belly-up within sight of the boat. Obviously I only see the ones that float to the top. Others are undoubtedly dieing and sinking to the bottom. You can tell by the way they spaz-out when handling them that something is wrong with them. This is the main reason why it bothers me so much that they exist. They are far less hearty than pure White bass, and introducing those weak genes into the native White bass population is NOT a good move IMO.

Having lived on Lake O for over 30 years I can tell you that there are 2 kinds of visability problems to overcome.... There is..." I didn't see it" because the object was somehow camouflaged. And there is....."I didn't see it" because I wasn't looking/or paying attention. I swear to God, you could put a giant bouy, the size of a houseboat, in the middle of the lake, paint it bright yellow and flourecent orange with 1000 flashing lights.......And within 7 days at least 3 people will hit it. If you think I'm lying or exaggerating, just look closely at all of the scars on the Grand Glaize Bridge pilings. Then consider that THAT is an Idle Only zone.

There's alot to be said for setting your throttle at 4200-4600 RPM on a long run......and just leaving it there. Both hands can be on the wheel, you'll burn less fuel, and you'll get there in plenty of time to catch fish. You can even relax, take in the sights, and eat a sandwich along the way. π Plus, your outboard will last alot longer. I'm still running a 1987 Evinrude XP150 that's still on it's original powerhead. π Basically, if your motor doesn't last longer than the upholstery & carpet in your boat..... you're doing something wrong.

Ain't those aviator shades cool ? π

Hell, I might never leave.

I have a stack of little buckets that I use to collect all the crap piled around Hotfoots to show my customers when they pick their boats up. Always filled with water bottles, soda cans, spent plastic baits, jerkbaits with busted lips, old spinnerbait frames, and wads of braid, mono, flourocarbon line. That area under the console is a "catch-all". If you're truly deadset on having a Hotfoot...... I'd recommend keeping that area of your boat tidy. I can't count the number of times I have had to lay under a console with a razor knife to cut, rip, and pull wads of line all tangled up in that SOB. I bet if you go look at yours RIGHT NOW you'll find a rats nest of discarded goodies.

Hydraulic steering increases the likelihood of bow hooking during deceleration. With cable steering you feel the stiffness (one side or the other) and can adjust trim angle to the degree that steering torque is lessened......which makes deceleration off the pad SAFER. With hydraulic steering you don't notice the pull. So when you come off the pad the seemingly slight steering adjustment isn't immediately obvious. The hull is pointed one way.....and the gear case (because of clockwise prop walk) is pointed as much as 15Β° to the left. All it takes is contacting the crest of the chop on the water......and you're probably not fast enough to correct for that. Your boat shifts rapidly, your butt comes off the seat, and now (without your butt firmly in the seat)....your control of the HOTFOOT is completely lost. From that point on YOU'RE TOAST !

I would say 100% yes. He definitely has the ROW He always comes in well before sunset, but along that particular bluff the shadow, and the reflection of the nearby trees makes him literally transparent. I've run up on him closer than I'd prefer.....even when I am slowing down and specifically looking for him.
-
Sad π There's a guy that goes out 2-3 times a week here by my place. Always in the evenings, and he comes back along a bluff line that is heavily shaded as soon as the sun dips behind it. Several of us locals have told him that he is VERY hard to see in the shadow of that bluff, and you can tell that it pisses him off. He put an orange flag on it BUT he is still hard to see unless you know his habits and are always looking out for him. I don't wanna keep ragging on the dude, but I'm really concerned that somebody is gonna mow him over one of these days. It's obvious that he doesn't understand that a guy running 55+mph in a bassboat, with polorized shades on, simply can NOT see him once they round that bend in the evenings.

This one here has a giant set of balls, and as much as my wife would love to have them removed...... she'd have to kill me first. He ain't never hurt anybody with them, and they are his favorite toy. So what's the problem? π€ It isn't like I just let him run the streets of town to screw everything that doesn't screw him first. He snores in a perfect E-minor, and I don't want him to snore in a G-flat.
