  1. Great posts. This is what it's really all about. Life is too short. Donna, enjoyed the article much.
  2. Fished Point 11 area Friday PM, 4/10, and Saturday, 4/11. Lots of large shad schools, with bass and monster white bass (2-1/2 to 3#) busting them for some extended periods of time. Saturday 3.8" swim bait was the ticket for us, but saw others, some of the FLW Collegiate teams, doing well on A-rig. Lots of boats Saturday. 11 keeps up to 3#, mix of spots, LM & SM. Best 5 maybe 14#. Caught close to 70 overall Saturday with 7 XXL Whites. Never pursued the whites but they were going good. No giant bass but much fun. What a great lake we have. Back with family in a few weeks.
  3. Please, quiet about that last one. Killer.
  4. Any manufacturers using ultraviolet curing clear coating for instantaneous cure and outstanding durability, even with heavy film thicknesses?
  5. So: Spot/Smallmouth = Meanmouth Spot/Largemouth = doesn't happen? Smallmouth/Largemouth = doesn't happen? Meanmouths I've seen sometimes vary in appearance from one to another, maybe that's typical though as one LM to another may vary in appearance. What about (M)Spot/(F)Smallmouth vs. (F)Spot/(M)Smallmouth. Sorry, just curious. Fish biologists, please step up.
  6. If anyone has more intense collection of WWart than Hunter53, well, we need to see it. That is crazy.
  7. Good one! Thanks for the report. One fish like that can make a slow day feel a whole lot better.
  8. The modifications are never ending!?
  9. Bill, your comment about them either being there or not at all seems like a common theme about this time of year. I remember similar bite last year. If we weren't finding them, we would move until we did. Thanks for you report. Good luck out there, all.
  10. My main concern with the "Rig", not paying close attention to what's happening on the other end of the line and small size of the bait, is too many deep hooked fish. Guess you can be a line watcher when possible, or shake/drag the bait some to identify bites, so deep hooking fish is minimized.
  11. The Parable Of The Sheep +1^ A similar theme from Bill Whittle - Tribes - September 5, 2005 The Sheep theme doesn't come in until mid-story. This is long, contains a bid of R-rated language, but is good. http://www.ejectejecteject.com/archives/000129.html
  12. Also include "big kids" (adults who have never fished much, that is) in who we should take fishing. I've seen, as you've said, "monsters created" out of some of those "kids". Thanks, for the story!
  13. Tell me about old suspend warts. Along with some originals I have 5 or 6 that say "Suspend Wart". Always did well with these.
  14. Alex, Good stuff
  15. I try to keep my posts only related to fishing, but..............Please....Compromises are what got us into the situation we are now in. If you can't stand up for your principles or vote as your constituency would like, you shouldn't be in government as a rep or senator. It's not all bad that our govenrnment is in a "frozen state". Don't buy-in to the "do-nothing Congress" lie. It's working as it should work. It's more rules & regs that are killing us. Less is more. And don't tell me Hillary '16 is the solution to our problems. I'm one who knows better. But the Dark Side is strong.
  16. To find these long lost baits that I put away in storage! Tip of the iceberg! Open up a bait shop? Custom weighted Rebel spoonbills & Bagley's baits. Spoonbills were hot baits.

    Name That Bait

That's "cranker". Dang auto spell check

    Name That Bait

First one is a South Bend Optic. A lipless cracker that, when it vibrates, the plastic ridges on the sides make the interior black lines move.

    Name That Bait

Don't know how the bottom one, think it's Bagley's Spinner Minnow, got lost in my old tackle. Looks like fish catcher and has a unique paint job.
  20. Passing the time in the cold weather, looked through old tackle.
  21. January 8, 2015, I jokingly posted on the "Just can't decide between the Float-n-Ned or the Ned A-rig. Will need a new rod for each set-up." Guess that's a real option after all. What's next??
  22. I can enjoy fishing alone but much prefer having a fishing partner. But I really like to fish the locations, styles, speed and baits that I have confidence in based on conditions at the time. In other words, I like having control of the boat. Get a little frustrated when I am locked in to fishing one way or place when I think we are missing out in not fishing other areas or techniques.
  23. Good lookin' spot!

    1/30/15

    Yep, it's all about calibration.
  25. Still some at Sam's Chesterfield, MO, on the rack across from other eyewear, but they are packaged so you can't try them on. That's a no go for me. Need to see how they fit. They look good though.
