  1. He was a favorite of mine too. RIP.
  2. Were you able to find something to eat? Love the 11 point. This one is thanks to my grandson Lane.
  3. Who would have thought an invertebrate could be like that? When she is clearly just playing with the fish.... I mean really... The family aspect with his son got to me too. I put it in my top five for certain.
  4. I've canned and eaten a lot of carp. Clean rinsed chunks as tight as you can get them in a pint jar. Tablespoon of ketchup, teaspoon salt ( or less for HBP people), one bay leaf. Pressure can for 90 minutes once you get to pressure (10 PSI). Good eating for anybody that likes canned fish of any kind.
  5. I know they came from a hatchery somewhere and that's about it.
  6. I dropped mine one time getting back in the truck after getting fuel. Same story, that was about the same time when it happened to me. It was a gas station in St. Peters. Left it in a bar in Dogtown one time too and got a call the next day. So I guess I've had my share of good luck too.
  7. I wish I had your luck.
  8. Best wiper spot I ever fished was below the lock and dam on the lower Osage, upstream of Mari-Osa. Killed them on chrome rattletraps.
  9. On the old conservation cafe, my username was Horace. Several people were surprised when they actually met me.
  10. Coffee cup more than once. A Stanley Thermos that I still have. Wrenches on the back bumper more than once. Last time a guy saw it and told me at a light. My phone. Got lucky on that one, remembered it before it fell off. Nothing like what Nash Buckingham did.

    What's Cooking?

No tomato paste, diced fire roasted with garlic. Looked for a rutebaga or some parsnips. No luck. So carrots and a couple or three yukon gold. Will have corn, green beans, canneloni beans and a bit of cabbage.
  12. A few deer or so it seems.

    What's Cooking?

I've got the crockpot going with an oxtail that I seasoned dry last night and let sit in the fridge overnight. Seared in a hot cast iron out on the cooking table. Big onion, six cloves of garlic rough chopped, two bay leaves 1/4 C Worcestershire, cup of beef broth, cup of vegetable broth set on high. Sous chef for vegetable soup and croissants for the Chiefs game tomorrow. Want that oxtail super done and cooled so I can separate bones and other inedibles and then finish with a veggie extravaganza.
  14. Okay here is a good one that's on Netflix. "My Octopus Teacher" Documentary and well worth your time, I promise.
  15. Thank your lucky stars she didn't find the real stash.
  16. Let me know what you thought of it. I'm not worried.
  17. Watch "My Octopus Teacher". Trust me on this one.
  18. What, you don't have any old spark plugs to miscast?
  19. You biologists give me a headache. That said, my next netflix experience is going to be "My Octopus Teacher". Headache or no, dankeschein.
  20. Back from the dead. By an advertiser's first post. Good google work Mary P.!
  21. And you need a reliable motor and know the capabilities of whatever you are in.
  22. Kidney stone was the most intense pain I've ever experienced. Good luck bobby b. Hope you have better luck passing the verdamnt thing than I did.
  23. That's really fast. We put a couple out this spring too and no sign of anything yet.
  24. This one is hard to watch - especially for an old guy like me - but I hung in there and watched it all. When it was over, Lovey and I both said wow, that was something. King of Staten Island. Do not expect a light hearted feel good comedy. You've been warned.
  25. When did you put them out?
