  1. I've always enjoyed getting to the root of whatever is in front of me. I tried and tried and tried and ultimately failed to instill in an O&M staff running water and sewer systems to not just fix a problem. But to find and fix what caused the problem to surface.
  2. How so?

  4. Rob Johns and I are coming down that weekend regardless. Staying ???
  5. Any closer to picking dates?
  6. Coming back from the dead can get expensive.
  7. How on earth did I forget that recommendation? It really is great.
  8. South Dakota is great. Sioux Falls to start, then Corn Palace, then the Sacajewa statue memorial, then drive through the badlands, then Wall Drug, then Rapid City and the Black Hills and Mount Rushmore, then drive through Custer Park and dodge bison on the way to Hot Springs. Take a soak in "The Plunge" there and visit the Mastodon site. Head into Wyoming and Devils Tower on the way up to Dubois on the Wind River. Dubois is a cool town. Butch Cassidy ran the general store there for a while, and there's a Rocky Mountain Sheep museum that's impressive. Then drive west through the mountains to Yellowstone. After Yellowstone, the Tetons and Jackson Hole on the Snake River. After that somebody else needs to take over other than go up the Columbia River Valley. Have a safe and fun trip. I promise you these ideas are worth the time. It really is a beautiful area.
  9. See!!!
  10. I was reading about ice fishing up on the great lakes and it appears prostitution is a thing in the ice fishing shanty villages that pop up in the wintertime there. So. There you go onehsot, sometimes there's more to an activity in Outdoor Life than what you usually would think of.
  11. I always wanted a mule. Mainly because I wanted to name it Jubilee. But it's a little late now.
  12. my goodness how the worm has turned away from jim and jack. the only thing worse than a reformed smoker is a reformed drinker. whether really reformed or not.
  13. Well, not 100% necessary. The no chain is a bit of a pain but somehow I'm able to fish it without one.
  14. I'm one of the whatever people. Sometimes beer, especially at a good brewery, quality single malt scotch is always welcome,. So is good bourbon and I can make a righteous Cuba Libre. Once when I got off the river on a long hot day I wanted five margaritas. And about a martini. My house serves a good one. So, come on over. We'll have a drink.
  15. I don't even own a trolling motor.

    Opsss

Back in another century, I owned a few businesses in Jefferson City. One morning I was driving west on Hwy. 50 right in town. Coming my way was one of my company trucks followed closely by a flatbed trailer with the kubota tractor on it, heading up and over the dividers. Hung up before getting into oncoming lanes. Memorable, memorable.
  17. 14 to 16 will work for me. The earlier dates are out. Hope to see folks there.
  18. And then there's the term hypochondriac. I've thought that for a long time here, notwithstanding that foot.
  19. Unless you're talking Garand, then the clip goes in the magazine....
  20. I've never been a pole climber but have been up my share of water towers and standpipes. Going up and down didn't bother me that much but being outside on top of a tower or standpipe was not my idea of pleasant except for the view. One time long ago my best friend and I floated from Rush to Norfork. Still one of the most memorable trips ever. Lost a frying pan in Clabber. Nearly lost the boat at Buffalo City when we got out for a walk while we didn't know the White was on the way up. Came back from the walk to see the boat doing lazy circles in an eddy about 100 yards downstream. Luck was with us then. The Buffalo is magic, just magic.
  21. buzzbaits are so much fun. Nice Pete.
  22. Love it. A thing of rare beauty, and from your own hands. Take justifiable pride.

    What's Cooking?

Tri tip leftovers warmed in fresh garlic butter with candied jalapenos and some cheddar cheese. On whole wheat.
  24. Meat cooks the same on a pellet smoker or charcoail. For baby backs 200 or 210 for about three hours is my thing.
  25. I've had both knees and both hips replaced. Hips didn't give me much trouble at all. Hardest part was to remember what I wasn't supposed to do. Knees were different - required a lot of PT and rehab to get back to normal - but they did. I'm pain free now in those parts. Wish I could say the same for my shoulders. So, I think she's faking you out. Next time she's taking a nap, try hollering FIRE! FIRE! and see how she handles that. You can feel free to ask for more relationship advice anytime.
