  1. The 2 pound test line sure doesn't hurt the story any. Cool deal.
  2. If you get a chance, The Fish House in Key Largo is a great place to eat. Whatever the best fish they have when you are there done Matecumbe is something I don't think you'll ever forget. I had hogfish done that way. Incredible is the right word.
  3. This thread: Words fail me...
  4. Great post John and all your fellow Folly's.
  5. I got a divorce a few years ago. Was in touch with my lawyer prior to getting it going. His advice which was sterling was to wait for a day when she is gone, take everything you hold dear with you and do not go back home under any circumstances. Divorce is tough but a good lawyer can make a lot of difference. Good luck getting paid for your gear, my bet is you never see any of it again.
  6. May is about as early as tomatoes do well outdoors. They do not like cold feet.
  7. Drive down to Isla Morada while you are close. Perry Scuderi is the guide to get if you can.

If I thought I might be going to a gunfight, I'd go someplace else.
  9. There are not as many in my neighborhood as ten years ago - but still not scarce.
  10. Milo Marty strikes again! Glad everything turned out right for you.
  11. What do you do with the shad you catch?
  12. As much as I hate to admit it, the world needs rice more than trout. BTW, I love your straight up reporting posts and photos. Maybe someday we can share a boat.
  13. What, that is has liver in it or the casing is natural?
  14. I didn't have a car, a motorcycle, trouble with the law or a pregnant girlfriend. All I knew at the time was College wasn't ready for me and vice versa, and I needed to get out of the town where I lived and away from the people I was hanging out with. This was in 1970 when there was a draft. I didn't want to go to Leonard Wood, then Fort Hood and then be the FNG in an Army platoon in the jungle either. So a two year enlistment in USMC sounded a little like a lark and when I got out there would be GI bill for college and so on. It wasn't a lark but it wasn't all that bad either. Got to see and do a lot of things before I turned 21. I'm a Viet Nam veteran who never set foot in country, I did my time there on ship. Closest I got to shore was about a thousand yards in a Landing Craft, but we were only practicing. The rest is history. No interventions, no rehab, did do college on the GI bill though, which was really the only option for me as my family was not what anybody would call well off. I'm glad I did it with no regrets. I've never said one thing to anyone who didn't go. And when anybody says thank you for your service to me, my response is always "no problem, it was my honor". Which in retrospect it truly was. So there.
  15. As long as we're talking about bad ways to die, I always thought of a hitch in the Navy as prison, with a chance of drowning.
  16. At the same meeting the 12 states are also proposing to close fishing during the spawn,
  17. The safety statistics are proven too. Don't worry though, being irrational about flying or other ways to travel is also a thing.
  18. Wrench, do you believe statistics are a thing or just another way to pull your leg?
  19. I'm a believer in a sink full of hot water and a couple of drops of dawn then a nice big reel dunk and swirl. Rinse with the sprayer. Shake the water off and then in a 200 degree oven for maybe a half hour or so. Real Magic after.
  20. Good thread oneshot. I am glad you got to go and have a big time.
  21. Cushioned lids are real. Why won't you help stimulate the economy at least a little bit?
  22. I moved her into a cardboard box with chick starter and water. Two are doing good and she still is setting on the eggs that haven't hatched.
