  1. HOA every single time unless you like the idea of getting told what to do without any of your own input.
  2. I still use a 1000 grit diamond plate on some knives. I really like that edge on hunting knives.
  3. Yes, that's right. Consistent pressure on the belt and using the bottom guide correctly is the deal. You do get a convex edge. Operative word being edge. I have an Old Hickory boning knife that arrived very very dull. Ten minutes or so on the KOWS and it's razor sharp. DO NOT run the tip off the edge of the belt.
  4. Way to stay after the rabbit Pete.
  5. Ken Onion Edition Worksharp. Fast and effective.
  6. That's a good one.
  7. This has been quite the storm system. I could complain about the gravel loss in the driveway but I will keep it in perspective. Stay safe everyone, it doesn't appear to be over quite yet, at least according to the NWS.
  8. Nicely done sir. Nicely done.
  9. Fair point. Not everybody is cut out for that life though. Me for one. I quit the highest paying most enjoyable job I ever had (Environmental Department for Union Electric) to start my own business on the strength of one contract to prepare an Operation and Maintenance Manual for Collier County FL. On the face of it, a dumb move, took me five years or more to be making the same money as what I left behind. Lots more hours and stress but in the end it all worked out darned well. I'll leave out all the bloody details. One thing about being a player in the world of big business is you better like big cities and travelling. I got totally sick of both.
  10. Working for yourself with a good business plan is the only way to make real money, short of hitting the lottery.
  11. Florida Keys Fishing Excursions (captainperry.com) Perry Scuderi put me on a good one. He was fishing out of Bud and Mary's at the time.
  12. You could kayak my backyard right now. When it's like this it's actually more riveryard. Catches a lot of runoff from the neighboring pasture.
  13. I'm sure you've got a source for this.
  14. Scoped 28 gauge or .410 with the $10 each #9 hevi shot is the go to gun for the young turkey hunters. I bet you could handle one of those if you really want to turkey hunt.
  15. My buddy took me to Golden Corral after my last one. He still tells the story about how I was eating a chicken leg while loading my plate.
  16. We're heading to Cherokee NC in May. We'll take some gear too. Nice stop Pete!
  17. Mitch told me all about it.
  18. Just kidding wrench, I know how much you love one.
  19. The best tip you'll get today is be there ready to fish when the whistle blows. Fish in a frenzy for the first fifteen minutes or so. Edit: Use 2-pound test mono. Weaver's can spool you up.
  20. High School sports - you pick which one - are nothing like what any of us ever had growing up. Those guys fishing instead of football, basketball, or baseball work just as hard and deserve just as much respect. They're all on another level now.
  21. Dry here. Nothing yet in my usual place in the backyard. Asparagus is nothing yet too, but the patch has been burned off and salted. Patience is a virtue, right?
  22. I have some very fond memories of Maifests and Octoberfests in Hermann in the late '80's. A bit on the wild side but not like what got the fests shut down. Great food and plenty of wine most of it too sweet. Loved the music and dancing drunks. A fun time if you want something like that. At the time we did.
  23. Gonna mount that one?
