I wouldn't hold my breath, I bet he'd say "The Creed" if someone else would put a crawler on for him... 🤣

^^^ that, and if you happen to be there during or right after a gulley-washer, find a ditch or back end of a creek arm that has some muddy inflow. Doesn't even have to be a lot.

1974 16'6" Falcon HAS A ROTTEN TRANSOM. 1988 Yamaha 130ETLG 2-stroke carbed outboard, rebuilt in '04 - good, strong motor 2004 Nationwide tandem trailer For a restore project or use the motor, trailer and accys on another hull. The boat transom is soft and noticeably flexes. It's sat unused in my carport for the last 10 years, and it's time to go. I personally overhauled the 130 Yamaha in 2000 with .040 Wiseco pistons, Boyzen reeds, and OEM bearings, gaskets etc when I was service manager at a local Yamaha dealer. I drained the carbs and fogged the cylinders when I parked it. Strong, dependable motor. Bought the trailer new, it has low mileage tires and a minor dent in the R (steel) fender. Complete dual graph/tri location/dual pedal, 24V/60lb Pinpoint networked TM system w/GPS, maps, and depth/creek/shore tracking. 25G shad tank w/pump and oxygen flowmeter (I'm keeping the oxy bottle for my torch). Two Anchormates w/20lb MK claws. Hydraulic trim tab system, switched at helm. Rod holders. XL aereated livewell. Rod & gear storage. Bimini top. 3B OB charger. SS prop Everything was working fine when I parked it. Priced to sell, as-is, no warranty. Clean title on trailer and detailed bill of sale. To help convey my confidence in the motor, last weekend I ran a compression test, then re-fogged it. 130, 134, 130, 128. When I bought the motor, the CDI ignition module had been robbed. The CDI was $900 at the time, but we happened to have a blown V6 of the same vintage with a complete ignition system, so that's what I used. The only drawback is the oil alarm circuit was incompatible, but since that only alarms for oil levels in the reservoirs, it wasn't a problem for me. I now have the correct new OEM stator & trigger and a good used CDI box that goes with it should you want to restore it to stock and regain the alarm function. This vintage of Yamaha was like an early '70s Maytag, normal care and they go forever. I'd recommend replacing the fuel hoses and WP impeller before firing it up. Safe to assume the batteries are toast. I ran four group 27s under the helm for the Pinpoint and accys and a single, dedicated OB group 24 under the stern deck. The transom is flat and small, and the 'glass is thick, so it should be an "easy" fix as transoms go if you went that route. It's a heavy hull with a Hanby's keel guard. $2,500.00 OBO. If you want to look at it I'm only home weekends and after 4:30 on weekdays. Bella Vista, Arkansas. PM me and I'll respond asap. Added: The accessories were all added as accessories, not OEM, so easy to retrofit to another hull.

Sonar is AF, not RF, but I know what you mean. OTOH, if you can figure out how to make RF work underwater, you could hire Elon to be your pool boy... 😉
-
That should be as easy as aiming the same unit as the other guy at the same spot (or at his boat).

There was a big crowd at the new stateline legal weed store on 71 when I drove by tonight, and the breeze is from the west...
-
Absolutely. And also write who, where & when on the back. I have 2 huge trunks of old family photos, 90% of which are unmarked and faces I don't recognize. The more time passes, the more worthless they become.
-
Might find a flathead there come July that you could catch purely by accident. 😉
-
Geez, I.ve successfully fished intentionally for flatheads dozens of times and about half were rod & reel. Been skunked too, but that's how you learn. What I'll share; Night time, away from humanity. Dead stealth, either tied up or drifting. No lights, no noise, no TM, and only brief use of sonar. Live green sunfish about the size of your hand. 7/0 hooks. If you're tied up, heavy 3-way rigs cast near (but not in) cover. Drifting, you put 'em on balloons or those giant slip-floats, set less than 10' deep. Fish those rigs over deeper water near bluffs/rocks. Tiny cyalume sticks in the balloons or zipped to the floats make it more funner. Good baits will keep the floats bobbing and moving, but you can tell when a flattie gets near. There's lots of other ways that work, but if you want 'on purpose', that's it.

Way back in the days before commercial trout feed, that's how they fed trout too. There's a chapter devoted to that in my old hatchery manual.

They’re a great place to securely store spare skirt segments, a tool kit, bottled drinks, cell phones and small clothing items such as hats and gloves. Molded with high impact plastic, the Neoteric glove box dimensions are … Door: 13 7/8 inch (352 mm) long x 5 5/16 inch (135 mm) high Box: 11 7/8 inch (302 mm) long x 4 3/8 inch (111 mm) high x 6 3/4 inch (171 mm) deep Installation hole: 12 1/8 inch (308 mm) long x 4 5/8 (117 mm) high Part: #6706 Spare Parts Kit Our Spare Parts Kit gives you the parts, tools and hardware to get your hovercraft quickly back in operation if there’s a problem – without having to waste time searching for uncommon parts in your local store. When you need a skirt segment, skirt ties, fuses, light bulbs, skirt rivets, a drain plug, a fan belt, fan shaft bearing or fan blade, or other necessary items, this Spare Parts Kits saves the day. So you gotta buy the deluxe model to get brakes, but that'll do 45 fwd and 25 in reverse w/6 people on flat water. With selective braking, a pilot worth his salt could show 4-5 adults a ride you can't get at the carnival/Branson jet boat experience, but on the James. Good to be onboard, sux bad to be in the way.

So you think those are bad things? Just curious.
-
Some of them have thrust diverters that offer a "brake" function, as well as 15mph in "reverse". 🤔 https://mantis.neoterichovercraft.com/buck-bg.webm

Turn it into trout feed, which is already 90% fish meal. That's ~85/100 conversion rate to a commercially desirable product.

Just found this one, and amazing is an understatement. Etta James & Dr John;

Dad told me when he was a kid in the old house I grew up in that they'd heat bricks on the wood stove then wrap 'em in burlap and take 2 or 3 to bed with them. He also said he woke to a bit of snow on the covers more than once in that drafty old attic room. I never understood why they called 'em 'the good old days'.

The only time I could have ever been considered a 'wader' was when I carried the gunny sack when I was a kid and the adults were noodling. Rest of the time was on the bank or in a boat... no hip boots required.

No, nor threads started by the blocked user. You can even click a drop-down menu to view a specific post... ...not that you'd want to. 😉 Still, it beats stepping into a pile of crap when you've got your good shoes on.

Reminds me of an old classified ad in the KC Star from the late '70s for Milton's Jazz-N-Juice; down on 30-something Main; "Bad Credit? Hot Checks? Don't matter to me, come on down I ain't mad at nobody." Milton The place had an 8' folding table with like 500 45s piled on it and a decent turntable in the middle of the pile. When you came in you picked a few to add to the playlist, really cool.

Must be February again...

That was me exactly. River worms/summer, shad guts/winter. Pretty fool proof. One example of winter shad was Sherman's Pond... In ~'76, a drinkin' buddy had an Uncle Sherman, who had a 2 acre pond he fed catfish in. He wouldn't let his nephew (my buddy) fish there, and was notorious for staking out his pond and busting sneak fishers. Sooo... naturally we HAD to fish Uncle Sherman's pond. Learning from the (bad) luck of others, we went at ice-out for a couple nights when no sane person would be out fishing. The very best time there was only a 20x20 corner thawed, you threw out on the ice, drug it in, and only had to wait a minute or two to get a 3-5lb channel. Turned out my buddy was averse to the shad, and asked me to bait his hook (did I mention we were drinking?). I told him if he'd say The Creed I'd bait his hook. The Creed was, "My name is Mar* Cas*, I'm a non-fishing p**** b****, and I don't like shad!" He agreed. So I baited both our hooks till we got big stringers, he said The Creed many times, and we bugged out with a pre-scheduled pickup. My friend would never admit to saying The Creed after that. Uncle Sherm eventually busted us. It was either turn ourselves in to the sheriff for trespassing or forfeit our gear. We chose the latter. Sherm must have had a barn full of Zebco 33s, 'glass rods and Coleman lanterns. Then Uncle Sherm passed away. Guess who fished his pond the day of his funeral...

Yeah, I've been on the business end of a whacker-packer more than I'd have chosen to... It's odd/cool that we all have similar memories of river worms. I just put "return to the Grand River, dig green river worms, catch fish" on my brief bucket list.
