  1. Yep. Thats the same cabin we stayed at. One of our best vacations.
  2. or a foot pedal trolling motor
  3. I totally agree, something needs to be done on both sides. I don't know which is worse, the hordes of party floaters or crazy jet boaters. I just can't go to the rivers in the summer anymore. Makes me sick what I see.
  4. It was disgusting yesterday on a middle section of the Big. The boats are impressive no doubt, but doing doughnuts and throwing huge rooster tails and whipping up and down the river recklessly. I was really hoping they would crash.
  5. Just now reading your report, Ness, I'm a bit behind! Sad to hear about the Cascade Cottages. Really liked staying there -- they seemed like super nice folks.
  6. Enough already. Go build yourself a mud hole to play around in. You don't belong on our rivers and streams. Go to Texas or anywhere else . . . . please.
  7. Durn it. This is a disappointing conclusion to a legendary tale. I had envisioned two grown men wrestling on a gravel bar, curse words and gravel and sand a flying', maybe even gunplay, or least threats of gunplay, and possible Johnny Law showing up way too late to try and sort it all out. What do we get?? Heart-felt apologies in front of some gals.??
  8. I'm a big believer now in the Mitch Craw. They produced pretty durn well on the upper Jacks Fork this past weekend. Thanks, Mitch!
  9. Its pretty comfy. Wish it offered a little more back support and didn't smell like sweaty balls.
  10. Impressive. Nice release, too!
  11. Paul Dallas needs to get out. Who can take me fishing tomorrow? Is the HW Pope available? Smalliebigs? I also need a good gravel bar to be dropped off on with a cooler of beer and then picked up in the late morning on Sunday. PM me if interested.
  12. Have to stir the pot every now and then. This dump has gotten stale.
  13. Go RiverPro or go home son. And be sure to keep to the far right of the channel!
  14. Very nice! I hear there are some monsters in there. This confirms it.
  15. Well, since the topic that raised my left brow was "a few questions for the pros" . . . and even though I get bombarded with these kinda questions all the time from the media, pro-bass-circuit 3rd place-hanger-onners and wanna-be club tourney "prophets-of-the-pond", and of course countless supermodels in hotel bars with less than honorable intentions . . . I have to admit the way you phrased it . . . . drew 'ol Paul Dallas in not much different than the bat signal draws in Batman. Try a 1/4 oz purple rooster tail suspended 16 inches under the biggest red and white bobber you can find. Fish it on dreary wind-blown banks in March and April over pea-gravel substrate and if the pH of the water is in the range of 6.8 to 7.2 . .. water temp between 48 and 52 . . . Kiss that bucket-mouth on the lips Jimmy Houston style and tell em Paul Dallas says hello
  16. Funnier still . . . . 2 separate RiverPro dorks approaching each other at 48 mph in opposite directions at that very bend in the river, each totally deaf to the others approach, closing distance, and check my math here . . . 96 mph! Awesome.
  17. You're right, you can't tell the story from the video. It just didn't look like the boat that was heading upstream was moving very fast at all, and to say they should've been on the right, given their relatively much much slower speed, seems ridiculous.
  18. Wait a minute. You're going 48 mph downstream around a blind corner . . . and its their fault for not staying to the right?
  19. Nah, thats a Marlboro light. I'll take it down. Don't want people to get the wrong idea.
  20. Ken - thanks for coming to my brother Frank and I's rescue. What a chance encounter! I don't know if I would have gotten him into the boat without your help. Good to see you again. Had a great time at the Lodge, Justin and Amy. Wonderful place to stay as always. Fishing was great on Friday. Saturday was not as easy.
  21. Taking the bellman's cart to haul fishing gear down to the waters edge. Love it!
  22. You're overthinking it. Nightcrawler under a red-and-white plastic bobber and some split shot to sink it to the appropriate depth you are seeking. Problem solved.
  23. Paul Dallas would like samples to test to see if bona fide. Please contact my agent and make the arrangements, Mitch. Paul Dallas product endorsement on late night Japanese TV fishing shows could pay off handsomely, just saying. Colors wanted: root-beer metal flake with Vodka habanero impregnated scent or the usual watermelon pumpkinseed, motor-oil, electric blue, taffy-apple ju-ju. Or whatever you got. PD
  24. Nobody goes there anymore. Its too crowded. There's a couple good spots around Cardiac and Suicide, but most of the fish are up close to the spring, and when I say "most", its all 7 of them.
  25. Good stuff Burt. Your choice of water and your timing wasn't the best, but thats how it goes sometimes, an adventure nonetheless. At least you got to experience the flora and fauna of Salem, and though I have never darkened the Roadhouse door, it does sound inviting and full of opportunity for mischief. Thanks for the tip. The river is borderline legit, under the right conditions, but I've come to learn that NO RIVER will ever show favor nor pull up its dress to those preoccupied with baseball fandom . . . . . . never mind late arrival, and sketchy directions from a guy named Larry at Parker Holler. Ye got what ye dee-zerved.
