  1. Yea, a lot of those movies in the late 60's and 70's did not have the feel good theme. I like that they had to rely upon good acting, directing and cinematography, less on the special effects and flashy editing.
  2. I'm sure this is in a lot of top 5 lists, but the "The Deer Hunter" just started on FLIX and i'm watching again. Good movie
  3. Text "g taney" wihout the quotes to this number 913-270-0360. you will get temp and dissolved oxygen.
  4. I fished Friday from 11:00 to 2:00 drifting up and down the Narrows, started really good, lots of actions drifting scuds and san juans, then water turned off, and wind shifted directions and colder front moved in, turned off like a spigot for me.
  5. Here are some text instructions... 1. Click the upper right red/white icon and select settings 2. Scroll down to site settings and click 3. Scroll down to content section and make sure javaScript is allowed and images indicates "show all" 4. If that does not work, then make sure your Anti Virus and Ad blocker settings are'nt to restrictive, to test turn off and see if it resolves issues, if does, then you should be able to fine tune or whitelist ozark anglers in these settings.
  6. So i saw your previous screen shots.. try this... follow the steps below, the goal is to see if javascript is enabled and loading images is allowed in your browser settings. Also, check these settings, but if you have any antivirus/ad blocker software running, make sure it's not turned up to much, that could also be the problem, To test you could turn off, then see if it resolved, but don't leave it off, you might have to fiddle with settings.
  7. Also, are you seeing any images in adds or profile images of users?
  8. What do you get with images? can you share a screen shot of your browser?
  9. It looks like Google Chrome, the message also looks like a forum message dialog, not a google chrome dialog message. I'm using Google Chrome and seems to be working fine for me. I'm on a mac. The "like" link is an http url, but that should not be a problem. Hover over the like heart and right click, you will bring up a menu shown below. Click "open link in new tab". This will show a new tab with the link, hit enter and it should perform the like, or you will get some kind of message, I'm curios what is does. or maybe this will provide some more info to help diagnose.
  10. I'm a city boy, what's a "thumper" in the world of moonshine?
  11. Bought a fish Thumper. Apparently they simulate, sonically, white bass, hybrids, and crappie pounding bait fish. I've fished with guides in saltwater who will "thumb" the bottom of the boat to get attention, guessing it's the same idea, curios to see if this works. I fly fish Clinton(Lawrence,KS) for these species, will let you know if it works. It's a ball peen hammer hooked to a 12v motor in an Ammo can. Search "fish thumping" on youtube and you will see videos on the idea.
  12. It does thanks, assuming your using a couple marabou plums, with a thread wrapped collar? No worries if it's a trade secret
  13. Thanks for the reports. interesting that the micro jig is out fishing the midge. Love to see your micro jig pattern?
  14. I would not go less than an 8 weight for salt, also drag can come into play, so a decent reel is a good idea, especially if you connect with a big bull red. Salt water fish strength is incredible. Lots of those salt fish have big eyes, so I like longer floro leaders. Floating salt line is best, but freshwater works, just wash it good the same day you fish, same with a non salt sealed bearing reel.
  15. One of my buddies is looking for a Stealthcraft, showed him the info, he's very interested, you can call him at 816.516.4295 his name is Jaime. Or you can give me your contact info and I'll forward it. Sweet deal. Thanks, David
  16. If you are fly tyer, especially a vintage fly tyer, this is a must read. Great true story, and did not realize some of those Vintage guys have some larceny in their soul \
  17. Phil, Thanks for the report. there's a dissolved oxygen and temp meter at the school of the Ozarks down from your place. I added it to the SMS app. If you text. "g taney" ,without the quotes , to this number 913.270.0360 it will report current readings. Does this gauge provide accurate enough reading? What levels of D/O are considered good? Thanks, David
  18. Was out today and missed this, will try and make the next one.
  19. Fished trophy section this evening with 200 mhw generation from cable to ramp. Fly fished with a deep rig, 4 bb, big indicator, about 10-12 foot leader, scuds and san juans, did pretty well, most of the fish where big and fat, however they appeared sluggish and a couple took a bit to revive without a long fight. Could this be the DO level? Not sure what is considered good or bad? Here's the current DO level at the school of the ozarks sensor. You can get the current level by texting "g taney" no quotes to 913-270-0360
  20. K, this might not suite everyone, but maybe folks that have a sense of humor, likes Led Zepplin, Elvis, Reggae, and appreciate tight good musicians..
  21. Pretty sure you can't just order a segment, they have to match it up. Contact Hobb's creek, I think is Bass Pro model? I fish TFO, Orvis, and Sage rods and embarassed to say broke them all, not on fish. Only excuse is I fish a lot, but mostly careless. They all have pretty good repair policies, varying prices.. Orvis is 60 dollars, Sage 30, and TfO 30.. Send in the remaining segments, they repair and send back.
  22. Thanks that's good info... will try and avoid the "canoe hatch"
  23. Yes, just a day float, going last part of June sometime. Thanks, David
  24. I've never fished the James, planning a trip floating in a raft and flinging flies for Smallies. Any suggestions where folks like to drop in at? Also open to any suggested streamer patterns. Thanks in advance.
  25. I've heard this called a peg egg... wrap the line through the bead twice, push a toothpick in and break off the end. I us a marker to color the toothpick stub red or pink. They make plastic pegs for this, but toothpick works well. Then about an inch below, tie on a hook, size 12 or 14 works. Then drop your scud off the hook bend. I've had luck with this at Taney. I know guides fish this type of bead rigs in the winter at the White chasing big browns, they vary the egg/bead color and fish them two at a time. Also, not sure on the regulation, in Missouri, seems like I heard they require some kind of thread wrap, can't have bare hook, but not sure, might be illegal in Colorado. It's legal in WY, where they fish this type of rig.
