I liked the Cars. An old girlfriend bought us concert tickets to see them in '84. Wang Chung was the warm up band. They had better stage presence than the Cars. The concert was fine but could have been just as good listening to the albums at home. -
New Miro reel I found online.

Hey Daryk that last fish looks pretty cool. Any other photos? It might be a steel color shiner. -

The last 13+17 year hatch that I recorded was in June 2011. That was when we were fishing those bluegill in my earlier post. -
I have fished there twice and still haven't caught a grass pickerel😒. Caught all those other species there as well but can't get an Esox to eat. Maybe a third time is the charm🤞just don't know when that will be. I've caught them in Crane creek but didn't take any pictures. I just need a photo.

@FishnDave great job on those snakeheads! They are a fun fish. Hopefully a few made their way home since I think that they are a good eating fish as well. Hopefully the wife likes the beard 😉.

One of my favorite MO butterflies!
-
I haven't caught one yet and definitely want to catch a few. We have them along the coast here in the late summer and fall. Just haven't put in the time to get one on the line yet. Certainly wouldn't mind catching them in LA or TX.

Some nice fat brownies! I would love be in the back of the boat on one of those trips😉
-
That brown has some thick shoulders that it's head looks to be from a smaller fish. Looks like a great day Pete!

My kids and I make eggs benedict for my wife on mother's day and often on her birthday. It's one of her favorites.

When we were in Columbia during the last big emergence, we filled a syrofoam bucket with them and fished for bluegill. Put on a cicada, cast, set hook, reel in and release. By the time that you let the fish go another cicada would "volunteer" by climbing to the rim. -
Hey Marty - I didn't read the whole article, but did they mention if bot flies expanding their range?
-
I knew a guy in grad school that had a botfly on his arm during a 2 month trip that he did in Costa Rica. He wanted to let it go to term and emerge so that he could be the ultimate "host". He said that it felt pretty strange moving around and the butt end sticking out kind of freaked him out. He ended up having one of his roommates that was experienced in pulling caddisfly larve from their cases without damaging them to remove the larva intact.

You can't forget the classic movie with her and Geena Davis - Earth Girls are Easy 🤣

I had to look that one up Mitch. Had me stumped.

Very true. I heard the song the other day and couldn't get the Ozempic lyrics out of my head.

Season in the Sun by Terry Jacks - Must have been a really a depressing guy🤔

Here's probably an even more obscure hint. The B side of the forty-five for this song was one titled "Put the Bone In" about a dog that was hit by a car.

Reminds me of a story from my grad school days. I was helping one of the other grad students that was doing a live trapping study of small mammals in a couple of different ecosystems. To mark the animals we would clip off a toe starting with the pinky toe on the left fore paw, then the next toe to the right, etc for each new animal. That way we could recognize the ones that have been captured previously and we could estimate the population from the number caught vs the number recaptured. For the mice and shrews we would just hold them by the scruff of the neck while we clipped that toe. For chipmunks we would put them in a ziploc bag (not fully closed). I would grab its tail and secure the head before cutting a small hole in the bag to pull out a foot for toe clipping. Compared to the mice those guys were wild and much larger. One of them tore its way out of the bag before we could clip it's toe. The researcher was distraught since we might not be able to id that same animal if it was recaptured. I said that she didn't need to worry since I was still holding it tail in the bag 😅😉. I did end up catching that guy at least one more time that summer. We did have a juvenile white-footed mouse that after he gave up the toe, we would catch him again each week of the study. One time we let him go and soon after heard another trap shut. We got over to that trap and there he was holding and eating a piece of oat meal with his little toe stump for us to see. We wanted to minimize the possible time in the traps. We would set them in the evening and then check them at first light. Most of the time we did not use a flashlight. There were a number of bears in the area and we found an active bear wallow and trails close to her study area. Often times in the morning there would be a thick fog. When we would get near the area with the bear wallow, there was a doe that would wait and blow just as we got there. She did that many times and we responded with a startled response everytime she did 🙄. I swear she did it just to get our response.

I throw out one. Here is the lyrics to start. You might jet the song but can you name the artist? "But the stars we could reach were just starfish on the Beach."

I bet the bowfin, grass carp and gar would hammer cicada flies. I remember when there was a big cicada hatch just raising some giant trout in skinny water during the day and catching bluegill on every cast until we got tired of reeling.
