Have caught some of my biggest Current river browns on days like that and typically between 10 am and 2 pm. On the time I always wondered if that the best time for them to eat or if it was just based upon that was when I got to less pressured waters.

Hey @BilletHead we have seen our first hummingbirds for this year and have one hitting the feeders. Figured that you guys probably have gone through a 50 lb bag of sugar for the year already 😉

MDC to offer Mississippi River catfishing clinic in Northeast Region Free two-day program will teach anglers to catfish using alternative methods. KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Catfishing is a fun way to discover nature in the summer months, and the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is offering anglers a special two-day program focusing on alternative methods. MDC will host a free Alternative Methods Catfishing Clinic Friday, July 29 from 4:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, July 30 from 8:00 a.m. – 12 p.m. on the Mississippi River in Alexandria. Friday evening participants will be taken on the Mississippi River and shown how to safely set lines and navigate the river. Once off the river, there will be presentations on regulations, tactics, and gear. During Saturday’s program, participants will head out on the river to check lines, learn about regulations, and hopefully harvest catfish. A fish cleaning demonstration will be conducted upon return from the river. MDC staff and volunteers will offer instruction on the basics of setline fishing on Missouri’s rivers and lakes. An MDC fisheries management biologist will also provide information on recent catfish surveys and management of fish populations. The program will focus on safe and legal use of trotlines and bank poles, gear, equipment, and boat operation. Fishing, safety equipment, and water will be provided. All other needs, including lodging and food, will need to be handled by participants. Fishing permits are required, unless otherwise exempt. The clinic is geared for participants ages 12 and older. My ex uncle Larry was his doppelganger. I was at my aunt and uncle's place when I first heard Summer Breeze. That solidified in my memory that Larry was part of Seals and Croft.

That is definitely a BIG IF.... I had a friend in PA that was independently wealthy. He stayed in the Poconos during the spring and summer and the Virgin islands in the winter. That type of person could really benefit from a part time home in SD.

If it were my shop I would go with Folly's Fly and Tangle shop😉 Seriously there are some decent suggestions that tie the shop to your resort business or with Taney interests in mind.

@FishnDave great looking LES. Still trying to find some of them here in MD. Have a couple of high probability spots to fish. None that I have seen here come close to the coloration of those Ozark LES. Love that baby bowfin. Almost want to try putting that guy in an aquarium😉. We also have been seeing quite a number of zebra swallowtail this spring.

Good luck Pete! I refer to that as stupid fishing. After missing on all of thos sculpin, just needed a spot to catch those stupid fish to get that mojo back.

Studies show that most stabbings are committted by someone close to the victim. Within arms length to be specific. And by the way that's why the bow and arrow was invented. I want to stab that guy but he is all the way over there! 🤣 My wife told me that i am the cheapest person that she has ever met. I don't buy that! 🤣

Western trout trips will start getting serious thoughts when (if) we get back to the midwest or I get a different job. Right now a full day of travel just to get to Illinois/Missouri and then have another full day or more of travel kills the planning right there. At this point even going away for a couple of days leaves me with a need to check in or attend at least one day of work meetings or emails. I just worry that the bug damage or fire damage will heat up and kill off a lot of those smaller streams.

Just teasing on my part. You guys in those heavily pressured areas have to do what you have to do to protect the fishery.

We'll have to look into a tether. I did make sure in case that you read these posts to put in plenty of photos😁. Since it's unlikely that anyone from OAF will fish these spots (or anyone from Maryland or Delaware will read these posts) I don't have to hide the backgrounds 😉.

29May22 - Sideling Hill Creek After fishing Fifteenmile creek we drove through the green ridge forest and eventually ended up at the Potomac river. We didn't fish, but I headed to Sidleing hill creek. There is a spot in Sideling Hill that I have fished before and has opportunities for greenside darters, bluntnose minnows, fallfish, redbreast sunfish and more. I just wanted a chance at some plentiful fish. Livie was happy to fish for sunfish under the bridge while I still went after sculpin and micros. I never saw a sculpin. but there were lots of bluntnose minnows and darters in the hole below the bridge. Finally caught my third darter species, greenside darter, in Maryland that satisfied one of my 2022 goals 😁. Livie had never caught a greenside darter. I wanted her to get one. She tried for a couple and didn't get one. I told her that there were so many in that pool. She conceded and while I moved downstream to check out if there was another pool below us. As soon as I crossed the creek, Livie caught her first greenside darter 😁. Unfortunately those photos were lost when her phone took a dip later downstream 😒. Livie by this point had caught 14 redbreast sunfish. I did find a pool and she caught a few more. I caught only a couple but I did catch my first rock bass in Maryland (My 55th Maryland species😁). While trying to get photos of this fish that was when Livie's phone took the dip. Livie got to 18 redbreast sunfish in that pool. We headed further downstream to get her at least two more for a full 20 for the day. There were a couple very nice but swift pools but no sunfish. Then we found this pool. Livie caught the 19th sunfish above the two boulders and her 20th downstream below the second boulder. We did see a couple of smallmouth and will have to go back to see about catching a few. As we headed out we found another wood turtle. This one was a male.

26May22 and 29May22 - Back at Fifteenmile Creek So I took off Thurs the 26th and we headed back to Fifteenmile creek to go after those Potomac sculpin. The water had some pollen on the surface I was concerned about being able to see the sculpin as they come out from hiding for our baits. Once we got to the water, the pollen was not a real problem. There were some male blacknose dace with their orange fins and coloration. So we spent some time trying for them. I tried to see if there were any sculpin under the rocks in that pool. I caught a few bluntnose minnows and several blacknose dace and creek chub, but no sculpin 😒. Livie never got one of the colored up male blacknose dace, but did catch quite a few. She also caught her first ever bluntnose minnow (lifer). So we found a few sculpin. The rocky structure was changed possibly due to flooding a week prior. So the spots that we found fish previously could not be found. I did find a rock that looked like there was activity below the rock. I pointed it out and let Livie put a bait in that hole and she caught yet another potomac sculpin (while dad still has none) Ok so hse caught two others and I still did not catch one. I did have a large sculpin take my bait but no hookset. Others did come out from the rock ledges and looked at my bait, but again no hooksets. We did find a couple of minnows that were under some of the flat rocks. They were bluish gray with a large head. I kept thinking of fathead minnows. However, these might have been bluntnose minnows. They would grab and move the baits over and over again more like what bedding bass do to clean their nests. Though I did not catch any sculpin, I did catch my first fantail darter in Maryland. That fish went towards one of my 2022 goals 😉. So not all was lost. Livie did get a change of pace by switching to a trout magnet and landed her first smallmouth bass in Maryland! The only one we was in this creek. On the way out I came across a wood turtle. I haven't seen one of these guys in about 40 years. We would see them when I would visit my cousins in upstate NY as a kid. Called Livie over and she was excited to see a new turtle, which she loves. After a couple of days, we went back. Saw even fewer sculpin. In the holes that had fish on Thurs I only pulled out crayfish. Was killing me. I did mess with two sculpin but that was short lived. I tried worm and trout dough baits to entice these guys. Livie caught a few common shiners including a very colorful male, but due to soaking her phone those photos have not been retrieved. Most notable event of the day was the photo op of this little guy. Except for my sculpin fails we had great days fishing Fifteenmile creek. Will get back soon.

Looks like a great time with three generations catching some nice gills and redears. So much fun, great memories and some great eating fish if you kept them!
