    What's Cooking?

We're still working on getting the salt level correct for our kraft. We were going to grab a larger crock when we passed thru Ohio, but trip COVID Canceled. Sue makes a really good french onion soup.i prefer a rich beef stock. We haven't played with onion varieties. She tends to just use the cheaper yellow onions. I can eat the soup alone but really like t he bread and cheese.
  2. Sounds like something that Pat has to worry about

  4. @FishnDave how did you digitize those old photos?
  5. When I first moved to Columbia I fished Hickson creek pretty regularly. Would catch LMB, spotted bass, smallmouth, bluegill etc. All of these were caught within the city limits. I decided to go further upstream one spring. I was hitting similar holes and catching a few fish. Then I got to a great long hole in terms of cover and water depth. I just knew that I would catch a bunch. Nothing, Nada, Zilch. I only saw one or two tiny bluegill. As I fished towards the upstream end two very healthy otters were swimming around. I can't help but think that they cleaned out the fish that I had suspected would be in this spot. I left soon after seeing them. Figured wouldn't catch much and I didn't trust not being able to see them while I was wading the creek.

    What's Cooking?

I don't use flour in mac and cheese. I start with butter and some sort of shredded cheese, usually cheddar or Colby mix. Melt butter and the cheese. I add milk while stirring to incorporate the cheese. Will keep adding milk until smooth. I often will add other cheese to the mix at that time. Fresh cracked pepper then add the mac.
  7. On my bucket list. Sill have lots of Atlantic fish to catch the next year or two then maybe a west coast trip or two.
  8. I don't spend enough time for the green bass. However, give me fiesty brown bass any day!
  9. Just can't give you a like for a stinkin green bass 🤣! Of course I haven't caught one yet this year🙄.
  10. Only after they have fished those main lake points😅
  11. Very nice Dan. Wrens are some of my favorites. White-breasted nuthatches are great as well. While hunting this year had a wren fly into the blind and sat on my crossbow scolding me then it would fly off 🙂.
  12. "I don't think that word means what you think that it means!"
  13. Haven't had enough time yet to be this grandparent... but looking forward to getting there 😉
  14. For those of us that are middle children
  15. What do you call a lazy baby kangaroo? A pouch potato 😅 Why do cows never have any money? The Farmer milks them dry🤣
  16. What do you call a Xmas tree decorated with bacon? A Pork-U-Pine 🤣 Why did the girl pig leave the boy pig? He was just a boar 😅
  17. It was winter. So I agree that it was likely going for the brains. Not a whole lot of fatty tissue anywhere else on a bluegill.
  18. They do a lot of clean up duty here. Anytime that you see a bald eagle out in a field or woodlot on the ground there is likely a deer carcass nearby. If there are several you know that it still ahs some eat on the bone.
  19. I really like that movie. We saw the lions in the Chicago Field Museum. Gave you chills looking into their eyes.
  20. No photo, but I caught a smallmouth bass on my honeymoon while fishing with my wife that was about a 1/4 to 3/8" longer than the Mepps spinner that I was fishing. She caught more fish, but I always tell her that I caught a bass !
  21. Jealous of that snook. Oh and the cobia as well. That is got to be the smallest barracuda that I have ever seen.
  22. I have only seen them eat fish. Watched one in a strip pit lake in Columbia. It would dive and catch bluegill, eat their heads only, and go dive for another one.
  23. Hoping to catch one here locally in Maryland in the next couple of weeks or sooner 👍
  24. Con Air was a funny decent watch if you don't think about all of the plot holes. Only John Malkovitch movies that I like him in were Red, Red 2, and Dangerous Liaisons (but what was there not to like about that last one). He was a despicable character in in the Line of Fire, which like in Con Air he does well. I remember seeing Valley Girl, but really don't remember it very well except he had weird chest hair. A guilty pleasure for me was The Rock, but that had Neil Harris and Sean Connery in it as well . I also really liked him in another guilty pleasure movie - Moonstruck. Again had Cher, Danny Aiello and Olympia Dukakis.
  25. "We got to get that Hy!" "Take that diaper off of your head and put it back on your sister " I love when Hy hits Glenn and then you see that Glenn is about 10 to 12 feet away after being punched. My opinion the best Nicolas Cage movie.
