Sounds like a great technique. Congrats on a mess of crappie! Great that you were able to take your dad fishing. As you can see by the other comments, many of us including myself no longer have that opportunity and miss it dearly. Cherish those time with family! -
Looks like I am not throwing the right baits for catching small shad ! I have to stop using #26 hooks for these guys.

Maybe 6 to 8 feet.

We grew them last year. Got five small but very tasty cantaloupes. Really just a novelty. Figure if we give them attention this year may get a few more. We'll see.

The peppers didn't like the winds that came through a couple of days ago. Need to get some stakes.

melons are doing well so far. Need to make a trellis or bamboo pyramid to get them something to grow onto.

certainly not as extensive as others on this thread but getting some size on our tomatoes. My wafe says that she has been picking the flowers and suckers evidence suggests not 🤔

Both broad-headed and five lined skinks have blue tails when young. We have both around our house. One or two young ones have come in from the porch.

Absolutely great photo! The leaves are almost like stained glass in that light. Of course I can only imagine all of the darters in that creek😁.

The way that I want it made is on white bread and ketchup so that the bread sticks to the roof of your mouth when you bite into the sandwich .

I actually really like pan-fried bologna, but prefer thinner slices. As a kid that was one of the few things that my dad would make us - fried baloney sandwiches .

I'll admit I'm not a big fan of Jeff Bridges and thus have never seen the Big Lebowski . Against my prejudice I actually liked his reboot of True Grit and R.I.P.D. is kind of a guilty pleasure movie for us. Other "classic" movies that I have never seen are the Big Chill and St Elmo's Fire. Or Kingpin (another bowling movie)

Awesome rainbow! Congrats and good luck on the rest of your Slam! The hardest parts are over. 11pt is by far more accessible to waders than the NFOW. For the NFOW if you don't have a canoe or kayak, I would look into Sunburst ranch or canoe/kayak rentals or shuttles.

Here's the closest that I have come to catching an orangespotted sunfish, a redspotted sunfish from SE Missouri. Same type of pond as what you have described. I caught this one on a microjig that I could have fished with a fly rod.

When I was last in Iowa back in July 2018 I was hoping to try for one then, but everything was flooded. A bit longer commute from MD now than when I lived in Columbia .

It was, but I felt that there would be less pressured fish in that area due to the difficulty of getting to the creek. Trying not to spook fish for one guy can be bad enough, but two on those little streams may just not work as you are seeing already. Good luck!

Congrats on the orangespotted sunfish! Great looking fish! Now I'm jealous. Been trying for them and just haven't caught one yet. And I'm not even trying to catch one with a fly🙄. Congrats again!
