You guys are serious about this stuff. I get along fine with just stock stuff. I fish with a stick and 2 Lb Maxima a lot in the swamp. Best bait caster I own is a 5500. If you can cast that..... The Orvis snobs laugh at my casting on the Ausable, Pere Marquette, and Manistee(back yard). I out fish them I do have WAY to much money in "new" gear, but I can catch all the fish I want/need with just the basics. Anybody need a lot of cool looking tackle?

How long can you leave an inline loaded? Pellets and sabot.

Just get out. Wear tick /bug dope. Get a good mushroom stick!!!! This is a necessary. When you find one freeze. 360 and look very close. They will be there. My 20 year old stick has a fork on the end. It flips leaves, bark and pins snakes. One of my prized possessions. Just clear your eyes and it will happen. They sneak up on you!!!!!!

I sold mine for $500.00 early this year and am regretting it. Was a 9.9 year 64. It was Granddads and ran like charm. Bad me.

The Manistee, AuSable and the Pere Marquette all fish well and have access points all along the rivers. What type of trip are you planning? Camping? Sightseeing? What part of the State do you plan on visting? Upper or lower? Be glad to help with a little more detail
