  1. Countless friends made here and I enjoy meeting new friends and every once in a while a guy will approach me and say hey you're JestersHK... that still feels weird lol. I talk or text to allot of these guys every day. Truly grateful for the fishing buddies I've made here. Wife still thinks I'm crazy meeting strangers in the dark to go stand in running water but nobody's pushed me in yet lol.
  2. I went a few times when I was a young teenager with my crazy cousins... I only ever pulled one out and that was enough for me as I figured with my luck I'd find a snapper or snake sticking my hand in underwater holes in muddy murky water. I think I'd do a trip with the guides who have the areas better marked and the fish hotels setup where they are more easily accessible and you're not diving down in muddy water... I dunno would prolly still need some liquid courage to do it
  3. I'll def try to make next one buddy, as long as I can catch a boat ride Flowers someone.
  4. I really need to get down and fish one of these... if anyone can tolerate me in their boat that day lol. Thanks for all you do Jeff and others who set these up.
  5. Thanks for posting John, that sounds awful. Been out many of nights till then... I should prolly start wearing a life vest when I'm in boats in the dark... especially in moving water
  6. My daughter said there was a fatal accident on NFOW River. Hope all our forum members are safe
  7. Me too, happy belated birthday and looks like a ton of fun
  8. When Geno buried this one and we went to Branson ER I kid you not they came in with bolt cutters... I was like hey man he had 10 digits when I brought him in here. I actually went out and got my multi tool out of my mary Poppins bag and used that to cut the hook after they sterilized it... I was like what the heck you're this close to two lakes and they didn't have anything to cut a hook...
  9. That is a beast right there... amazing fish. Wonder what the length was? Sounds like it was released? Wish article had more details... thanks for sharing though.
  10. I ain't got no fancy jet boat, but we can go chase some slicks on the current if you're looking for fishing bros... wader up for the win.
  11. I'm heading down next Wednesday @Phil Lilley if you'd like me to get it down there for you.
  12. Dang i like those new hats... glad you were able to get out and get into some.
  13. A true sea monster for sure. I hope my pet is still in my pond... haven't seen him since last year...
  14. They really pop under IR. They say you're never more than 3ft away from a spider. I really find them intriguing when you're not all stuck in your face in the dark...
  15. Allot of our guys hunt with this motto. 300win mag def doesn't lead to much tracking... I've always been a meat hunter and dad always stressed to not shoot through the shoulders as it makes a mess of the meat. I've found I'm more picky now on shots versus the guys who are solely trophy hunting and usually drop them with shoulder shots out of big magnums. Good tracking skill has helped me find deer. It's a skill that sadly I see allot of hunters that have never refined it.
  16. Most people frown on .22 caliber projectiles for deer but a good bonded 62grn out of a 5.56 will kill them just as dead. Shot this doe at 10yards using an AR which I instinctually double tapped her with first going behind the shoulder and second round she jumped and ended up breaking both her front legs... went 30 yards down hill and done.
  17. I'm eating a bowl of cereal right now... I truly enjoy this place and I'm glad there is a place here where we can all agree to disagree. One things for sure I've met some truly great people I now call friends here. In an ugly world of mostly acquaintances that means something to me.
  18. Deer aren't some mythical creature as Seth said. Put one in the vitals and it's up to you to find them. My daughter's first deer she hit perfectly with a 300BO. Still took us over an hour in the rain to find it and it only went 40 yards in the opposite direction we were looking for it. Looked like a bomb went off inside and it was dead on its feet. My buck I shot this year I hit right behind the shoulder and knocked him down hard with the 270. I'm glad he stayed down as there was no blood and no exit hole as the bullet buried into opposite side shoulder... They usually don't go far with the 06 or 270 though. Haven't shot enough of them with the 300BO to say it's better than my 30-30, but it's def in an easier to manage package and can be used to hunt during pistol season. We cheated on a few deer at camp this year shot in the legal evening time right before dark. Thermal is a game changer finding and tracking game after dark.
  19. Man JD that is cringe worthy... I've only buried a barb once and my thumb was so frozen i didn't realize i had ripped it out till I kept seeing blood on the front of my waders. Pulled glove off, dumped out blood, squished meat back into the hole, a little super glue and I was back fishing...
  20. Thanks Pete for the confirmation, and yeah I agree I'd be in a serious pickle doing that at night in the water lol. Makes me shudder thinking about it
  21. Someone here i think maybe JD posted the crick hopper I think with one hook in a finger on the right hand and the other hook in a finger on the left... that one sticks with me... Sorry about the ear, I need to wear eye pro at night... lots of close calls and I've stuck a wooly bugger in the ol bald head once. Thankful barb was pinched. Left a good dent and bruise
  22. My first Taney Brown 2015... we came down from Bennett with my BIL Geno thought we were cool fishing the kiddy pool. Lol Oldest pics on this phone I'll have to find my trout park days pics
  23. Those look like my pets... off to go dig up some old photos. Fantastic thread guys. Love the old pics
  24. Phil you mentioned MDC is going to tweak stocking? Do the guys at the hatchery think there is a problem? Curious their views on how things are going. One things for sure the next shocking results should be pretty eye opening.
  25. I can tell you my last few trips down have been very tough. Night wade fishing produced very few fish where before in similar water conditions this time of year it was hammer time. I am not a huge boat fisherman, but I've gotten to where I can hold my own and the last few trips in a boat were rough too. Something has changed, and I guess I need to adapt tactics or fish more, but for a numbers trip I'm with the others in thinking that the days of 100 plus fish might have passed.
