  1. We had a few hours to kill this afternoon so I took my buddy down and tried to teach him how to fly fish. Kind of the blind leading the blind lol, he got skunked, but I picked up a few on top water. One on a beetle, another on a Hopper down at outlet 1.
  2. That's a beautiful brown! Fishwere fighting good last night, and were reviving ok for us. Keeping them in the water mostly though other than for a quick pic.
  3. So my buddy is down here for the first time ever trout fishing. We started out down between outlet 1 and the cable and it was slow... Went down to rebar and it was slow... Back up past outlet 2 and it was game on. He was landing bow after bow on the stick baits. I started hitting them on an orange SJW, but then after watching him tear it up, I headed to the car to get my stick gear. Catching some nice fiesty ones the biggest right at 16inches We head back down and his bait gets absolutely smoked. First time down here and he lands a nice 21.5 bow. Fish of the night for sure and a beautiful male. Done for the night now, we'll be back at it tomorrow.
  4. First fish is hardly ever a trout... Lol.
  5. Back at my favorite fishery... Wife and some friends of ours made it down for a kid free weekend... Hoping to get as much time fishing in as possible, but still keep the women happy lol. Will likely be fishing nights again, but may swing a day shift on Sunday. I'll drop updates here as we go!
  6. Haha, I'll try to follow that format this weekend
  7. Agreed nice job. Out of the yak too. Very cool
  8. Thanks Phil, Will keep it in mind this weekend as far as fish handling goes. Hope it's not as big a deal as 15 was... Almost didn't want to catch them in fear of killing them.
  9. Wonder if the DO is starting to drop? Thanks for the report SIO3. I'll be down Friday, hopefully we can find some good ones
  10. Costas are nice and super clear, likely your best bet. If not them then take a look at Maui Jims. They have great polarization and optics too. I luckily have a buddy who owns an eye doc business. He was able to cut me some custom polarized lenses in green all the way down to the tint selection and percentages for my Oakleys which are leaps and bounds over the stock Oakley stuff. If you have an eye Doc or need a prescription set they can usually cut for frames. I have been an Oakley fan for decades, but sadly they are not the same company they once were after they were bought out. Good Polarized lenses on the water are a game changer for sure.
  11. Night time smallie and a white that I think was yours. He was a bruiser
  12. We're gonna get that brown John!
  13. I set out yesterday not being in fresh water for close to 3 months now... This summer was just flat out exhausting. Although I generally fish everywhere we go, I miss my trips in the woods and being in the water. My quiet time... I made it out to a small creek by me, and I've fished it before, but you never know what you'll get. I caught a few dinky small mouth, a few large mouth, some blue Gills, sun fish, and a gar. Nothing to write home about, but man it felt good to be back in the water.
  14. Some epic trips for sure!
  15. Man that's a stud eye there... Nice job
  16. Don't underestimate their vision. I've caught plenty on jigs at night. I'd worry more about the fog at night in a boat. Drift boat might be best bet.
  17. Dang Ketchup... Thats awful to hear. Prayers sent as well...
  18. White streamers work good, but honestly this time of year for the past few years my go to has been white or orange San Juan worms at night under a lighted inidicator. Free line them no weight, let them drift and when the indicator stops moving its fish on. In the shallows by rebar with the water off with enough moonlight you'll see the dorsals sticking up out of the water... I sight cast to them until I get a good drift down in front of em. Super fun, and had pretty good catch rates especially the nights the bows were moving up lake. They'd come up in groups and you'd see the fins and tops of them sticking out. Gets the blood pumping! I'm anxious to try my top water adventures again too. Blind casting in the moon light and waiting for the surface interruption to set the hook. Should have some good moon here soon for that time frame. This was one from November last year, right at 4 lbs on my scale. Orange San Juan on the drift. Saw him working his way up as he was pretty tall with some shoulders on him. Dropped the drift about 4 feet in front of him and he nailed it.
  19. I'll be hitting it hard at night weekend after next. Hope I get just a tad more generation at least one night to throw some sticks, if not I'll bust out the lighted indicators and swing some San Juan worms in the flat stuff. I'll throw a report up for sure.
  20. I can not agree more with this statement. PW makes some awesome vids, and I wish I had his dedication. I have soo much gopro footage dumped onto a hard drive, and maybe one day I will finally get around to editing it... Nice vid as usual PW!
  21. That bow sure is colored up nice! Have they started running up lake yet? Last year 1st week of Sept. they were all colored up and saw herds of them running up lake towards the darn. They were all hungry and made for good fishing. 2 more weeks for me until I can get down. I hope the hopper bite keeps up.
  22. My Dad has battled deteriorating eyesight, and when it started he began marking up his sites with some of my old bottles of Testors Enamel paints. I had white, Neon Orange and neon Green. We tried a bunch of combos, but we'd rough up the site a bit with a small file and then apply dashes and later dots to the rears in white and then the front we'd mark up with orange or green. Worked great and held up well. Solvents would eventually dull them, but we'd just grab a toothpick and re-apply.
  23. Dang that doesn't look good...
  24. hahaha. That made me LOL SIO3!
  25. Man awesome multi species day for you guys! Got to get in on this action! Thats a nice Brown John! He was just getting you ready for the 29 incher you are gonna pull out of Taney!
