  1. Any guesses Phil on how long they will do the minimal flow until they fix the dam?
  2. Awesome! Hoping you get into those brownies too!
  3. Yeah buddy, storms rolled in for the afternoon. Pretty mild but brought more dumb rain... Hope you still get some fishing time in buddy.
  4. Nice tanks! Healthy fish for sure. Glad you're home safe and sound like a cool vacation.
  5. Fished the front coming in this morning and caught 26 bass and 4 hybrids in 3 hours... All on the fly rod and all on a @BilletHead clouser in Pat's hot pink flavor! They we're fired up today... Broke off the pink one on a nice bass right on the hookset because I got lazy and forgot to retie after 20 fish or so. Other than that no big ones this time but still stupid fun on the long rod
  6. I know you'll get em at some point. Persistent nature and all buddy! Just bring Liv with ya next time, then you'll at least get a picture of one as she catches one before you do LOL
  7. Travis makes some great points and I too think its a numbers game with the versatility to be able to fish just about any type of water condition with jigs of different weights. It won't stop me from throwing big jerk baits at night, but I will switch over to a jig at night if the jerk bait bite is slow. The jerk baits will produce though as Duane can attest to that as well as myself and others that you may not catch as many, but when you go that game you are hunting for the big fish. My 2nd largest brown from the CAM tournament earlier this year was on a jig, and the 2 biggest walleye we've caught down there one by myself and one by my daughter both came on white jigs...
  8. Agreed, those look fantastic!
  9. Nice job you two! Congrats on the PB walter! I also try to fish while the fronts moving in. Gets them going for sure!
  10. Yeah agree on most not being prepared. Been there before LOL. You can never have enough net Was not aware it was out of the water that long... I mean even if you can stick its head in the livewell, give it a chance, or like you said try to keep it in the water until you can get a boat with a bigger livewell down there. It's fishing though and its gonna happen. Still a fantastic catch by the angler. Just another indicator that at some point I hope we see the world record come out of Taney.
  11. I like the catch and release model. Maybe have a big brown side pot where you need pics and video of it being measured and weighed and then a video of successful release to qualify for it. Cellphone video has come along way...
  12. Shame it didn't make it, but after 45min I'm sure played a big factor in it dying. Its going to happen, and that's the risk, but I'm sure you guys all tried your hardest to save it. I carry a digital scale with a tape measure built in, and a mesh bag for weighing them. Cost me maybe $20 off amazon. Figure an on the spot measurement is as good as I'm going to get versus bringing them in. Especially wade fishing at night, not like we carry around a horse trough and an aerator in our truck LOL. We had a good discussion regarding what to do in that situation of if you caught a potential new state record at night. Do you CPR and weigh it, or wait till morning likely killing the fish in the process. I know my answer... Agree though Phil hope some type of system can be worked out to keep more of these big ones alive. I think you told me anything that size is likely in the top 3-5% in the lake. Special fish for sure.
  13. Did that brownie make it back in the water? Seth you truly are a brown magnet. Just for other people lol.
  14. Great recap Bill! An awesome adventure for sure.
  15. Congrats buddy! Was a fun journey with ya, just wish I could of been there in person. I was shocked too you'd never had gotten one before. Some beautiful trout too. They were all very pretty. A great day on the water for sure.
  16. Was taking to Seth earlier, thanks for posting the pics for us Phil. Hope it can be released safely. Congrats to the angler too. Heck of a catch for sure.
  17. Good luck man! Should be hearing up in October for sure.
  18. Sounds like you guys had a blast! Congrats to the both of you and glad you guys made it home safely! Super jealous... Hoping to do Alaska next year.
  19. I got a great deal on the Simms freestones... They are not the goretex made in MT ones, but so far they are holding up better than my previous 4 or 5 pairs of white river ones... They have a warranty and will be replaced for a small fee when they finally do leak. One day I'll get a wild hair up my butt and drop $700 on a pair of the G4's with the zip up front... Maybe after my 3rd set of braces for the last kiddo lol The free stones aren't bad for what they are... Just not made in the USA.
  20. Did someone say AmberJacks? Hope you get after em Cody. Hardest fighting fish I've come across so far.
  21. Nice buddy! I usually have better luck with a full moon with the jerk baits lol. Highlights them from above I guess. I'm needing a trip down badly...
  22. Very nice! Glad to see ya getting out there!
  23. Sounds like a great trip Ryan. You try the night bite at all? I want to see more of those 20lb brownies! Love watching tanks come up out of the murk and start following the jerks... Saw your buddies hook removal video. At least he was smiling with that hook in his thumb lol. Been there done that!
  24. You been fishing out that way Dutch? I'm heading there next month to fish the Frying Pan and the roaring fork.
  25. Would a supreme or other brand work?
