  1. Grrrr. I'm stuck our I'd be making the drive in the morning... Good luck!
  2. Dang buddy, that's a tough one to handle. Hope you stay stone free for rest of your trip and stay hydrated! Hope you catch a bunch.
  3. Weather looked good, managed to sneak out of work at 330 and my buddy asked me to hit his little honey hole again. Can't say no to that offer. Turned it mostly into fly rod practice for my buddy who's heading to CO with me in September. He has bought 2 fly rods already but hadn't caught a fish on either so we took him along and showed him some top water sunfish action. A good evening of learning and it wasn't long before his casts started getting better and spent quality time mending line and getting fish to hand. Have to get him on some trout for the next steps. I fly fished and also brought a spinning rod. I started out throwing a big single bladed black and yellow spinner bait and my 3rd cast got crushed. Again the bass here are angry and hit with a vengeance. Fishing was a bit slower this time and the big sunfish were not active but we caught a ton of smaller ones. Before we called it a day I threw a weedless rigged worm into the same corner and it got hammered too. One was just over 5lb and the other was 4.88. caught a few smaller bass too on the fly rods stripping a BH clouser again. Those things are like crack to the bass and panfish. I haven't cracked the 6lb mark here but I feel it's just a matter of time. A special little pond it is.
  4. Blue Gill, sunfish, long ears, hybrid, bream, they're all just gills to me lol. I think John did say they were sunfish. All I know is that they are a blast to catch on the long rod. Even more so when they are hitting top water.
  5. I had to do a double take there buddy I thought you were fishing in a kilt lol. Nice bass! I tried not to call the fish blue gills lol
  6. The dreaded Buffalo biting gnats seem to have finally petered out with their quest to eat me... Been hitting the ponds a bit with some moderate success. My buddy has access to a pond up 61 that is just full of massive panfish and some really aggressive angry bass. The bass hit like a freight train and you better be holding on. This little gem never gets fished at all so you can throw whatever and they'll eat it. I also got my buddy on a fly rod for the first time and the pan fish cooperated by just slamming a hopper on just about every cast. I think I made another fly fisherman on that outing lol. They were hitting a stripped @BilletHead clouser hard too! All fishes lived to fight another day. We're heading back up tomorrow evening to break in a few new fly rods lol. Biggest bass was right under 6lbs and biggest pan fish was almost 11 inches and weight 3/4 of a pound on the dot. Buddy had a small Gill hooked on the fly rod and about a 4lb bass tried to eat him. Was a cool thing to see. Good times indeed.
  7. Its been so stupid hot and when its not its raining... I feel the pain there. I've found a new pond that belongs to my buddy's neighbor. Full of 10in pan fish and a bunch of largemouth that are between 4-6 pounds... Been fun, but need a trout fix soon LOL
  8. Glad you two got to sync up! Haven't fished Bennett in a while and I hope to get back down there soon!
  9. I've been pond fishin lately for bass and gills but man I need to catch some slicks soon... Nice haul buddy!
  10. For sure buddy! We need to make that happen. Hopefully before the next festivals of fishing.
  11. Pretty little guy there!
  12. Poor fish look like they are starving! <sarcasm> LOL Def looks like more catching than fishing to me! Nice.
  13. Good to hear from ya buddy. Glad you and your son got out for a great day together.
  14. Thanks for answering! Thats allot of honey!
  15. A question if you dont mind me asking as a total dummy to bee keeping like myself how much honey do you think you'll collect this year? Very impressive operation you got going on there! Enjoy the bee keeping threads allot so thanks for sharing.
  16. Beautiful color on those browns! Thanks for the report Bill.
  17. Haha, man that's a tank bow. Looking good as usual.
  18. Some good looking chunks there! Glad you were able to find them. I lol'd once you explained spaghetti and meatballs. That's hilarious and I've never heard it called that before.
  19. Fishing the other half of a day can be rewarding. I'm slowing down... I'm still chasing them, but the marathons are getting harder to recover from lol. As long as they are biting I'll fish till the sun comes up lol.
  20. You going to try and fish at night Ryan? Good luck out there. I'm camping this weekend or I'd be down there...
  21. Nice brownies! Stick with that jerk early morning! Earlier the better. Have had best bites right at dawn. Hope you get to stick a big one!
  22. I mean keep that swan out of the main boating channel and at least you have better visibility for avoidance if you are running up versus a kayak LOL. That'd be interesting report to file if someone would hit a giant swan though...
  23. Nice job on the catching. Someone in a kayak is going to get killed out there in the fog. I'm not talking about the intelligent folks who are kayak fishing or actually hugging the banks staying out of the main channels, it's the goobers out there in the middle, who are totally clueless, and the ones who will cut right in front of you where you're fishing... My rule #1 applies to these idiots. And now we have jet skis up by the cable lol. Wonder what's next...
  24. Nice catches brother! Glad you and the fam were able to make it out and have a great day in the salt.
  25. Thats pretty wild. Is that the lowest you've ever seen it @Phil Lilley? Not good for the bug population at all I bet... Seems its from one extreme to the other.
