We fished numerous cuts from cow creek, spring branch and other coves today. We started at Indian Point and went towards Kimberling City. Using info gained from Champ188 yesterday, we caught them on top water then transitioned to bluff ends and gravel roll offs. We caught seven keepers from 2.3 to 3.4 lbs. The biggest was a smallmouth. We also caught about 8-10 shorts, one just the size of my Sammy during the top water action. My son (Kip) was quick to snap a picture if it. He will help me post the pictures of those caught today. Around 10ish the action slowed. We took another tip learned from Champ, move a little deeper where your catching them. We did after giving the area a 45 min rest and started catching them again, what a blast. Early they came fron 5-10 foot on transition banks from football size to gravel. As mentioned above we later moved to boat in 25 ft and were fishing 12-16 ft.
Top water was a Sammy and PopR, then one keeper on a swim bait. Others came on the Ned and a Biffle head with either a UV green pumpkin craw or/and big bite green red flake craw. Shorts were a whacky rigged senko and Ned.
Its been a great week, unfortunately we are headed back to the flat land in the morning. Again, thanks to all who post on this site. Champ, we followed your advice and it was absolutely spot on. Hope to be back in a few weeks, all take care and good fishing! Chris and Chris.....
