Bobby, you did the right thing. I met ketchup for the first time in the OAF tourney in March as we were coming to a point from different directions. We both gave way, introduced ourselves, talked for a bit and then continued on. Same thing happened the first time I met Quillback on the water. Unfortunately not every person you meet on the water is considerate. I am gonna keep doing what I am doing and not let others ruin my day. My time on this earth is too precious. IMO

I just looked up the definition of insanity in Websters dictionary and it had two items First it said: insanity is keep doing the same thing and expect different results. The second thing was this video!!! You just can't fix stupid.
Mike
Good luck to all today. I look forward to reading the reports. I am going to give way to all the derby boats today and fish Sunday evening. I hope they leave me some bites.
Mike
Great advice about checking the line. I use fluoro on the 6# & 8# and I am forever feeling for nicks in the line. If I am unsure if the nick will snap, I merely hold the lure in one hand and hold the line above the nick in the other and give it a quick, hard snap to simulate setting the hook. If it breaks, I am ahead of the game. Takes very little time to do this but it sure ruins my day if a fish breaks me off.
Mike
Steve, glad you are ok as it could have been much worse. I heard from others that the storm really blew in for a while. I worry about that a lot. I recently had Ulrich install an automatic bilge in case I can't get to the boat during a storm. I hope I never need it though. By the way, the part of your story about the spinner bait bite was interesting. Thank you for sharing.
Mike
Tyy, I'm not a kayak fisherman but I always give them a wide berth when I see them out. Good luck to you. By the way below is the information on the MSHP's website regarding the regatta permit for the tourney. Hopefully it is a misprint.

F4F, thanks for the information. By the way, are you fishing the Kayak Bass Series Open Tourney May 28th? The weigh in is at Indian Point Campground. They expect about 150 Kayaks.
Mike
NItro, sounds like a good time on the water despite the number of boats. Thanks for the comments on this thread, you folks have made my Monday a little brighter because of your quick wit. Witness protection, ned, ned, ned, ned, fish doctor, Tim the tool man's neighbor, HA.

Steve, I'll be the first to chime in and it is just my opinion. I am a CPR guy so when I Catch a fish that is worthy, I take a Photo immediately and Release it on the same side of the boat I caught if from. I have no scientific proof whether bed fishing is good or bad. I'm a common sense kind of person. If someone catches a fish on a bed and releases it in a different location I think that interferes with that fish's spawn for that year. I don't know if it hurts the overall bass population but in my opinion it does not help it. Again this is just my opinion and since I am retiring to TR next year, I want the fish population as good as possible.
Mike
Fozzype, like everyone said, we all have those days. Babler says that at any given time someone on TR is catching fish, but not everyone. The advice given here is right on point. I've seen some of the sponsored bass pros have similar runs of bad fishing days so having a few bad tourneys may be more the norm than the exception. Just don't lose confidence.

I can't speak for Sunday, but Saturday I was around Point 5 and there were boats everywhere. I was able to catch 3 keepers (2 on a jig near wood and 1 on a Ned on a pea gravel bank) all in a few hours. I got off the water right after noon and timing was good. When I pulled up to the courtesy dock at Moonshine ramp there had to be 100 college kids on the parking lot with coolers waiting for a bunch of boats to arrive so they could spend the day on the water. I thought I was at LOZ.
Mike
Bo, a 6 lb average!!! Very well done sir. The stars were aligned in your favor and the full moon did not hurt either. Very healthy looking fish. Congratulations.
