  1. I'm going on Monday to the Chateau to listen to their propaganda. Hopefully it will be an opportunity to provide an opinion. Mike
  2. Phil, fishing plus a comedy routine. Not a bad morning. Mike
  3. Quill, I went out Tuesday using the drop shot. Lockjaw was the order of the morning. When I loaded the boat on the trailer, Eric Prey was on the parking lot making his YouTube video for the week. It was interesting to hear him say how the fishing has gotten tougher in the past week. I was gonna try taneycomo for bass the last couple of days but whew the heat is just too much. So I sat in the pool each day for a few hours. Congratulations to everyone who is catching fish. I tip my OAF hat to you. Mike
  4. RB, nice day for sure. Gotta love that topwater bite. Thanks for the information Mike
  5. Corey, nice mess of fish. Welcome to your first post on the forum. Mike
  6. I was able to fish for a couple of hours in the morning. Put in at Moonshine about 6:15am. Went towards Indian Point but decided to fish the east end of the bluff and then go into the first cove. Caught a few dinks on a gp Ned. Had a palm size sunfish on a sq bill. Shad are all over. Saw a lot of fish in the 15-25 ' range. Couldn't get them to bite. I was too lazy to tie on a drop shot. I think I will go again Tuesday morning but I will have a drop shot tied on. I headed back to the ramp at 9 dodging tubers all the way. It was fun getting out though. Mike
  7. Sweet!!! Mike
  8. Kee, sweet fish. I'm wondering why you had the crank bait tied on? Congratulations Mike
  9. rps, nice comeback on the walleye. Mike
  10. Champ, I agree especially if one doesn't have a lakefront home. Mike
  11. edyer, we hope you live that long also so you can enjoy your Ranger. BUT, just in case, you might want to create the "for sale" ad with instructions to post the ad on the forum so your family doesn't have to worry about that too. lol Mike
  12. Ditto ++ what Champ said. Reports about success are as good as reports that reflect a tough outing. That is how we all get better. Mike
  13. Makes me want to put another coat of wax on my '87 Cajun to let her know I'm happy with her. Mike
  14. Bferg, congratulations on having the guts to try new tactics. Increases your options. Mike
  15. I saw in the Branson paper that the COE has their dock plan out for review. They are going to hold open discussions to explain their proposal. So check their web site often to see the dates. Mike
  16. Royal Blue, my question is what do you want to use it for? I started buying specific gear for certain types of fishing. Once you decide what you want it for (jigs, topwater, jerk bait, Ned rig, etc) then you can zero in on what's best for that application. I have a couple of gloomis rods that I really like. (1-jig & 1-jerk bait) but I have a couple of duckett micro guide ones for crank baits. And I love my st croix spinning rod for my Ned rig. Again I would suggest you decide what you will use it for and the you will make the right choice. Good luck. And kiss your wife for such a lovely gift. But remember to do something better for her birthday (>$300) Mike
  17. QB, thanks for the information. Some of the hardest decisions are to leave while the fish are biting. Sounds like you made the right choice. Great pictures too!!! Mike
  18. Split, thanks for the information. Now if I can only remember where I saw that big boat and that bridge in your pictures, I would have an idea where your secret spots are. Good looking smallies. Mike
  19. BE, thanks for the information. Jigs on bluffs, gotta love it. Mike
  20. Sprint, thanks for the report. Keep listening to your son and someday you'll catch bigger fish too. lol Mike
  21. Kid, welcome to the forum. Sounds like you found a good location holding fish. I look forward to seeing many more posts from you. Mike
  22. Sent you a PM Mike
  23. fowlthing, I never use a leader. I only use braid for topwater cause it floats. On all other reels I use fluorocarbon cause it sinks. I also only use a palomar knot. That set up works well for me. But I agree with others that it is a matter of preference. Also as I replace rods I continue to upgrade to those that provide me a better feel so I can detect the slightest tick of the line. My hope is that it helps me become a better fisherman. Or I could have just got a jersey and looked really cool. lol Mike
  24. Well I've been off the water for a month due to personal business getting a house in STL ready for sale. But I finally had an opportunity to take my brother in law out for a couple of hours Tuesday. We put in at Moonshine at 6am and fished for a couple hours. Hit two points that normally hold fish and we weren't disappointed. Using the information from all of you regarding the jig bite, we caught 15 with a nice keeper SM on jigs in the flooded bushes on either side of the points. He was happy catching fish and I was happy being on the water. Thanks to all who have been posting reports. They are spot on. Mike
  25. Great video. Thanks bo. New lure idea? Mike
