  1. One river "real" river walleye, preferably, in SE Mo. I used to backpack in and around the Johnson shut-ins area, in my youth. There is some kind of romance in those trees rocks and water for me. I am still hoping for that 10# or 30"walleye from a SW Missouri Lake, hopefully Stockton but I wouldn't cry if it came from Tablerock. I would love to do all this with my wife, but I realize these are my goals.....that don't make sense. A word to the wise: The journey is the best part, the sense of accomplishment is fleeting. Memories are good, but active participation is better. I about drove myself crazy looking for a walleye from Stockton each month. The constraints of work, weather, time, money, some days I wanted to quit this foolishness, but once I got some water under the boat, it seemed to be ok. I guess I taught myself to work toward a goal, and enjoy the moment that I am living in. Now if I can just make some money doing what I love, win win.
  2. and a fluorocarbon leader Double uni to join them.
  3. It is a sacrifice, but that is marriage. You have to fake it. Say "wow, nice, I love this" stuff like that. Then when you get home fish until you can't walk.
  4. Wow nice....hat !
  5. When it comes in I will take a picture of it after mounting. I currently have the hdi ducer on the rear. it does sonar and down scan
  6. Wow nice ! I was going to go today, but the beans are down, brush needs to be burnt, the wife needs her back shaved again. Stuff like that.
  7. Thank you I found this badge in the picture. I think this is the lss2 type transducer with di built in? If this is like or same as lss2 I will be very happy ! Now I will be waiting for a cheap hds 10 or 12 someday.
  8. No the other way around. I had the elite 7 first so I used it on the console. Then I bought a used hds 8 without a transducer, I put it up front, it uses the 2d transducer built into my xi5. I plan on swapping them. The structure scan stuff doesn't say lss2 just HD, I don't know. Either way it's a step up for me and the price was right
  9. I am so envious ! Isn't this forum great ! I have learned a lot here.
  10. I own a Lowrance hds 8 "non touch" that I am using in 2d sonar mode only. I just purchased an hd structure scan bundle with trans' never installed still in the box. (The box says HD, I am guessing it is between the lss1 and lss2??) I also have an hdi transducer that I am using on my elite 7 hdi My question: Do I still need to use the hdi ducer for di ? What if any software updates do I need? Will the addition of SI be super cool, or will I be disappointed? I know this is old tech, but it is new to me. I might buy the panoptix stuff in 10 or 15yrs when it's cheaper so don't for get about me Thanks
  11. I would have just left it in there.
  12. I would like to trap about 10, 5" chub or stone rollers right now😁
  13. Very nice ! Thank you for the report !
  14. Just found this picture of grandpa.
  15. For the 1st time in 20yrs we were out of Rottweilers, I guess my wife could not handle it, so....meet "Murk", he is 8 weeks and 20lbs. He already has a grumpy side, which I like. As it turns out his grandparents are our old dogs, it's kind of neat.
  16. How did you do ? It was a nice day.
  17. I don't hear anything, we wait for your report😁
  18. I just drop stuff all the time, for no reason??
  19. Interesting ! I will try it for sure. Question: why are they shallow? Is it a little warmer some days, maybe on over cast days? A couple weeks ago I never caught a fish until I found a brush pile at 36', I pecked around on a few that were in the 20's then I thought, what heck I will move deeper, and there they were. It was a bright day, no wind water temp 49. Thanks. This is going to be an interesting thread.
  20. I am very new at this winter crappie stuff, this has worked well for me.... Drive around find some brush at several depths, 25, 35, 45. I like tall piles 4 to 8 ft or tall. Then use a drop shot and minnow, nose hook it, hover over the brush pile, drop that rig right down in the brush, then slowly lift it out, stop and hold every so often. The key is being able to stay vertical It is slow work but fun. You can use this rig for all kinds of habitat.
  21. I found baby walleye, and a nursery for of small mouth. Not good, your not alone, really neat evening to be on the water. There was a cool change in air pressure in the evening, I thought for sure the fish would bite, nope. I probably should have thrown a jerk bait all day.
  22. I saw this too, crazy ! I tried the gps/ fly blind thing once, almost died, never again ! I guess the good Lord still has something for me to do ?
