Just trying to help a brother out. If he’s new he might be using too heavy of line. 3 pound is a good tweener so you don’t need two setups. Sometimes you can get away with 4 pound other times you just won’t get bit until you go to 2. Sooooo. 3 pound. Proof with photos.

Park at the hatchery and walk up towards the dam. There’s a sidewalk at the end of the parking lot. The cable across the river is the upper limit to fish. Plenty of space to fish.
I use a clip and switch out colors until I find one they want. Craw, reds, yellows, brown, shad. I won't give up on the crank bite until I've tried 3-4 colors. When they get on it it's a lot of fun.
My brother in law has a place in Colorado. The neighbors trapped one in a cage and just the video of it growling, hissing and snarling raised the hair on my neck. It was huge relative to what I expected. Seems these people’s mistake was not using the 3-S rule.
