  1. It's pretty sweet. Easy to cast. I got some wax for the line that really helped it float. I've tied a few Tenkara flies, but I basically use it as a fly rod using standard flies. I hope your like it!
  2. That's crazy. I co-worker just showed me that. This is starting to get interesting.
  3. I don't think I've ever seen a sunfish that thick. Impressive!
  4. Of course some positions provide more value, create more revenue, etc. But the problem is systemic and always has been, which is why minimum wage was created in the first place. Left unregulated, businesses take advantage of their workers. Business collude and pay "market wage"--the line Mercy always gave for paying nurses less in Springfield than in StL for the exact same position--when it's they who set the market. I can find economists who will argue that the rising tide of wage increases floats all boats. You'll counter with economists who say the opposite. You started this conversation by stating the false equivalency that poor service has been caused by the welfare state. Your Popeyes in the StL metro closed at 6. My Popeye's in the Springfield metro requires exact change or card every time I go. Maybe this isn't a government issue but a Popeye's issue?
  5. So if everyone somehow took "personal responsibility", there would be no problems with income inequity? How do you then explain the cashier who has worked for 20 years a the regional grocery store chain whose wages have not kept pace with rising costs for housing, utilities, healthcare, food, and other standard cost of living indices? You've started your own business and set your own rates. That's awesome and the America Dream. Some people work for the man and it doesn't matter what they do, a 1-3% merit increase at Price Cutter's and Schnuck's of the world just doesn't get it done. No amount of boot-strap pulling changes that.
  6. That's a big problem in the Springfield metro. Apartments are 6-800. single family homes/duplexes to rent are 8-1200. Springfield's wages, even in professional jobs, have always lagged behind the KC and StL metros even though cost of living is a wash.
  7. This helps break the myth that all FF workers are kids. They aren't. Is it meant to be a career? Maybe not. Not everyone has the skill set or the mental acuity for what we think of as careers. But they should be able to live a decent life too. If we don't pay them well and offer benefits, they end up on Federal/State assistance anyway. I don't see any FF corps suffering huge losses right now.
  8. Do you expect anything different?
  9. I don't know, but her lack of known whereabouts spells death to me. I mean, she was in a cage then she "left" in the middle of the night. My guess is that yes, she did leave, but she left dead.
  10. Right. We know what a joke that is. Failure to signal on a lane change, tail light out, smell of marijuana emanating from a vehicle, etc. But I'm still betting sex slave turned dead woman and those 2 are responsible.
  11. That's what the accused are saying. She was there willingly and they were help her out. I wondered if the FBI tip came from someone seeing something online. There's a lot weirder message out there than OA.
  12. I have this one. I like it. Caught fish at RR and Crane with it. https://www.amazon.com/Seaquest-Tenkara-12ft-kit-Fishing/dp/B087LY81S3/ref=sr_1_11?dchild=1&keywords=tenkara+rod&qid=1632431037&sr=8-11
  13. Let us know so we can come look through your stuff.
  14. Beautiful.
  15. It happens every couple years around the Springfield area, always for the same reasons. Those small towns pay so poorly that they are either stepping stones to larger departments or people leave to make more in another field. The article implies it has to do with protests and defunding, but if you read the local stories about it, it's mostly just about pay and poor working conditions. https://www.ky3.com/2021/09/08/kimberling-city-police-department-chief-all-his-officers-announce-resignations/
  16. I feel like MDC does something with that. Email Greg Collier Greg.Collier@mdc.mo.gov. He's an outdoor kills specialist and does archery training and hunter safety among other things.
  17. Impressive!
  18. You're absolutely right. Good journalism would get the perspective of the boaters on the boat, analysis from Water Patrol, and witnesses from the shore. Then they'll follow up on the next day or later in the week. But, TV especially, only gets 1 perspective. Watch local TV news in any market across the country and almost every story will be a 1 source story, which is lazy and not what they were taught in J school. Print journalism does a much better job because they aren't limited by the time constraints of a 23 minute newscast.
  19. Agree so much. TV has very little journalism anymore. It's mostly commentary and pundits. It started just with the evening, prime-time talent, but it's all day now. The sad thing is that most people don't know the difference between the two, so actual journalism gets lumped into commentary and vice versa.
  20. Then they'll make you sign for a $6 order, so add another couple of days.
  21. I hate getting things via FedEx. I'd take USPS or UPS 8 days a week.
  22. I find myself doing to "click and pull" or ship to store at BP but their often out of things, even online. I've been getting stuff from Discount Tackle. The run sales a lot and I can get the sizes and colors on the Zman Ned heads and baits. It's the only place that I can find Zman finesse worms.
  23. @WWM where can we watch it? Apparently I don't get FSN2 on my package.
  24. What is early in the world of a guide? So, water off: worm/float; water on: worm/drift rig? You're detailed reports are priceless.
  25. Wow! Can I ask what kind of bait you were using?
