    Lucky Ned

It's about the bites. No bites no fish, no fish, no chance for big fish. No bites, boredom. No bites, move.

    9/6 Upper End

Yes. As far down as Stubblefield branch. The water temp was 80 to 83 and the air temp was 74.

    What he said ^^^.
  4. My mother taught me if I could not say something nice, I should say nothing. I went out early. Lots of other people did as well. I came in.

  6. I have a friend named Mike. Mike Morris. He and I played rugby together in Tulsa. After I could no longer play, I tried, God help me, to coach him. Later we both coached high school teams we started in Tulsa. I have a number of stories to tell about Mike, but I will not bore you now. Let us just say Mike has an interesting and checkered past, and I m lucky to have been with him through some of it. Now days, Mike is the heart and soul of longwalkmike and mylongwalk.org. He is a cancer and an addiction survivor that focuses on helping young people find strength and skills. I trust him and I vouch for him. On October 7th he will start a walk at Woolum, Ark. across Arkansas and he would like to have 9th grade and older students and parents join him for 1 to 15 days in a self esteem and skills building trek across Arkansas. I have volunteered to meet them with provisions (by car) and add moral support. He has offered an exceptionally low participation rate to those I recruit. (I receive nothing from this!) If you are interested or know some one that might be, please send me a message.

Now that is a plan of action anyone would be proud to follow!

    What's Cooking?

Bravo! Bravo! Author! Good stuff. Great stuff. I've been dealing with appliance issues. Maybe soon I can post results again. Until then, you are out-shining us all.
  9. It would be so much easier if they used English.
  10. Walk and spit is the key to the Top Dollar.
  11. Value does not matter. That stuff is beyond price because it is ... beyond price
  12. Some days are like that. For me, I shake my head and go to the house. Can't imagine what I would say to a client.
  13. billfo posted it, I think, but it seems to be gone
  14. OK. So my answer depends on knowing some background. I typically carry a topwater rod, a crank bait rod suitable for flicker shads through rock crawlers, a jig and spoon jig rod, and a Ned rod. Oh, and of course my two walleye troll and worm harness rods. I rarely fish anywhere other than the Rock. With that in mind, I choose line for multiple applications on a day in and day out basis. That means I put 6# line on the Ned rod. I put 8# on the crank bait rod. I run 10/2 metered braid on the walleye rods. I put 10# line on the top water, and I use 12# on the jig and jig spoon rod. If I try to drop shot, I use the crank bait rod. If I throw a large wake bait or swim bait, I use the jig rod. If I want to drag a C-rig, the rod I use depends on the weight. Except for the walleye rods, I have found YoZuri clear or lo-vis green holds my knots well, stands up to abrasion, and has an acceptable diameter. I cannot say the same of any fluorocarbon or of any straight mono. The bonus is the unexpectedly low cost. I suggest anyone who is serious about line versus line comparisons should go to tackletour's web site and read their articles on line and on knot strength. I promise those articles will explode the commonly held beliefs.

    What's Cooking?

Not nearly as good as Gavin's fishing porn, but tonight I prepared the belated anniversary dinner. Crab cakes with saffron aioli and a spinach mushroom terrine. I have a free form peach tart ready to go for dessert.
  16. I used to fish the Cookson Bend area. You will find the lake to be a small and older version of TR. What you do on TR should work there, although I do not know its current thermocline depth and that will affect everything.
  17. Thank you for the project! From the view point of a bass and walleye fisherman, please locate your tree piles as close to the edge of the channels as you can. Brush piles in 15 feet of water are not much use except in the spring. Trees in 35 feet of water right on the channel edge will hold fish suspended above them like you would not believe. My 2 cents.
  18. I have seen Tanderson15's stuff. It is immaculate. Imagine the guy that rubs every thing down with lamb's wool when he gets home. The stuff he sells is the stuff you want to own.
  19. If you can, download Google's Picassa and use it to edit and clean up photos. I have had no problems with it, and the export feature can size photos for any message board.

Mitch - looks like great chicken! They will probably talk about it on the way home. Nancy and I had a salad with cold chicken and a home made blue cheese dressing. I would have liked to add my salad to your chicken for a great sit down. Tuna
  21. What a great evening!
  22. If you only have the main motor, drive in reverse to slow down.. They call it back trolling. I use my electirc for bottom bouncing.
  23. I know your pain. This late in the year, the larger fish will reaction bite on trolled baits. I have better luck on bottom bouncer fish earlier in the year. Of course I am always open to learning something new.
  24. This is just wrong.
