  1. We have a patio garden. We have had cherry tomatoes from our one plant for over three weeks. The Romas are begging to turn red. The bush steak has given us four, but we must harvest before ripe to save them from the birds. The heat here has been tough on the plants, especially since they are in pots.

    What's Cooking?

Last night's lambsicles. Sous Vide at 130 and quick sear.
  3. Any of the walleye on the drop shot? I know they like Neds but never tried a drop shot on them.
  4. Once upon a time, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri had many miles of rivers and streams full of smallmouth bass, walleye, sauger, and other clear water species. Steam boats plied the waters in the wet season. Then someone decided the farmers and settlers needed fewer floods and cheap electric lights. Dams went up. To salvage the ruination of the rivers they stocked trout. To hide the decline of smallmouth, they planted largemouth to boost the natural population. They took northern lake walleye and stocked enough to hide the river strain genetics forever. Are we not a bit late to worry about "natural" genetics?

    What's Cooking?

I, too, have no celery salt. Nor do I worry about if I have the politically correct bread. The point is the flavors, the textures, and the appearance. You done good.

    What's Cooking?

    No apology needed. Looks great!
  7. Trout+, with a rare walleye this time of year. 3" jerk baits, barbs compressed, and in line spinners, also barb compressed. Live and processed bait. Check out Busch Mountain Fishing Guide Service for your first day.
  8. My philosophy: Unless you are a guide, why but a boat longer than 17 - 18 feet? Buy two stroke engines. Service annually unless it is an ETEC, then every other year. Lead acid batteries annually, unless you can afford lithium. Rarely run at WOT, but do so for 2 or 3 minutes maybe once a month. If you aren't using it more than 50 times a year, sell it.
  9. I don't know where James was fishing. However I do know a few places that his description will fit. The one knocker is a superior bait, almost as good a a Hughes painted Top Dollar. 😉
  10. QB does not skimp on gear.

    Get ready.

If they are all tied together, at least they won't be running up and down the lake annoying everyone. Do you think we could hire someone to create a water spout?

    Garden 2022

Harvesting eggplant, tomatoes, and cucumbers now. Eggplant and tomatoes:
  15. Update: Went down to the large pond in the community where I live in early June. I practiced casting (flailing) and retrieves. The pond has catfish and carp. I did not expect bites. I enjoyed myself. I then drove over to the Illinois river. Just to check things out. Most of that river is a kayak and get out situation. In the second week of June my back decided to hate me. After two weeks and a full course of steroids, I am beginning to feel mobile again. Next week I will venture out.

    What's Cooking?

    Steak salad.
  17. Time for the white War Eagle spoon under docks over deep water and on outside bend channel edges and points parallel to the channel.
  18. Hey, guys. The House did not move for this. 50 some odd Republicans filed a bill. They want to be able to tell their voters they tried to stop the evil taxes on their guns. Phil, I respectfully suggest you cut this one off now.
  19. Beautiful boat. Someone will be lucky to have it, and I am sad you must sell it.
  20. The demand exists in the right locations. This would be spec as to location and market survival. Note, the person that buys after the bubble burst will have a better bet.

    What's Cooking?

While I was in London, the UK was still in the EU. The open air market at Borough station had items from across the channel like the mushrooms, and incredible ducks. I don't know that I could afford it anymore, but I really wish we could transport the French markets to here. https://theculturetrip.com/europe/france/articles/must-visit-food-markets-in-france/
