  1. Didn't realize you previously had a Skeeter. I guess that's something all owners learn quickly....the hard way 😉
  2. Awesome boat. Looks like the same transom design I had on my '98 50th Anniversary ZX 21'. If you haven't noticed already, when you shut her down and she drops off plane suddenly, watch for the backwash rolling over the transom.
  3. As of this A.M. ….nothing. Cold front is still moving slow or barely moving at all. This weekend they are forecasting the remnants of the Pacific Hurricane to hit late Saturday night with some hefty rain totals....that is if it follows the predicted path.
  4. If they're in TR, I wish they'd eat all the dratted Rock Snot we deal with every Spring. Maybe that's not on their menu ?
  5. LMAO ! That sounds like my motto. I always say, after frequently getting skunked, that's why they call it "fishing" !
  6. With a detached retina, yeah, definitely let your eye heal. Your boat will be there when you can get to it after you heal-up. I can definitely sympathize because I'm trying to heal after Advanced Surface Ablation on my eye in an attempt to rectify some less-than-great Cataract surgery on my eye that will hopefully restore my vision acuity. I sure hope your recovery isn't as painful as what I'm trying to deal with but time and following the Doc's orders is the best thing for both of us. Good luck !
  7. IMHO, it sounds like, thankfully and finally, they are realizing there are more "viewers" on TV that the sponsors can reach with their ads than there are locals who show up at the dog & pony show weigh-ins. This will most certainly have a positive effect on the Bass population for the rest of us. Hope it spreads to the other "Jerk & Transport" tournament operations.
  8. Just saw a "Carver Cruiser group" looking for members on the Facebook group page "Table Rock Lake Group". I'd like to tell them what they can do with their "battleship in a Bathtub" Carver Cruisers that the inconsiderate clowns create those boat-swamping wakes with.
  9. As I discovered, the hard way, with a Skeeter's "back-end" design (and others like it) taking those wakes "back-end first" was the worst thing I could have done but mine wasn't intentional but accidental as I didn't see the wake coming from clear across the Lake. My switched port and starboard bilge pumps that I flipped on plus the auto-pump ran for maybe three minutes and I had to trailer the boat on a steep ramp and pull the plug to get rid of everything.
  10. Having recorded over 7" of rain on my weather station during August at Mid-lake I'd guess our extremely dry soil has been replenished. This morning's NWS Hurricane Center storm track prediction has swung the center of the remnants of Gordon directly over Joplin in the Fri-Sat time period and it's forecast to interact with a Front. So the Lake is looking like it will be on the "right hand" side, maybe, of the circulation which they say is where all the heavier rain occurs.
  11. I've had Precision Sonar's "Cable Guard" brackets for a year and a half and they do enable mounting and using your sidefinder/sidescan's transducer. Mounted on an Ulterra, which I don't like at all and wish I had bought the Ultrex, they do keep the cable managed but have to be turned to the up-side of the trolling motor shaft to clear the deck and mounting bracket when the motor is retracted. That makes the transducer cable more exposed to snagging on any brush or stick-ups when the motor is deployed so you gotta' be aware of that. Why in the world Johnson Outdoors, which owns both MinnKota and Humminbird, would manufacture a trolling motor like the Ulterra and not provide a slot for the more advanced transducer than what they build into the Ulterra's head is a real good question.
  12. Gavin: You are right about Bull Sharks. Try telling folks about the documented catch in the 1930's of a Bull Shark in the Mississippi all the way up just above the confluence with the Missouri and they don't believe. A local Resort owner who ran a large Welding Shop in New Orleans that was high enough to stay dry during the Katrina flooding said those things were in the flooded streets of New Orleans. Don't know whether to believe that or not but he also said they are known to be in Lake Pontchartrain.
  13. Those "cattle rotting in the tree-tops" were bad enough but so were all the numerous caskets that bobbed to the surface and washed downstream where the Missouri had inundated River bottom cemeteries. The Media reported it but, out of respect for the dead, did not publish too many pictures.
  14. There are ways to stop them. One is to build and use a "fish box" if you keep what you catch. Nothing new, guys at our local Marina have had them for decades to keep their caught fish deep in cooler water and keep the turtles away. Otter re-introduction by MDC was maybe the biggest screw-up they ever made.
  15. LMAO ! Wait a minute...thought this was Shark Week ? 😉 But on a serious issue: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2018/07/25/girl-catches-piranha-like-fish-oklahoma-lake/839107002/ Some idiot has released Pacu that are related to Pirhana. Hope it was just the one.....
  16. Hoping everyone reading this has checked their steering connections by now or before they get in their boat again and looked to see if the nut on the connector bolt has those "bend-over" tabs properly installed that Wrench told us about and that the bolt used is the correct one with a shoulder on it.
  17. That brings up the question ( the bolt that goes through the motor lost its nut ) as to why the manufacturers of Sea Star steering systems aren't using Castellated ( or Castle) nuts and bolts with cotter pins securing them so this scenario cannot happen. Wrench ? Do they or are they just Nyloc ?
  18. I was wondering about the Hydrogen Peroxide too. BTW.... Thanks for the tip too on the Hot Water heater. My Wife has always used it for cleaning wounds but now there have been a lot of Medical Professionals warning that is a no-no https://advancedtissue.com/2014/07/debunking-myths-wound-care/ and that it actually prevents healing in some way. Sounds like when it's added to water it releases the extra Oxygen molecule in the H2O2 like it does when it creates those little bubbles on a wound.
  19. SOS again ? How's that ? Great information and advice. Thanks to mixermarkb for sharing with the membership.
  20. So a neighbor who owns his own Dock told me that a couple of years ago the ACOE mandated no electrically powered water pumps on docks due to risk of electrocution. Now, another neighbor tells me the local Marina owner says the ACOE has mandated removal of ALL Fish Cleaning stations from docks and discarding fish remains into the Lake after cleaning them is no longer allowed. Anyone else aware of this? The local Turtles and Crawdads are pissed !
  21. Uh-oh, that doesn't sound good 😉 The LOZ MSWP used to have decibel meters on their boats too and used them and that's getting to be needed on TR but, heck, we seldom see a Water Cop...unless you pass by the location of a water-accessible bar after dark.
  22. Hiring a Lawyer is usually the smart thing, in the long run, to do because the fines and Court Costs for any moving violation goes on your record ( yessir, even on the water ) that the thieving Insurance Companies get hold of and that fine and Kangaroo Court Cost will seem small after they use the excuse to jack-up your Premiums for the next three to five years. Had never heard your information before about no jurisdiction on the night speed limit thing, thanks for mentioning that.
  23. I'm sure you know that there is a 30 MPH speed limit after Sunset on Missouri waters. Rumors have it that the largely invisible Water Division of the MSHP has been enforcing that recently on TR. I guess someone loaned them a Radar Gun ? 30 MPH sure beats Indiana's law which allows only Idle Speed after dark and they enforce it but don't have the number of acres of water that Missouri does.
  24. If you care to, there is space at the bottom of the article in the link for some appropriate comments about that extreme weigh-in distance or whatever.
  25. I used to favor one Party over the other but came to the conclusion several years ago they are ALL interested in one thing and one thing only and that is to fill their wallets. That and to get re-elected so they can feed at the Public Trough and collect their Pensions. At least we have Term Limits in MO but why do we have Pensions for Elected Officials ? And please don't get me started on those thieves at the Federal level.
