  1. Great pic J-Doc. I like the new format. Works great on my iPhone too.
  2. EXACTLY!! They can move.
  3. This. They aren't real picky.
  4. I haven't hunted doves, or anything for that matter, since high school. I've been thinking about a good dove hunt and wondered about Bois D Arc. It used to have a pretty good population of birds around. I guess that has changed?
  5. Okay I'm back. Something on top. They aren't real picky though. Get it up next to some wood and hang on. I use a gurgler most of the time because they are quick and easy to tie and I'm not great at getting it up next to some wood without some casualties. Add in some streamers and some heavily weighted bottom hugging stuff and you should be good. I could do it with 3 flies and have a blast.
  6. Ohhhh...Lancer said wiggle minnows.....excuse me for a second.
  7. I agree. I don't like the whole idea of killing a fish to get your name in the record books. That just makes no sense to me.
  8. RR seems less confined to me than BS.
  9. Why is Lake Springfield boat ramp closed now? Wes Johnson, News-Leader 6:48 p.m. CDT July 31, 2015 The record James River flood on June 19 was so powerful it ripped away the concrete boat ramp at the popular Lake Springfield Southwood Access and pushed it 9 feet downstream. The damage was so severe that the Missouri Department of Conservation was forced to break the boat ramp apart and close it to trailered boats, possibly for nearly two years. “That record flood scoured out the boat ramp and lifted the whole slab,” said Andy Austin, MDC’s Southwest Regional fisheries supervisor. “It was jumbled and unusable and had to be broken up and hauled off.” Record flooding on June 19 rips across the Southwood Access boat ramp. (Photo: News-Leader file photo) He said the Southwood Access restrooms and parking area survived the flood, which pushed the James River to 22.2 feet above flood stage, breaking the previous record set in 1909. Austin said people can still launch canoes, kayaks and small hand-carried boats from Southwood Access, but boats that need to be launched from trailers won’t be able to use the site. The flood closed the popular Southwood Access boat ramp far sooner than anyone planned. The Missouri Department of Transportation has an 18-month bridge replacement and reconstruction project slated to begin next spring where U.S. 65 crosses the James River. The bridges are adjacent to the ramp, and the partners who maintain Southwood (MDC, Springfield-Greene County Parks, City of Springfield) agreed to close the entire Southwood Access area during that period so construction crews can use the area to stage equipment and supplies. Austin said the three Southwood partners met to see if a temporary boat ramp could be built somewhere else on Lake Springfield to give trailered boats access to the lake. They considered an abandoned boat ramp site east of the Lake Springfield Boathouse but concluded it would be prone to continuous scouring from the James River current and would require continuous maintenance. “Also, there’s no such thing as an interim boat ramp — once it’s in, people will perceive it as always a ramp,” Austin said. “There would also be the constant cost to maintain it. Overriding all of that is that it’s just not a good location for a boat ramp.” The flood-related closure of the Southwood Access ramp, and long-term closure while the two bridges over the James River are built, mean trailered boats won’t be able to put in at Lake Springfield for close to two years. “After the Highway 65 project is completed, we’ll bid the boat ramp project and put a new one in place,” Austin said.
  10. Ok this one just snuck up on me and made the list. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CA9S6NgzNYE
  11. not as much as those shorts are.
  12. So I guess the question is can these guys tell the difference in a shad and a bass?
  13. That is awesome. I gotta show this to my girls. We have a wiener dog that is 14 years old.
  14. Exactly. And that is not to make it easier to use the lake for recreation. I can't imagine what it's like at Cape Fair right now. The parking there is less than perfect when the lake is at normal levels.
  15. The fall was. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGxgNsmff6Q
  16. I'm still mad at him for spilling my whiskey and coke all over me while trying to climb in my lap to give me a kiss after I fell down the stairs.
  17. Well you can't say that you've missed it if you never tried it. That's like my kids saying they don't like peanut butter and bologna sandwiches before they ever try one. But I'm right there with you. I've never used any of it. But then again I also use mono almost exclusively. Oh the humanity.
  18. Well then I would catch and execute every one that you can. And then when the next flood comes (probably any day now) some more will move upstream. I wish the river was full of them. Or at least a river close by.
  19. It's not a problem of differing opinions, it goes way deeper than that. People have always had differing opinions. But what they haven't always had is the need to be told they are right. Take a look at society and you will see the problem is everywhere. It's not a problem on Ozark Anglers, it's a problem with America. And until we get some leadership that doesn't act the same way then it will continue to spiral down this path. But it's my opinion that this leadership is not coming. Ever.
  20. Yeah it has been one of my favorite stretches for years and years. But them James River Outfitters started doing an outstanding job and now it's pretty busy during the summer. Can't blame them though, they do a great job. I like Y to Blunks too. Usually less traffic but you might be paddling lake water towards the end. Still worth it though.
  21. This. I've used different guides every time and haven't had a bad experience yet. The one exception was during the BP oil spill. We had to stay up in the bay but still caught a bunch of fish and the guide let us run some of his crab traps. That was pretty cool.

    What's Cooking?

Looks tasty. My daughter would love that.
  23. I wouldn't call him a troll. Baby yes, but not a troll. Had some respect for him in the beginning but it's been dwindling ever since. This douche move bottomed it out. What is it with people that just want to stir the pot? Is your life so worthless that it is all you can find to do? Holding their head under water until they quit kicking seems to help but creates another problem.
