I can't blame them for that. When I was young and really in it, I still had my own place and a good job while also going to college. But I wasn't making any boat or truck payments. I wasn't paying for gas. I wasn't paying my own entry fees. I wasn't even paying for most of my own tackle. If I needed something then my dad and his buddies would find a way to make it happen. Not everyone out there has to make a check. Some of them are being carried financially and sometimes the only reason people are carrying them is because they think that big dumb kid deserves a chance.

You are correct. It shouldn't, but it absolutely does at times. It's not a bait anomality either. I think the first thing you have to understand, is that we have no idea how a fish sees anything.

I have made the run from Bull Shoals to K dock a few times. I wouldn't do it again, and I was in a boat that would move. I would spend my pre-fishing time closer to Bull Shoals. There is a lot of good fishing in that area.

I have a couple of son in laws that are into gaming. They both have successful careers but they still play online regularly and are very good at it. I am not. I bought the nice Xbox. I’ve tried to do what they do. And I used to be a gamer back in college. But the younger guys have grown up with technology. They are better at it. That’s one thing I noticed while watching the Fork coverage. All of them were young. But it did not surprise me at all.

I watched a bit of that too. The thing that got me is that these FFS guys would not last in an old style tournament. I remember my arm being so tired that you could barely make one more cast. Now these guys just ride around waiting until they see a fish. No need for stamina now. I'm not saying their new way is bad. Some of them obviously love it. But it is going to be all about money now. When I started I could take my dad's old 1978 Ranger and go compete with anyone at 19. Now I wouldn't be able to afford to compete without all the toys. But that's okay, those companies got exactly what they wanted. It was never about fishing to them anyway.

The worst movie I ever had to sit through.

Get together first weekend in march...calling it MARCH MADNESS maybe?

Glad you guys found time to fish during all that eating! -
It is also one of my favorites. It’s loosely based off the Marlow Brothers. I grew up in Marlow, OK. We were the Marlow Outlaws. Lots of interesting history around there.

Are you challenging me?

No they are not. And personally, I don't care what anyone spends their money on. However, I do find it humorous that when the A-Rig came out it had to be banned. It was an unfair advantage. It was unsportsman like. But now that a product with deep pockets comes along, and it's A Okay. Everyone should have 5 or 6 of them.

These are the same people that will scream at you for keeping a bass.

Probably not the right time of the year for it, but I think more people should embrace floating after dark.

Obviously haven’t been in my house or office. My kids even do it too.

My initial thought was, dam that looks good! I’ve been hearing good things about the frozen pizza dough at ALDIs. Making your own is easy too. I just never had any luck with those packs. They never looked as good as yours. But no matter what crust you use it’s going to taste amazing when you basically fry it. You are probably going to smoke up the kitchen a time or two getting that down, but it’s delicious. Once you figure that out try one of those little tubs of garlic spread to grease your skillet. Word of warning though. They only make waders up to a certain size. Then you just don’t fit anymore. LOL.

They need to pull those power poles off the back and figure out a way to use them to raise their screens to an acceptable level while fishing. You know something like that is coming.

Our largest ever for the group I went with was 48 or 49 lbs, out of Cache Creek. We were so depressed that it didn't hit 50. Maybe if we would have weighed it before letting it ride in the back of a pickup for an hour. Somewhere there is an old polaroid of that.
-
Oh. So you never went noodling then. Sissy.
-
Weird. I did it for a long time down there and never even heard of this before now. But we stuck to the muddy rivers close to home. All we had to fight were cottonmouth, diamondback, snapping turtles, and my absolute favorite and the reason I quit, beavers.

Try this with your cast iron pizzas. Yours look great, but this will take it up a notch. Leave that nasty corn meal or whatever else out of it. Grease your skillets and make your pizzas. Once they are made, slide them out of the skillet. Grease it again and put it in the over to preheat. Once they are good and hot, pull them out of the oven and carefully slide the pizza back in the skillet. You should hear the dough sizzling. Then pop them back in the oven to finish.

I always wondered why people of the Ozarks didn’t eat as much catfish as we did in southern Oklahoma. And all of that came from farm ponds. Probably with an oil rig nearby. Even the fish farms that supplied the restaurants, finished off their fish in pins on the same farm ponds and they fed them pellets. Maybe us Okies weren’t smart enough to know it tasted bad. But I have also ate at Dowds and wasn’t impressed with their catfish.

I’m your huckleberry. But pack your bags, we will be doing this in Oklahoma. Probably Cache Creek. Actually I don’t think you are ready for noodling in Oklahoma. And I pretty much swore that I would never go again.

I never have one long enough to rust. If fish don’t destroy it, I don’t stick it in a tree (both above and below water), then I’ll probably bite it off and toss it in the trash. I don’t like used flies.
