  1. Been listening to these brothers from St. Joe, MO. And by brothers I mean they are actual brothers. They spent their summer opening up for the Foo Fighters. I get to shoot one of their performances in KC in a couple of weeks.
  2. Christmas music is my favorite. Glad it will all be gone soon.

    What's Cooking?

I feel violated. I don't hunt anymore. Never was much of a deer hunter. Killed some turkeys, but mostly quail, dove, rabbit, squirrel. Man what I would give for a pan full of barbecued dove breasts. My mom would lay them on a pan, cover with BBQ sauce and bake in the oven. Those were amazing. When I was 16 we moved from southern Oklahoma to Springfield. And I didn't have access to the thousands and thousands of acres of land that we had in Oklahoma. Most of it was owned by family members and nobody was allowed on any of it. Except us. Lose that and the desire kind of goes away. Dad buys a bassboat and I lose my freaking mind over the next decade. I used to clean a lot of fish. I mean a lot. In my late teens and twenties my dad had a friend that made sure a group of his friends got to fish. He's one of those guys that Babler was talking about with the unlimited funds. The summer before my senior year in high school my dad and I went to eat lunch with him. We stopped by a boat place and he decided to buy a new boat while we were there. Champion bass boat. Maroon. I thought it was the most beautiful thing ever. Paid for it with a credit card and we left with it. Blew my mind. Told me to bring a friend the next day and we would go try it out. We meet him at his office and he hands me the keys to his truck and tells us to have fun. That's just how that group ran. And since I was some kid that was just wrapped up in this unbelievable situation, I had some duties that I had to perform. Keep all the boats clean and ready to go. And I had to clean all the fish while they drank and made fun of me. And they liked to keep fish. So even though I still love the taste of fish. I rarely clean anything anymore. I paid my dues and I'll just get a burger on the way home.
  4. I used to take off on Friday night. Get to Fork at 1 or 2. Sleep a few hours. Fish all day and then head home. I bet I've done that a least a couple dozen times. It's about 8 hours.
  5. Let me get the cameras ready. And some popcorn.
  6. That's nothing. I made three very expensive children with mine. Rookies.
  7. I never said that it did. But it's still not an experience I will repeat.
  8. I had one when I was younger. Either 19 or 20. I worked for a auto parts store and a lot of stuff went missing. All of us were sent for polygraph tests. I was as innocent as you can get but I did not care for that experience. My results came back showing I was responsible or involved. I guess that's failing. Thankfully the thief admitted it and everything was clear. I will not ever take another one.
  9. That place has a lot of issues. Beautiful place, way too many people.
  10. Cost of having fun? You have can have a lot of fun for nothing. But what would I spend to have fun with my family or friends and most importantly for the memories? Pretty much all I have if that's what it cost. I guess if I have unlimited funds I would just do more of that. I don't have to live in the biggest place or have my own aircraft. Maybe a really nice off shore boat and a crap ton of camera equipment. The rest would just be spent on memories and making sure the people around me are comfortable as well. I could have a lot of fun with that. And I'll take that trip to space. As long as it's with Elon.
  11. One of my neighbors has an electric mower. I love that thing. I've been thinking of getting one in the spring. But our lawn isn't so large that battery life would be an issue. Plus just getting rid of the noise would be awesome. I started using battery powered weedeaters and blowers a long time ago. Only sucks when I forget to plug the batteries in.
  12. People had the same thoughts about combustion engines in the beginning. You either grasp change or get ran over by it. You don't have to agree with it but your foolish to ignore it and let politics decide for you.
  13. I expect he will be compensated nicely. He’ll never have to work a day in his life.
  14. See I told you engineers would ruin it!
  15. The way resistors work is the reduce the flow of electricity. That reduction causes heat in the resistor. You aren't really just turning down the power, you are converting it into something else, which in that case is heat. That's just wasted energy unless you are creating a heater. So yes you can cool it and control it but it's still energy lost to heat at that point. Lot's of electronic things work by supplying energy in frequencies these days.
  16. Ol Wrenchie has got it figured out!! They do use control modules to extend battery life, or the amount of time it can run before it needs to be charged. But they also do it to control heat. Rheostats in this application would generate a lot of heat as well as drain the battery quickly. The control module gives it power at different frequencies that are controlled by input from another device. It would depend on the particular control module and the motor on whether or not it feeds full current at WOT. The motor probably would not require the full power you have available to reach it's max RPM. Pushing it beyond it's specs just creates meltdowns. I have a box of scrap motors and modules that prove my point. 😁
  17. Yep those are the same. I used to like them but they suck. Get hung on everything. But they drop in the trash just fine.
  18. Oh I know how megabass usually does it with that crap design but it's hard to tell in that pic if they have any barb at all.
  19. I am pro anything electric. But you know these "engineers" aren't going to make it that simple.
  20. Everything he says is accurate. 100% I freaking love the lodge at trout island. A little much for 3-4 guys but such a great place.
  21. Riverwood on the Niangua. Sunburst on NFOW. River of Life Farm on NFOW. Those are three that I have stayed at and had a really good time.
  22. I’ll take likes over cash any day. I really shouldn’t complain because if I wanted to make money at photography I could. But then it becomes a job. And jobs require customers. And a lot of photography customers ruin everything. Besides I have a real job. I was recently asked to take some pics of a senior basketball player. I considered it for a minute until the mother started making a lot of demands. I could have met all those demands but like I said, I already have a real job. So I politely declined. She told me I couldn’t just pic and choose the jobs I wanted to do. LOL! That’s exactly what I can do. Last year I had a mother scream at me on the phone because I couldn’t take pics of her kid that day after school. It didn’t matter to her that I was in North Carolina at the time. She told me she was calling my boss? I have no idea who that is. I also get a lot of requests to do free things for exposure. Two things there. 1) I don’t need exposure because I’m not trying to build a business. 2) If I needed exposure you wouldn’t be asking me. Funny thing is most times I would do it for nothing if you just ask and are polite about it. I’d probably even spend some of my own cash to make it work. I’m getting ready to spend a couple hundred dollars of my own money to take pics of a band at a show in KC. And I’m really excited to get that opportunity.
  23. Nothing better than seeing the Rams lose.
  24. Sweet. I’m getting used to being negatively compensated so anything close to zero would be awesome.
