  1. My daughter has an English degree and is making good money. Plus she has her summers off. It’s not always about the degree, sometimes it’s about the person that holds it. I think one of the biggest problems we have in this country is we decided to start judging happiness by income. Then you end up with a bunch of kids going into fields that they have no interest in. People should strive for their kids to be happy and let them work out the rest. Don’t worry, nobody will look down on you if your kid doesn’t come out of college in 3 years making 100k.
  2. Anyone that works for Walmart will get screwed eventually. They don’t care about their employees or customers at all.
  3. How much are those?
  4. Seems like the size of all bass have gone down. You don’t hear about giants of any kind like we used to.
  5. Been the best smallmouth lake in the state for a long time.
  6. Early is better than late most of the time but it seems like the later fish average bigger. We used to go every Saturday morning and would fish around the big rock island at Cedar Ridge until it was light enough to run wo. Then we would hit secondary points in the big coves across from state park marina. Lots of good smallmouth in that area. Dump the spooks. Those fish just don’t seem to like them. Chug bugs are the ticket. Or if you can find a Heddon’s Dying Flutter. Sometimes they want them really fast but most times it’s just plop-plop-pause-boom. They will be close to the bank. Never a bad idea to throw a fluke or floating worm in behind them every once in a while. Those big smallies like to follow but won’t commit to the surface sometimes. Biggest one I have ever seen followed a buzz frog all the way to the boat three casts in a row. Followed a floating worm a few days later and then I never saw it again.
  7. I always considered Stockton one of the better topwater lakes in the area.
  8. Most of the big float party waters fish pretty good through all the crowds. Those fish are used to it and, like you said, most that are fishing aren't really trying.
  9. One of the reasons that ALL baseball is tanking. It's become a crybaby sport.
  10. I have a pair on now. I'm sorry that it pains you to think either of us is great or reliable. Snagged probably is. I on the other hand am neither. But I do like comfy shoes!!
  11. Of all the places I have gone and fished, the James River seems to be my favorite.
  12. Very sorry to hear that. Can’t even imagine what it feels like to lose a kid. Friends and fishing have helped ease some of my pains over the years. I’m sure it will do the same for you. Good luck to you.
  13. Most of that grass and those lanes are pretty shallow. Shallow enough to get your kayak stuck in the mud at times. The those deeper edges are good. Heading up the lake to the north you will find some better fishing usually.
  14. Just down the road a ways from Big Brutus.
  15. I don’t know if it’s a favorite but it popped up as a memory for today.
  16. Those are interesting.
  17. Hey Dudes are the sheot. I have on a pair right now. Most comfortable shoe you can find in the men’s section.
  18. Looks like Karen is making a political statement in her crocs. I don’t wear Nike either. But it’s just because they make ugly shoes that hurt my feet.
  19. You should hit up @snagged in outlet 3. He seems to be turning into one with his crocs.
  20. They are former college players but I don’t think any of them are thinking about moving up. Hell I don’t even know if that’s a possibility. Talking with the team owner I think they only thing they are wanting is something a bit better than the normal men’s league and for it to be entertaining. It was that for sure. At least I think it was. I’m the most uninformed basketball fan in the world and 99.99% of my experience is with high school basketball. Not playing though. I’ve never played the game.
  21. Ok it's not the NBA, but there is a new professional basketball team in Springfield, MO. I went to my first game to watch them last Saturday and it did not disappoint. A very competitive game against the Tri-State 66'ers. In the end the Bulldogs were on top 92-77. That makes them 3-0 on the season. This is some fun basketball to watch. There is another game this Saturday at 5pm. All home games are played at the O'Reilly Family Event Center on the campus of Drury University.
  22. That sounds cool. I miss that guy. Need to call him.
  23. I haven’t thrown a crease fly in forever. Those salty fish used to love those.
  24. I wasn’t trying to correct you but Ivie has been crazy this year.
