Our "ever-growing" problem starting to get some attention in the Media
motoman replied to skeeter's topic in Table Rock Lake
Forget the drivers age...........12 people on a 20 foot boat?!??..........i can't even picture a 20 footer with that kind of capacity rating..........I'm not sure a 20 foot tri-toon can handle that.:-( - And I'll certainly email my legislators on this matter, like I have in the past; but I'm not holding my breath that it will make a difference. Especially if we have people representiting us in government like that clown Rocky Miller in that video. Not wanting to 'shoot the goose laying the golden egg'; clearly that guy can't see any further into the future past the end of his nose.:-( -

Total shame; but you're right.:-( - We came down for a few days and stay for the fireworks on the water tonight; and thankfully we are leaving in the morning. (Fireworks are right at the end of the cove we stay in; idle along shore out to watch, then idle back in) Prior years haven't been terrible; but there's a 30+ Foot long, catamaran style hull; huge chrome engine exposed with straight open pipes; on a trailer looking to be hitting the water tomorrow. Offshore looking thing that from all appearances, will absolutely splinter any thread of tranquility left down here the next few days. Whatta shame. - But to kinda get back on topic.........I'm not sure what can be done until those who can effect change; put their foot down. - And I love in that article how the state rep says something to the effect of, "...the time to limit the size of boats has passed".........no its not; yah dope! Do your job and drop the hammer NOW. Quit sitting on yours hands and take action. - And for the specific incident of the water patrol not pursuing the boat owner that directly caused damage to a dock because of his boats wake; isn't that like me doing donuts in a gravel parking lot, slinging gravel and damaging other cars, but not being at fault because I didn't directly ram into any cars?!?!?.........my brain is having trouble processing all the nonsense in that article. -

Interesting read. I thought boaters were responsible for their wake?!?!.......guess not.:-( -
I was in a similar position a few years back when I bought my new to me boat. Bearings never got hot on long trips; I always put a pump or 2 of grease in for safe measure.(until blue ring kinda floated in the center; per the instructions) But, decided to tear them down to inspect; just to be safe. It was a colossal waste of time. Seals were fine; no grease being slung; never got hot; play in the wheel was fine (I don't recall the specifics I looked up at the moment; but, everything was fine. While I was in there; I just replaced rear seals.........but in hindsight; it wasn't necessary.

I did it for years throwing finesse stuff. Worked great. I loved being able to see the line better and see the subtle twitch that I might have missed otherwise.(my eyesight is not the greatest anymore) - Regarding reaction baits; as mentioned above, a leader might not be necessary. - I strayed from the high-vis braid and leader; just out of pure laziness. I don't get to fish much like I used too; little ones at home have life very hectic. So when I do get out to fish anymore; I try and simplify, possibly to my detriment........but it is what it is at the moment.:-)

Whoah..........good post...........that video was awesome, I had no idea.:-)
-
Good to hear you had it on!........I religiously wear mine and get snickered at occasionally; but I'm not taking any chances. I'm a great swimmer; but like you found out........stuff happens.
-
Good night Alex.........you sure can catch those biggins..........well done!
-
That's awesome! Well done and great pix.:-)
-
Nice job cheese!..........I said the same thing when reading that report.(lol) The red eye shad makes sense now when I think about it; but it's those kinds of decisions on the water that elude me.(doh!)
-
Good night! That's insane........thankfully, just pea sized in the part of KC we've seen the past couple days.
-
Monsoon down here in KC at the moment!..........storms last night and KY3 said egg size hail nearby somewhere close; but I don't recall where. Water is a funky greenish/bronze color with the sun shinning through it. Visibility about 2 feet. Mature tree half submerged floating perpendicular halfway back in schooner creek.........no other mentionable debris. - No fishing for us; just idle speed tubing with 2 little girls out of everyone's way. Water temp 73'ish until about 9:00am; when a lot of other boaters came out. That's when we chugged back in, off the water. - I know this dead horse gets beat a lot.........but boy; those folks pulling kids on tubes/waterskis that just fly around with wreckless abandon; are concerning. I realize they have just as much right to be on the water, but they still surprise me for some reason, every holiday we come down. I can't believe how clueless and dangerous some of these folks are with clearly overloaded boats; or just the complete disregard for anyone's safety while buzzing around. I'm certainly not perfect, but at least my heads constantly on a swivel, paying attention to others, which is half the battle........but I can't say the same for some of these folks.:-( - No big deal overall though; the goofballs can generally be avoided. Plenty of other fun to be had down here with the family. We come whenever scheduling allows. Holidays or not. - But, like 176 said; be careful and be safe.:-)
-
Whats about dem basses?..........we likes fishin for dems too.:-(
-
Look what we just got at the shop.

Fantastico........Daves jigheads rock! -
Definitely a great job switching it up..........nice fish in that pic too!:-)
-
Oops; I veered off a different direction to which this thread was heading. - I haven't been keeping tabs on things down their the past few weeks.........why is the water coming up? (Lotta rain?)
-
Stillwater's is awful...........my wife makes fun of me for going overboard with locks at Stillwater's. I park the trailer near a tree; cable it to a tree, another lock on the tongue and I take the swingaway tongues pin out and drop a lock thru there too.(lol)..........overkill, I know. But I don't want to have to figure out how to get the boat home on a family vacation.:-( - And I know, I know...........if a thief wants it bad enough, they'll get it. But, why would they hassle with my ole nag; when there's always other trailers on the lot unlocked; ready to just hookup and roll away with.(some with boats too!)
-
That's awfully nice of them to let other resort guests use their ramp...........Sounds like some real Ozarks hospitality right there.:-)
-
Good job there............way to put 'em in the boat and great pix too!:-)
-
Good report and nice job catching. That name Fann sure does pop up high in tourney results down there..............tough bunch to beat!:-(
-
You mean like a go-pro style or an aqua-vu?
-
Cool!.........Thanks Royal; good info!:-)
-
Hey Royal Blue, I forgot to ask......what lead you to switch to the 1/2 ounce on the main lake point?.........as opposed to sticking with what worked halfway back in that pocket. (I'm guessing wind?) - (I'm not questioning your decision, like it was the wrong move........cause clearly it wasn't. I'm trying to crack the ole spinnerbait code.........or should I say, they've whole Table Rock bass code:-P
