  1. I use mono that is 6-7 years old that has been stored in the basement seems fine to me
  2. Wrench me and you could be union reps. I want to be the Pres.
  3. Andrew141 , question have you ever fly fished before. Like Wrench said any fly will catch fish. I really like to sight fish but you need good eyesight, polaroid glasses and practice. Get on You Tube and watch video presentations of different types of flies. What city do you live in. I am sure their is some local sources of info like a fly shop.
  4. I have taught fly tying classes for over 30 years. Most students have trouble tying larger flies let alone small flies. Get on You Tube and learn some basic thread and material handling videos. Like any craft you need to practice. Don't let what someone else likes to fish influence you. Good luck.
  5. They all get beat up, no one has to work any more.

  12. Give Wrench a break. Why would you guys want to poke the bear. You don't want to get him started., you are no match for him.
  13. Ham, about 5 years ago I hooked a 5 lb largemouth on a spro stickbait in 40 degree water . Fish fought hard, reached down to lip it and promptly got a #5 treble hook in a finger. Fish was flopping with the hook in me. Had to get the hook by myself with the fish held between my legs . cut the hook free with my off hand ,pulled the hook out of my hand with a hard yank and gritted teeth. Let the fish go ,replaced the hook ,made one cast and hooked another #5 and you can bet I didn't try to lip this one. Everyone that fishes should own a pair of Manley super pliers 5 in model with a tungsten side cutter on it.They will cut through anything.
  14. Hey Ham ,you keep holding fish like that with dangling crankbaits you might want to get a good pair of pliers to get the bait out of you lol, except you won't be laughing.
  15. I bet I have killed at least 70 deer with a rifle. I have dropped deer where they stood with any of my .243 rifles while others have run 100 yards. Shot many with my 30/06 and had the same thing happens. Same with my .50 caliber muzzle loaders. The one thing they all have in common is that they ended up in the freezer .I have never killed a deer over 100 yards and I haven't shot at them more than once to kill them. I shoot hand loaded ammo in my centerfire rifles . Good shot placement will anchor them every time. After all we are not hunting cape buffalo folks. Most people I see shooting at ranges are happy if the can shoot a three shot group inside a 1lb coffee can lid. I prefer that those shots be within a 50 cent piece on centerfire rifles and a tennis ball for a muzzle loader .I have a friend that shoots deer over 200 yards every year ,he is a really good shot. I was in the hut with him last year when I saw a coyote step out into the field and I nailed it with one shot at 257 yards through the back of the neck as it faced away from me, I thought that was a fairly good shot with a crosswind with my .243. Too bad for all the high prices for ammo it is stupid expensive.
