  1. Good to see them abundant once again. Myself and several others on here will recall how they use to swim in schools or pods of hundreds back in the 70's. You would see them swimming along the edges of the lake during low water.
  2. I like the hat, were you pulling a rickshaw behind your bike?
  3. Back in the 90's I was working on a job at Ellis Fischel Cancer Facility in Columbia. We had to bring a water service into an existing formed up manhole. Jumped in to solder a male adapter on the pipe. Laying beside the 6 inch water line that I was standing on, was a masssasauga rattler about 30 inches long.
  4. Was great to see you guys. We are very much enjoying Susie's homemade from scratch bread and jam. Retied Miss Sandy's box of flies yesterday, and made her pick out and test each hook. No more excuses on lost fish. Hope you guys had a good day on Thursday. I think we are going to wait until midday today and head back over for a few hours.
  5. Unless my memory is completely gone, I am pretty sure they do fin clipping on the river below bennett. Or used to I will say.
  6. I don't recall this, but the hatchery manager at sheppard told me in 05 that they had been doing a 4 year rotation of fin clips on brown trout for the past 12 years. That's how he knew at a glance that my fish was at least 12 years old. Maybe they do not consider hatchery people as MDC.
  7. I got me some of them Troy Landry bullets
  8. Sounds like a new jerk bait style for Duane to work on.
  9. Wow. A great catch Pat. Did you skunk him?
  10. You are right, they are hard to forget. I have got to where I listen to the mute button.
  11. I remember the spray boats. Now cruiser wakes hydro blast the shoreline. Must have the same effect
  12. Talking dogs and lizards, motor cyclops or whatever those half human things are supposed to represent. Limu emu, aflac duck, chick fillet cows, dog test dummies by subaru, the geico pig wee wee wee. Charmin bears wiping their butt. The expedia purple cow. What ever happened to commercials like "see the USA in your chevrolet?
  13. They also "paid" state workers to stay home.
  14. Well we had nothing better to do, so we fished again today. My wife is really getting into this retirement thing. I was surprised to find that it was basically uncrowded today. Go figure it is usually packed house on friday. We didn't catch a big number of fish, but had a good time. I found one of the gut feeders again today. He was busy doing his gut feeding thing so I drifted a little white fly to him and "bam" I missed the hook set. Never got another take on several more drifts. Another great day on the creek with my wife.
  15. Weather was hot and the wet wading was comfortable. Crowds were moderate on wednesday, but it looked like a floodgate event on thursday. The water is slightly high and sight fishing is tuff in most areas. My wife knocked them out of the park on the first day. She was dead drifting a gray scud in the deeper runs. Tight lining with no indicator for those who might ask. She was putting the hammer on me, so I moved off a little farther downstream. Didn't want to draw attention to the fact that she caught them and I didn't. This is a trick that I learned from "Foghorn". His wife quite often puts the hammer on him. There were lots of families with kids fishing on thursday. You really had to be conscious of back casts and hook sets. Sometimes the kids would just wander around behind you. It was good to get out even though the fishing is far from up to par at bssp. Most of the fish were dinks with an occasional small fish. I found two gut feeders that were borderline lunkers but failed to fool either one.

  18. First grandchild was born in April. My wife retired in May. And we got to meet up with an Ozark Angler member and his wife this past week. It was a short but great visit. Look forward to seeing them and other OA members on the creek in 2020. Stay safe everyone.
  19. are we talking wade or boat
  20. My Dad passed away when I was only 17, but he gave me my love for the outdoors and especially fishing. At a very young age, I was following him down any warm water creek and fly fishing for anything we could get to bite. Not sure how old I was, but one day after work he brings home a fly tying vise and all the components to tie flies. He says, "here you go, have enough flies tied up for this coming weekend". I had no idea how to tie a fly, but luckily there was a little pamplet that came with the vise. Those flies were pretty crude, but you know what, they caught fish. During summer months we would hit the creek, wet wade and fly fish. In the winter months we would rabbit hunt and jump shoot ducks off local ponds. Thank you Dad for all you did.
  21. "too many scuds" Is there a hidden message in that statement?
  22. Now catch a giant trout. You will probably catch a flathead first .
