  1. In the past year, triploid browns are surpassing our sheep creek strain. The Conservation Federation Magazine has an excellent article this month, on addressing this take over. You can access it online. September 2018 vol 79, no 5, page 50.
  2. That is a really nice fish Seth, congrats.
  3. Like "fw" , I never fish a dropper. I watch people catch fish with no problems all the time. My thoughts on the matter has always been "what if". What if, you hook a giant fish and while attempting to land it the second or third fly becomes hooked on tangled on some other object in the water and breaks you off? What if, while attempting to land any fish, the second or third hook becomes hooked in you with a flippy floopy fish on the other end? The thought of either scares me enough not to use them.
  4. Did motroutbum take the picture of the mountain goat on your trip up the mountain?
  5. I wonder if it is illegal to buy them?
  6. He shamed more than one person into leaving Pete.
  7. Regulation signs, pamplets, and the occasional fisherman telling you that it is a violation, does not seem to phase many people anymore. Maybe we should do what my late friend Darrell used to do at taneycomo. He would start yelling and bring it to the attention of all other anglers close by. "Hey this , not so nice person, is shuffling or using the wrong bait, or keeping slot limit fish. It seemed to work better.
  8. that would be enough to scare anyone
  9. My fly casting was once referred to as having "LOFT" "lack of ....... talent"
  10. I love to fly fish zone 3, but I keep losing my powerbait on the back cast.
  11. Don't know.
  12. 15 daily at loz but possession is based on the stated wide limit at 60.
  13. "Laker" is the mascot name for Camdenton high school and "67" was the year I graduated. During a 30 year reunion get together, we had hats made that read Laker67. I used that name when I first joined Phil's website, the "Conservation Cafe" and continued on to this site. Another great topic Ness. Thanks to all that contribute.
  14. Night bite using mice. Do you fish that like an alabama rig? Great fish.
  15. Wow . Great fish Duane. Was it a trip?
  16. Not looking seems to be the biggest issue. Just yesterday, at said location, I witnessed a guy crossing from the island side to the parking side. Instead of angling across above the cut, he walks directly on the edge of the cut while talking to someone on the parking side, He would step and the gravel would crumble off and his right side would go from knee to waist deep. That happened almost every step, yet he continued to talk and walk that same line. The current is noticeably stronger now than last year because they narrowed the gap. I was expecting the worse but he made it. I am positive that he wasn't even aware of what could have happened.
  17. Springfield news channel must use the core site also, every night they show it at 701. They can show flood gates during the news but show the level at 701.
  18. Yes. And in the 90's and early 2000's i fished most every weekend. Saw some kayaks and maybe a drift boat come up from the boat ramp when the water was off. One bass boat around 2004 and it made several passes when the water was up and running. It was a moonlit night and they appeared to be throwing some type of crank bait. They would drift close to outlet two and then on down through brown boulevard. I was at outlet two.
  19. After 37 years of night fishing, I could count on both hands the number of boats that I have seen after dark. 9 of those would be MDC shocking survey boats.
  20. He could probably guess how many, but no one would believe him. I have watched him catch half of them.
  21. blue is supposed to be albino. they have had several in years past
  22. My good friend Jim, "Harv" on OAF, has tied one similar since the late seventies. I still carry one in my fly box today. It is an awkward fly to fish, but has accounted for several large trout, two tiger musky, and numerous other warm water fish.
  23. I use to go to every early march. I would always fish swan creek side but from the ball field up along the sand bank. Never did great but was always entertaining. Usually I would talk to a gentleman by the name of Paul Henry. One day when I was fishing, I found some nice size walleye right up along the bank in a dazed condition. After working with them for a while, they slowly swam back out away from the bank. Later that day, Paul Henry told me that AFG had been up there doing one of their shock surveys. Occasionally I would catch a small walleye or two but not that day.
  24. Fishing equipment is like a master card. Don't leave home without it.
