  1. it's always interesting to see how these guys work their baits. Watching Murray fish a jig, he'll wind the reel handle reel quick for a couple of turns, then he'll pause it for a second and repeat.
  2. That's pretty neat, I have always been interested to hear how that lake fishes for panfish. Not surprised to hear about the crowds however.
  3. They grow like some kind of super power alien invader on the wet side of the mountains in Washington. They would take over anything, empty lots, pastures, logged out tree farms, it's nuts. Based on those dang things thriving it that cool wet weather, this should be a great year for them here. My grandma made a killer black berry cobbler. Vanilla ice cream on top of warm cobbler, man that was good.
  4. Looks like EE sat on a lure and got hooked in the rear, hopefully for his sake it is not in the skin. Ouch.
  5. Here's one from Beaver lake.
  6. Well Bill you got me to look, and it was worth it as EE boated an 8 lb 9 oz fish. And that fish appeared to be spawned out or at least partly spawned out. No idea what the gear ratio is on those reels, could be low ratio for the power and maybe that is the reason they are cranking so fast. EE would crank, crank, crank, and then stop and pull it a few feet, then do it again, whereas KVD was just straight out cranking.
  7. I believe that the smallmouth population has increased over what it was in the past. I've been fishing Beaver for about 13 years now, so didn't get a chance to see what it fished like before that.
  8. Do you think he meant to say it would run on June 12th, not May 12th?
  9. Launched at first light and fished until 1030 AM. Cold morning for this time of year, had the hoodie on to start the day. Fished a Surge Shad early, caught one 12" smallmouth on it, lost another one that looked to be decent sized and had several swings and misses. Went to the Keitech and at first was throwing it up close to the bank and bringing it back - that worked a couple of weeks ago, but not so much now. Started running the Keitech deep, as in 20 feet down right off the bottom and started to get fish, it was never hot fishing, but a bite here and there. Got a couple that were over deep water and hit the bait on the drop. By the time I left, I had a dozen bass and a couple of keeper walleye that I did not keep. One of the wallies had a messed up back. Very little striper top water activity, I cruised around quite a bit early looking for some but never saw anything significant. Picked up some milfoil (I think that's what it is) in several places when dragging the swim bait off the bottom. WT 70.
  10. I believe they are holding water due to the river gauge at Newport being at 18 feet. They will usually hold off drawing down water until the gauge is at least down to 14. With more rain on the horizon, you guys may have this good water to fish for a while. At least that is my reading of the tea leaves.
  11. It is a nice one.
  12. Alright! Good to hear you two got together and had some good fishing.
  13. Thanks for the report!
  14. Been having tendinitis in my right achilles, makes it painful to walk. Tried several walking shoes, ended up with some Brooks Ascend, and I can walk again pain free - at least for now. I would not call them real comfortable, but that's OK.
  15. Pinot Noir or Merlot, I like the stouter wines. I like stout beer too.
  16. Interesting, if there was a team in NWA I might go watch a game or two. Looking at this years draft, I would say these guys are a level below G-league. Pretty good players I bet, but I doubt any of them are NBA bound.
  17. Couple of weeks ago, on the local lake they were in a pre-spawn mode. They would eat redworms on a drop shot, and crickets under a float. They were in about 5-10 FOW. If I was fishing TR for gills right now, I'd be looking around some of the smaller pockets where they spawn, fishing out a bit deeper in that 5 -10 foot range. I fish more of a horizontal mode with the drop shot - cast it out and slowly work it back, helps you to search water as it appears you'll be doing.
  18. 28" walleye is a big stinking eye, congrats!
  19. Could've gone underneath one of the front seats, I didn't look there.
  20. You can't get away from it around here. Bella Vista lakes are getting pounded, Beaver gets pounded, it is crazy.
  21. Too late, it has gone to the trash.

  23. Cleaned the truck interior today. I have a fold down middle seat up front and underneath the seat is this little slide out tray like deal, I slide it out to clean it and there lies a.........Hot Dog! Seeing the charred exterior of the dog, I knew that it came from the OA tourney cookout, so it had been in the truck for 2 months. Never smelt a thing. Needless to say the dog was dried out like a stick. Neighbors dog was lying on their driveway, the evil person in me wanted to toss that dog to it, but I decided not to do it. No idea how that hot dog got where it did.
  24. Yep, I'd say Prairie Creek. Dunno what the water is like mid-lake however, I haven't been to that part of the lake in a while.
  25. Based on this drone video, I don't think you'll have a problem finding a place to park. Best view of the lot is near the end. BOB KIDD LAKE - YouTube
