  1. Fished out of Tom from Eagle Rock's boat today, found out my trailer has a leaking seal on the inside of one of the rear wheels so it is out of commission until it gets fixed. It is good to have friends that will take you fishing when your boat is sidelined. This was one of those days where we worked for our fish, never found any hot spots and would have long periods of no bites, but we did get some here and there. We caught 30 bass (5 keepers), a couple of short walleye and a white and a nice crappie. I caught a one pound largemouth on my first cast of the day using a spinner bait and never got another bite on the spinner bait all day, bass fishing can be a funny thing sometimes. I don't recall catching any fish deeper than 10 feet, we did get a couple of keepers early with the boat sitting in 30 feet and throwing up onto a shelf that was out off the bank a ways, but only about 10 feet deep. We caught a lot of our fish shallow on the Rock Crawler and the 2.8 Keitech, up in that stained water with wind on gravel and some buck brush around. A few jig fish too. Tom saw the WT hit 56 in some of that shallow water. Lots of boats out there.
  2. There was an MLF sponsored college tourney today - winner had 19 pounds and change. Tomorrow there is an MLF high school tourney. Quite a few boats up the White today, but couldn't tell if any one of them were fishing the college deal.
  3. Way to go, you folks got some chunks!
  4. I've been itching to get back on the Big Lake, there was a pretty good bass bite here on the Bella Vista lakes so that and weather has kept me off the Rock for a couple of weeks, finally made it over yesterday. I have some pre-spawn spots that I can almost always find bass on this time of year, but they just weren't there yesterday. The water is pretty stained, pea green soup in color, and that seems to have pushed the fish much shallower than I thought they would be. It took me a while to figure that out so lost valuable fishing time trying to find them. Got a few early on a Shad Rap, one was a keeper sized smallie, the rest were 10-12" spots. Had one fish hit the Rap and just about yank the rod out of my hands, it pulled drag for a second and was gone. About 10 AM I realized what I was doing, throwing the Rap, swimming the Keitech deep, and dragging the Ned was not working, I was getting one every once in a while, but not getting the number of bites I'd like to get this time of year. Out of desperation I decided to fish a gravel point that the wind was blowing across, I was hoping for some walleye action, didn't expect any bass. Threw a Keitech up shallow, and got a keeper spot after about 2 cranks on the reel. Got 4 more spots off that point, nice 14-15" fish. Spent the remaining three hours I had left bouncing around to gravel banks and points that had wind and would usually get a bite or two off each spot. Never got any more keepers, but had some fun with the spinning tackle. Saw water temp at almost 53 and that was out off the bank a ways. A lot of bass boats out there, I checked the MSP regatta listings and there's a 100 boat permit for an MLF/FLW tourney this weekend that starts Friday. Quite a few other tourneys too. Better bring your own brush pile if you plan on fishing the Rock this weekend.

  6. Gallery pics are still gone.
  7. It was good to have you, hopefully you can come back next year to defend your title!
  8. Congrats to your son on the big fish! Bring him to next years OA One Bass tourney.
  9. A great day for fishing, it was cold to begin with, but by the time of the weigh-in it was a pleasantly warm, sunny afternoon. We'll have to make sure that going forward M&M picks the date for us as he did a fine job of getting us scheduled into a nice day to fish. Quite a few bass were caught, but a tough day to get big fish. 2.9 largemouth was the winner with several more around 2.5 lbs. weighed in. Jerkbaits and Rock Crawlers were working well, I heard of fish being caught on bluff ends, bank transitions, and in the backs of pockets and coves. Several accidental trout were caught, biggest was 3.1 lbs. Also some walleye were tallied and I heard of a couple being keepers. And thanks for the donations to Christian Action Ministries, you guys were very generous! Kbilb did not win this year, but Jaybill, fishing with him got the winning fish. Here's the winning fish: Some honorable mentions: Here we are at the pavilion:

  18. I'd like to see some a couple of years of low water in the spring so that some of the buck brush can rejuvenate. A lot of it that grew up in the low water back 10 years ago or whenever that was, has died. Once it dies it gets brittle and then the waves pound it to smithereens and it is gone except maybe for a little stump kind of deal.
  19. I emailed Tim a week or so ago and he says he is doing well and is also painting lures. He does some outstanding work, highly recommended.
  20. Hey Phil, the Gallery images are gone. @Phil Lilley
  21. I do have some pics, I'll post them tomorrow, I'm too whupped to do it now. Winning fish was a 2.9 caught by one of Kbilb's crew, I think his name is Jay (my apologies if I got that wrong). Several of the guys caught quite a few fish but the big girls did not come out to play. Interestingly someone caught a 3.1 lb. rainbow, which beat all the bass. Someone else caught a couple of rainbows too. Good day for incidental trout.
  22. Thanks guys, a few days ago I had a Windows upgrade and didn't know if it was just me. I will notify Phil.
  23. I don't see anyone's avatars anymore beside their username. Also on the main forum I don't see the ad banners that are sometimes assigned to forum topics, just the filename.jpeg (or whatever). I do see photos posted in threads however. Anyone else having this issue?
  24. HAHA, please no doughnuts, because I will eat them all and I really need to be staying away from those things.
  25. Nice smalls!
