  1. Welcome! You're not too far from the White river below Beaver dam.
  2. I might make a Banzai run over for the fish fry. Someone needs to volunteer to pick up the oil for Bret. I'd do it, but still not sure if I'll make it for the feed or not.
  3. NC has always sounded like a state with some good fishing opportunity, good luck!
  4. Man that is some extensive surgery. Looks like you are on your way to recovery, hopefully the worst is over.
  5. We did, well it was Muddywater. It was some really good fishing for a week or so.
  6. Took my trailer to JWM Trailer in Reeds Spring, the part that holds the bow roller in place, broke off and needed to get re-welded, so I had a couple of hours to kill. Aunts Creek isn't too far from JWM, so rolled over there. With the water down there is plenty of bank access if you don't mind walking on the chunky rock. Caught a couple of bass on the Ned rig. I like bank fishing every once in a while, no boat to deal with, take a rod and a little box of lures and you're good to go. If the water stays down this winter I plan to do it some more.
  7. It's on TR I believe, the Toyota Bonus Bucks is what it is called. Maybe there is another on Stockton?
  8. Forgot to mention something about the FryZ - the little boot tail on them kicks nicely at slow speed.
  9. I'm probably not going this year, too much going on. Cody, if you want to run with it and set it up that would be cool. Last year Miles mentioned that he would reserve a couple of places for us, don't know if he did or not.
  10. They were all blacks as far as I could tell. Seems to be the case for the ones I catch, but I would think there are some white crappie in the lake too. Very healthy fish, even the 10" ones yielded a decent fillet.
  11. Congrats on the win! Beaver has been fishing decently the last few years, it's not dead but more like a zombie.
  12. Last year, about mid-November is when the BassPro million dollar tourney was held. I watched some of the coverage and most of the people I saw that were doing well were fishing deep water in big coves. Primarily using FFS, locating fish, and throwing Keitech type swimbaits or spoons at them. I fished that time of year also and was catching some up the White river deep on swimbaits and drop shots. Deep as in 30-50 FOW. I don't fish Long Creek so I don't know if that will apply up there. I like to start fishing Ned rigs about mid-November, that is another option if you like to fish them. Pete Wenners puts out some excellent video reports, I'd watch some of those when the time gets near.
  13. Bass fishing has been tough on the Rock lately. I believe the Toyota owners tourney is this coming Saturday, it will be interesting to see the results.
  14. Went fishing with Tom from Eagle Rock today out of the back of his boat. It was like fishing with a guide as far as the crappie, he knew where to go and would even tell me where to cast. He also has LiveScope which was interesting to look at, this being the first time I have seen it in action on the water. We caught 15 keeper crappie between the two of us, right off the tops of brushpiles. We'd catch a few and move to another pile, as they would stop biting once we pulled a few out. I was using Z-Man FryZ on a 1/15 oz head and Tom was using grub type deals. We spent about 70% of our time crappie fishing, the other 30% being spent in pursuit of the elusive bass and they were elusive today. We caught 3 that were worth mentioning, Tom getting a largemouth that was our only keeper bass. I think I remember the WT being 69.
  15. Fished them for the first time today, caught 10 crappie. Best color was their version of Electric Chicken on a 1/15 oz Z-Man Finesse head in chartreuse. I was fishing in the back of my buddy's boat who has Livescope and about 20 years experience on Table Rock and knew where the crappie were located this time of year. We caught 15 keeper crappie between the two of us and the Shad FryZ outcaught his plastic grubs at about 2 to 1. We were swimming baits over the tops of brush piles. @Ham
  16. Thanks for the report!
  17. Colt SA Army that went for $345,000 at auction. The Rock Island site is an interesting one to browse to see the auction prices of old handguns. Colt Single Action Army Revolver Owned by General Emory Upton | Rock Island Auction
  18. You've probably heard of this gunfight, took place in Springfield. Hickok–Tutt shootout - Wikipedia
  19. My sole revolver is an 1873 SA .45 LC Cavalry model (replica). It was the sidearm carried by the 7th cavalry at the Little Bighorn. I've read a lot about that battle and have visited the battlefield twice, it's right off of I-90 which I have traveled several times on my way back and forth to Washington. I plan to go back one more time one of these days. Range gun, fun to shoot cowboy loads, but it is expensive ammo, about a $1 per round so I don't shoot it much. 20. Some great fish, congrats!
  21. You may have company.
  22. As far as the fireball, it was reported by quite a few people across the area. Report a Fireball (amsmeteors.org)
  23. Thanks buddy, no fishing for me today. I am now 65. Only upside to that is that I now am on Medicare, saving me quite a bit on my health insurance bill. And this morning, walking the dog at about 10 minutes to 6 AM, saw a fireball cross from west to east low on the horizon. Biggest meteor I have ever seen, must have been seen by lots of other people.
  24. Nice looking brookie too, most of the pics of ones I have seen from the White look like they just got off the truck.
