Looks like Brett will be coming with his fryer and flathead. I will bring the oil. I propose Friday to be fish fry night. If Brett needs more fish, I might bring some locally caught bass fillets, and maybe some Beaver lake spotted bass fillets. Seems like Brett always fries some taters and onions too, I don't remember if he brings that or it someone else does. I also plan to bring paper plates, cups, and utensils. I will bring ketchup also. Coffee - I am going to stay in the A-frame and there will be coffee there in the early morning. For those that are staying in the other lodges, you are welcome to come over to the A-frame, or you can bring some coffee and make it at your place. Breakfast - I plan on bringing some granola bars and possibly some Hostess doughnuts, ya'll might want to think about bringing your own favorites. Lunch - Usually no one is around for lunch, but someone should bring bread and lunchmeat for those that want to pack a lunch. So we'll need ideas/food for Thursday night and Saturday night. Beverages - Bring your own, but certainly would be good if someone brings some bottled water and some assorted sodas. Also need a bunch of trash bags. Does anyone know if there is a functioning dishwasher in the River Villa?

As I understand it (and there are exceptions) once Bull drops down to power pool level, where it is now, SWPA controls the release of water through the turbines to generate electricity. Unless things have changed, and you never know, what you are seeing is not a COE draw down.

So you and pops are in?

I posted this in the other thread, but should post it here too. Price will be between $110 and maybe all the way to $150 to stay per person, once we get closer I'll have a pretty close to final price. Same price for all whether you stay 2 or 3 nights. Cash or checks only, checks made out to Riley Station.

Lately I have been getting mine at Walmart. I have astigmatism, near sighted and I get no line bifocals. I get the Nikkon lightweight lenses and titanium frames. I can't remember what they cost me as I got a 2nd pair of prescription polarized no line bifocals lenses at the same time and the total was around $850. A few months ago I purchased a pair of prescription safety glasses from rx-safety.com. Transition lenses, no line bifocal. They are wrap around and subject to distortion as Phil mentioned. But I purchased them mainly for the pistol range and for other stuff where I might need safety glasses. They are fine at the range, but problematic for reading. Even with the best lenses they offered, the cost was about $225.

Thanks - I put his contact info in my notes. One of these days I will fish up there.

Well sorry to see you probably won't make it. We'll probably have enough room should you make a last minute decision to go. BTW, if you are in the area late December and want to fish Beaver, give me a holler. That is assuming the weather isn't too crazy.

Yeah, don't go to that wheelchair if you can help it, once in one of those things you may never get out.

I took pain meds for three days after my knee replacement, dang things were worthless.

Cloudy, windy, morning - time to toss a jerk bait! Caught a few on the jerker, missed a few, then after a while the bass seemed to lose interest. Nothing sizeable, but fun to catch them on it. Throwing it to the bank and working it back, bites would come in about 5-10 FOW. After that, went deep. Dragging a C-rig and a little drop shotting. Caught some spotted bass, only one was a keeper. Most were 13-14" and fat. Out deep in the 25-40 foot range. Zoom Finesse worm was my best bait. Spent quite a bit of time fishing near Tom from Eagle Rock, he was getting deep fish on a jig. WT was 68 when I left, it is cooling down!

Lilley's Lake Taneycomo Fishing Report, October 25
Quillback replied to Phil Lilley's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
Those are big bows, they look like summer run steelhead. -
I also need to make it up there one of these days. Did you go with a guide?

Good deal buddy! Buzz bait bites are the best.

looks like some great weather!

Cedar Gables is booked the weekend we are coming. But not to worry, I have talked to Miles and we will book the A-Frame, the Bunk Lodge, and the River Villa. We can use the River Villa as the gathering place for meals, and for those that want to dance and sing with Cody into the wee hours of the night. I am going to grab a room at the A-Frame for myself and the pooch. Total cost will be $2130, which isn't much more than what we would've paid if we were able to get Cedar Gables. I'm thinking we may have 16 to 20 staying so we're looking at $135 - $110 per person.

Intended to chase some top water stripers, could not find any. It was really foggy early which didn't help as far as being able to cruise around looking for them. So fell back to chasing smallies in the timber and off the points in Indian creek. Caught one decent one and a handful in the 10-14" range and a bunch of tiny 5 inchers. GP Ned rig. Once it got sunny and calm the fishing really got slow and I left at noon. WT 69

Glad you can make it. Let me know how much oil you need and I will bring it.

Last time out on Beaver, a few weeks ago, that was all I caught, smallies around 10-11 inches. Must have been a good spawn that year.

Nice cool October day, not much wind early, but it did pick up later in the day. Really tough fishing, it was a ghost town out there, if I had not been given a tip on where some were schooling deep I probably would've caught only one or two. The spot I was given a tip on was near the channel drop and the fish were holding in 30-40 FOW. Quite a few on the screen, would've been a great time and place for the drop shot, except I did not have any drop shot stuff with me. I picked up a few dragging a c-rig on the bottom, three of them were keeper spots and a couple of shorts. Used a UV Speed Craw and a Fish Doctor on the c-rig. Eventually those fish moved out and that was it for that spot. Did some bank pounding with a jig and crank for a while, and just nothing, one pick up on the jig was all I got. Left at noon. WT 71. Tough, but it beat a day at work.

A guy is driving around the back woods of Montana and he sees a sign in front of a broken down shanty-style house: 'Talking Dog For Sale.' He rings the bell and the owner appears and tells him the dog is in the backyard. The guy goes into the backyard and sees a nice looking Labrador Retriever sitting there. "You talk?" he asks. "Yep" the Lab replies. After the guy recovers from the shock of hearing a dog talk, he says, "So, what's your story?" The Lab looks up and says, "Well, I discovered that I could talk when I was pretty young. I wanted to help the government, so I told the CIA. In no time at all they had me jetting from country to country, sitting in rooms with spies and world leaders, because no one figured a dog would be eavesdropping, I was one of their most valuable spies for eight years running... but the jetting around really tired me out, and I knew I wasn't getting any younger so I decided to settle down. I signed up for a job at the airport to do some undercover security, wandering near suspicious characters and listening in. I uncovered some incredible dealings and was awarded a batch of medals. I got married, had a mess of puppies, and now I'm just retired." The guy is amazed. He goes back in and asks the owner what he wants for the dog. "Ten dollars" the guy says. "Ten dollars? This dog is amazing! Why on Earth are you selling him so cheap?" "Because he's a liar. He's never been out of the yard."

Best part of the top water striper fishing is the blow up on the lure. Then you're in for a long fight. They never jump which is too bad, it would be pretty cool if they could grab some air.
-
Nice! I may go look for some stripers on Beaver Friday morning.
