  1. They blamed mine on "Dumb Luck". Plenty of that going around..... 4 years ago today when I found the second one. Still cancer free. Maybe!!
  2. Did you give up growing the Whacky Weed in the basement??
  3. Back in 08, it was just 22, 5.56, and defensive handgun rounds that disappeared. This year, its all gone. Every Elmer Fudd has stocked up a supply for every type of weapon they own. All of the oddball calibers are gone. Everything. I was at a shop Sunday, couple found 2 boxes of 300 Weatherby Magnums on the shelf. He bought 1 and the clerk was trying to get him to buy the other. We all joked about it, at $5 a round, you want to line stuff up when you pull the trigger.
  4. I think you may have to have a license if you have too many pounds of black powder.
  5. The EPA will be coming after you for lead pollution.
  6. There are some slick rocks in all of that grass. Dunked there many times. Years ago, Lassiter's was a pay access to cut across the guys field to fish there. Had to watch out for the bull he kept around there. The area above Cold Springs on the west side had a canoe rental place there and a campground. We stayed there a time or two, but it went out of business. The store bldg was still there and a few of the old aluminum canoes last time I cut thru there. The rickety old stone bridge across the river is a wonderful ride. There was a shop there between the road and the boat ramp that had a small pond behind it. It did not last long.
  7. http://ozarkanglers.s3-website-us-east-1.amazonaws.com/monthly_2021_02/thumbnail_0112210839a.thumb.jpg.9e998f6545ab4e7e06203b2630c1c77b.jpg Sure looks like the one on the left is longer.
  8. Looks like the water had a pretty good color to it. It has been running high since this time last year. Lots of water in that drainage trickling thru.
  9. I purchased a crossbow a few weeks ago and several bolts on Clearance. Gonna use that to save ammo. Been shooting the Air Rifles again, scored some pellets the other day at Wally World. Even those are scarce. I found 200 rounds of practice 9mm at Academy the weekend the snow started melting. My first since ole Bindy and Cum allah bob took the reins. Its being recycled at gun shows and on Fbook for a mint. 4x or 5x normal price by scalpers.
  10. I have been by that access hundreds of times but only dropped a canoe in and floated to dam one time. I may have to hit it with a boat one time myself
  11. Cleaned off my raised beds this afternoon and put covers on to warm and dry them out. Still frozen even with the 63 degree day.
  12. Thats a big sauger. What were the stats on it?
  13. Oneshot would like Bailey Joe's in Arcadia, some Coon A ss cooking there. Good BBQ too. The old civil war fort, Johnson Shutins, Elephant Rock, several iron mines, Taum Sauk Mtn and the pumped storage facility for Ameren, old lookout towers, Council Bluffs, shops at Caledonia are all in a 30-40 mile radius. Fort Davidson is where I would stay in Ironton, old friends from college days have run it a long time. Good, clean and reasonable. Across from the Civil War Fort.
  14. Somebody stole a house to make that sign....
  15. They seem confused around here. Heading up the river 2 weeks ago, then reversed course and were going back south all last week.
  16. I just switched from bikini's to boxers. More of a sagging issue due to age. WD 40 is a "Moisture Displacement" chemical. Not sure if the ad is very true. But it works on old distribution units when they get soaked with a shower. Brings the spark back to life.
  17. West of Current River on the Piney. Still good scenery.
  18. From Killarney to the St Francois? Pretty skinny water in normal flow.
  19. Many times. String and some kind of bait like a fish gut. Drop it down and let them pinch, flip them out on bank. Caught a nice mess on 11pt one trip many years ago. We were cleaning trout at the 19 bridge access and tossing the offal into the river on a moss lined bank. Noticed the crawdads swarming it. Tied some guts on the hook and grabbed another ziploc bag. I caught them, buddy tossed them in a bag. We flushed them out for a day in a cooler and feasted. Picked up some already cleaned tails today for some Etoufee, had a craving for it.
  20. Always something to look at in that area. Make it an over nighter and shack up in a motel. Enjoy the local flora of a small town. Arcadia, Caledonia, Fredricktown. Mountains old as the world's beginnings. Mining, Parks, Elephant Rocks, Shutins, and just simple folks enjoyin life.
  21. You mean "pull the hose and run it till it stops" kinda thing? Did that all the time with my 2 strokers. But, now I just pay the extra for the ethanol free stuff. And over half the fleet is converted to 4 strokers. They are Mercs, gonna puke anyway.
  22. Flying squirrels are rare. Of course I am seldom out during the night in the woods to see them anymore.
  23. More coming tomorrow..
  24. Love to do flowers or butterflies, not floating around my kitchen window at moment. -3 this morn. Had to shovel drifts of snow away from beehives so they would not suffocate.
  25. I still had lettuce and snow peas from last fall not long ago. Feb killed all of it off.
