  1. What is her rank in the Army?
  2. I use a rope pulley system with a 15lb window weight. They are getting hard to find.
  3. Brake cable. Activates brakes if trailer comes off hitch. Not really sure why he worries about prop rotation going down road.
  4. I have noticed that unless they are a part of the house, they don't get used often enough. Basements, safe rooms, are better choices. Who wants to run across the yard in a storm?
  5. On the way. Good luck, my Mother has been going thru them this spring. I have not been by to see here in person because of my weakened condition.
  6. How much time have you spent in it during a storm?
  7. Put some more shelves in there and store canned goods out of garden. The storm cellar we had on the farm growing up kept our canned goods, taters, and onions from the garden. Don't ever remember using it in a storm.
  8. I met up with Rusty at Siteman when he got the good news. His first PET test since treatment shows his body is cancer free. Another win for the great team there.
  9. That is because the black snakes eat all their food. Seldom see a king snake anymore, best snakes of all. Eat rodents, copperheads, and are docile to handlle.
  10. Cool, you found a mated pair. Keep eyes out for all of the little green tailed babies that should show up soon. Did you know copperheads give live birth, no eggs in nest.
  11. We usually get out on the eroded banks of rivers in TN. Indians were so thick many years ago that relics was out all of the time. I thought Ice Age relics were usually found more in the area around the Missouri River and its tribs.
  12. From what I hear, Current River is a mess of sunken cars, houses, and powerlines on the lower ends. We actually fished the Doniphan stretch last summer and was amazed at the amount of development that had taken place down there. I am sure most of it washed away in the flood. A friend had water in a cabin above Van Buren at Deer Run that sit on a bluff over looking the river. This never happened in the 40 years they owned it. She actually lived in another house at a lower elevation that was completely washed away. Buddies did the Pre Memorial Day float on the Spring River this weekend. Gravel bars cleared off of trees and a few overturned campers were all they found. River is about normal with minimal damage.
  13. If you buy a gun from FFL licensed dealer, you file paperwork and get background check. The gun itself is not "registered". Non licensed individuals can buy, trade, gift firearms to each other without checks or paperwork. Buy some 38 shotshells and you have a good little snake gun. Or just take it out and shoot paper with it. It could be used for concealed carry if you desire.
  14. No need to register. You are legally fine.
  15. I would have felt worse if you were reporting gettin bit by it. It is just a snake, plenty more where that one came from. Keep looking, there is another close by.
  16. I think the whole concept of fishing revolved around gathering them as food.
  17. Congrats to her.
  18. Oh, we will beat it. May come out limping a little after the fight.
  19. In my 50 years of studying streams, I have noticed most have filled in and become wider. Big changing floods like this may help since most were carved by melting glaciers flooding the landscape.
  20. I have the cream and have started using it this week. Feels and looks like a mild sunburn. Thanks for the support. Looking at others around me, I still realize how lucky I am to only have the problems I suffer. Others have it so much worse.
  21. Week 2 of radiation treatment in St. Louis, all seems well. Neck is feeling like a sunburn, it has its own little glow about it. Dose 6 nailed my beer taster glands and salt sense. Other taste buds are still there. I am still able to do normal activity, just have to protect the neck. According to the docs, this should be the last normal week, pain should start coming along with treatment damage. Enjoying the city life. New people every day looking for a home.
  22. Radiation only, no chemo. No infection risk other than tooth decay or thrush in mouth. Have to protect head and neck from sun.
  23. I have fished Hamilton a few times. Tough lake. Top end is a cold water discharge lake the supports trout over half of the year. Lower end is typical warm water fishery. But every bit of the banks are developed almost. And during the summer it is a ski fest. That being said, the trout can be fun when they are there. And you can catch some fish as long as your are there before Memorial Day and after Labor Day.
  24. My maters are yellow and sickly. Need more dry warm days and warmer nights. Snow peas are putting on. Picking a few strawberries, new patch did not produce this first year. Cucumbers, squash, and beans are up finally. Not sure how this is going to work this year, next five weeks I will only see the garden on the weekends since I am staying in St. Louis for the treatments during the week. First week down and feeling normal so far. Watering may be a problem, better half not much of a green thumb.
  25. True, they start at the Ozark Plateau and dig down from there into the ancient sediments.
