  1. Academy had 12mp Muddy Game cams on sale tonite for $29. Its sitting in back yard checking its usefullness
  2. Even worse, I think you nailed an endangered species. Looks like a Whiporwill. Something has been thinning them out for the last many years. Some thought the mosquitoes and West Nile was getting them like it did the crows and jaybirds for a while. But now they are getting serious and trying to find out with a study of them. I miss their song of a nite. Posting anything on the www gets you public attention. Don't ask, Don't tell, Don't post, Don't brag. Any bird unless its farm fowl or legally harvested and licensed with papers is off limits in possession. Commercial store bought feathers not included. That being said, looks like some good soft hackle for tying there. Nicely barred.

    51!

First duck pushing front came early this year. Did anyone see any teal move thru? Drove thru the refuges today, lots of water to land in. Frost by Labor Day???
  4. Pumps are usually in back by the transom. They will have an inlet hole.
  5. I always buy the stuff that does not matter getting roughed up a little. Don't have to priss around with aluminum boats like you do glass...
  6. Actually they breed on Bees wax. Leave a hive out without bees in it and they will breed fast. Little moth comes in and lays eggs. Then the larva burrow thru the comb eating the honey. Fish love them because they are little sweet wiggly maggot looking things.
  7. Probably traded it in this year for a new model. Both rigs, pullin and boat.
  8. Crappie were doing well this spring around the bridge between Carbondale and Marion. Son in law hits it. I bought Illinois license the summer I was off from radiation. I fished Randolph County Lake, Kinkaid, and Cedar. Did ok, but was not up to par and strong enough to give it much effort. Been meaning to buy the license and hit it again, but springs have been goofy wet and river roads have closed at the bridges. Then Covid hit this year and Illinois was really goofy.
  9. I actually have something totally different in mind. We have been fishing Tracker Panfish Specials with a jet on them. The front stick steer and stability is great on them. Never even felt like falling out of either of them. I want to go this route. https://www.alweld.com/stk-
  10. Its a canyon there and I have seen it rise tall. The drainage above bottlenecks around that area and spikes the gauge quick. After that, the river bottom opens up and spreads out.
  11. This guy would not even quote one.
  12. Well the new boat idea got nipped in the butt. Seems like Covid Shoppers have bought all of the existing boat stock, they have not been able to make more, and a aluminum shortage is looming on the horizon. Contacted an Alweld dealer to price out a 1752 STK Panfish build with a 60/40. It will be late winter or next year before they can get another hull. I think the motors are in short supply also. Everyone is buying boats.
  13. I always thought St. Louis was that way. When I moved into the dorm at college, I had the top bunk. My room mate from St. Louis used to tap the bong on the rail of my bed to wake me up.
  14. It happens. But usually there is some muddy water before the flood. Really did not see it coming??
  15. When they are hopping around like a plague of locusts all summer, they get annoying. Mower gets a lot of them.
  16. I hate the toads. Neighbor has a frog pond for his turds. We have big toads come thru in the spring and baby toads all summer like grasshoppers. If they would only eat the mosquitoes that dam thing breeds I could like them better. Tree frogs seem to find their way into alot of things here. i took apart a small engine on a mower I brought back from the farm and found one in the cowling. Had the engine started, that would have been a smelly mess. They like the boats, find them under the tarps alot.
  17. I have used cinder blocks or landscape timbers. Cheap and hold up well. Can you walk between 2 foot of room? Mine are that close with 16"x16" paver in between. Cinder blocks give you a good 8" of depth for soil and let you plant stuff in the cells if you fill them with dirt. Most of my cinder blocks have a strawberry plant in them to make some berries in the spring. I let other stuff grow in them too. The plants in the cells run out into the main bed and make new plants during the summer which I use for starter plants for new beds.
  18. Did you plant any of the seeds that the Chinese sent over in the mail?? I have no idea what that is.
  19. Current River is my closest stream. I think a 1752 with a 60/40 should get the job done better on those parts with the crowds.
  20. Btw, I gotta get a bigger boat too. Little boat needs to stay on 25hp streams.
  21. We were just goofin around with them, practicing for Pickwick. Last fall , I was fishing whacky worms well there below Doniphan. Those slow holes needed something deep.
  22. I took last Monday off and spent the day on Current River. Launched out of Doniphan shortly after daylight and fished it till noon heat came on down to State Line. Jet Boat races last weekend and was pretty sure the river was stirred up good. Caught several fish, but nothing big. By catches included a crappie, gizzard shad, and some nice goggle eyes. River up more than normal this time of year and moving good. Tubes and drop shot worms, rooster tails were working. Put back in at Big Springs and run down below spring in the afternoon. It was terrible. Ran back up river past Van Buren a few miles looking at all the floater traffic. Dropped back down and started fishing below town. Hit several fish back to ramp including a nice 18" smallmouth to finish the day. Back to the Big Spring access yesterday and run up to town in the morning. Drop shot finesse worms were working well until the boat traffic picked up, then all went dead. Did have a nice big smallie on at the upper end of the park but my buddy had a net failure and it got off. Little Social Distance was no match for all of the 40's running the river. Had 2 go round me at the same time, one port and one starboard that pushed water over the back end of the boat. Went touristing and scouting other ramps at Hunter and Bay Nothing. Took the hike to Hunter Cave, had not been there in 30 years. Back to Bay Nothing and a run up the river this morning. Nice day for a boat ride, saw lots of wildlife. River was stirred up and cloudy. Fishing pretty slow.
  23. That side knob is probably for parallex. Adjust for distance clarity. Harbor Freight has it going on. We will see how it survives when the China stuff fails to come over.
