  1. Honestly, I wish this forum didn't even have a political purgatory. And I wish OA was stricter about what's acceptable. I follow another forum and it's specifically forbidden to discuss politics or religion. Threads are deleted or locked quickly if it happens, but it's rare. Why? Because everyone knows and respects the rules and members self police. It's got a better vibe, tons of good information and better camaraderie. Don't ask me what forum it is -- that's not the point. I think the reason many of our best, most interesting and knowledgeable members don't post as much anymore is because of the nonsense here. IMO, a little tougher stance would make this a better place. And, if done right it wouldn't require daily intervention -- it would take care of itself after a while. Flame away...

    What's Cooking?

I wish I remembered @ness'lady's password. I could rack that like count up quick like!
  3. I had a dog and his name was Bingo. Same with people grumbling about the stuff they see in fishing and hunting groups on FB. Leave the group and poof -- he gone!

    What's Cooking?

A few recent ones. I bulk them up into one post so I can't be accused of fishing for likes. Which should be worth a couple extra likes Fried chicken, mashed taters, cream gravy and Iowa corn between the taters and gravy: My sister sends us a couple frozen pizzas from Lou Malnati's in Chicago each Christmas. Great tomatoes, crust and cheese. Not quite as good as fresh, but very good: Chicken pot, chicken pot, chicken pot pie: Did a whole brisket for Thanksgiving, froze the point and had it the other night (thawed): Love me some tots, or 'crowns' in this case:
  6. Are you saying people in the rubber room may be worse than they are out here?? Glad I never feel the need to go in there!
  7. OAFers, BEWARE! There are things in there you cannot unsee.
  8. My boss right out of school was a real hoot. He'd always make bets and if he lost it was always, 'Will you take an out of state, 2 party, post-dated check?' When you said no, he'd come back with, 'Alright, then just put it on your expense report.' , which I never did. It was harder to collect from him than it was some of our customers.
  9. Facebook is largely what you make it. I look at it every day, but very rarely post anything. I'm able to keep up with what's going on with friends, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins, etc. It's easy to 'snooze' somebody for a while if you're getting too much, unfollow them like Chief said, or block. When you block someone it's as if neither of you exist to the other. Everything stops, and old stuff goes away. FB does learn what you like and you'll get content / ads based on that. If you even slow down to look at something, FB knows it. If you click through, you'll definitely get repeats or similar ads or content. But, it's really easy to scroll by. You're basically getting what you ask for. A lot of the comments on the ads are hilarious. If you're on FB search for Tommy John underwear or Theragun and you'll get some pretty good laughs from those comments. And, you'll get more Tommy John and Theragun ads I don't follow any fishing or hunting groups, which is what I hear most people on here complaining about. The few groups I do follow are ones like 'You know you're from Independence' or 'Kansas City then and now', etc. Pretty tame with good moderators and interesting stuff comes up occasionally.

    Whatchya Drinking?

My mom grew up in PA and when we went back to visit my aunts always made sure we got birch beer, which was a treat for them when they were kids. Picked this up at an Amish store.
  11. @ColdWaterFshr please try and stay on topic ๐Ÿ˜„ Seriously, glad that got caught before it became a real problem!

    What's Cooking?

Look, I offered help to someone out of pity. That offer was to him alone. I canโ€™t do this for everybody. Youโ€™ll have to keep Googling for your comedy ๐Ÿ˜„

    What's Cooking?

Oh, I guess we can have a โ€˜likeโ€™ vote. And Iโ€™ll concede if needed. But you should try some new material. Iโ€™d be happy to help ๐Ÿ˜„

Another reach, but keep trying. Letterman made a career out of repeating stuff until it was finally funny. ๐Ÿคช

Sounds like you guys had another good time this year. One of these times I'm gonna get down there for this and meet you all. I've been to Capps many times for very short fishing stops -- always on the way down to Roaring River where the family had get-togethers for around 10-12 years ending about 5-6 years ago. But, I've never really fished it hard, and always right by the mill.
  19. I see the cucumber. I think.
  20. I just tee them up for you
  21. Thatโ€™s what makes me think itโ€™s probably man made ๐Ÿ˜„
  22. Ok, this is kinda freaking me out. Had one show up on my deck rail. I have no idea how it got there
  23. The press does that crap all the time. And as soon as the first report uses the 'cool' term it's nothing but echo after that. I smell a publicity stunt of some kind. Somebody said there were three books in the Space Odyssey series and the next is 2021. This has not been independently confirmed by nNN, the ness News Network.
  24. I appreciated that ๐Ÿ˜„
