  2. Fantastic report Devin! Enjoyed it and thanks for posting. Brings back many memories.
  3. Been eating red and yellow cherry tomatoes for a week now. There are two Arkansas travelers ready to pick today. Farmer neighbor has invited us to pick sweet corn.

    What's Cooking?

    Thanks a bunch Rick.
  5. Not pictures don't do them justice. Congrats Devan! We have caught them in Montana, Nevada, Idaho, and in Oregon. Both great basin and Columbia redbands are covered in those states.
  6. Been there done that many years and awaiting the day we can start again!
  7. Don't ya like dealing with a couple clowns?
  8. Oh, you rascal. Thanks, and I suppose you want me to find you another deal on and smoking two stroker? 🤪
  9. Hey @kjackson 😁 I will take the pliers. I may try to make it up your way to pick them up. in next week or so. Thanks, Marty
  10. Thanks Glen! I will get with Keith and make arrangements. Might be a good excuse to drive to Clinton and visit Everhearts. Too dang hot to do much outside. I know when it is cold enough you cannot work during the winter. Does your Evinrude Union contract have the same exemption for when it gets too hot?
  11. Beat me to them Wrench. I snoozed too long. Good buy!
  12. Way to go Daryk, I need to get back to the program but dang it's getting hot.
  13. Welcome back Pete! I agree nice fish.
  14. Telling @fishinwrench he has a bazillion spiders that have eight eyes each watching him in the shop will freak him out. I highly doubt they are dropping from the rafters but think they are hiding in every outboard cowling he opens up and they are ready to pounce on him :).
  15. Yea I agree in wondering what is going on. dead black widows are a good thing. Only thing I can think of that there is some effect from something you might be using in the shop that is killing them when you shout the shop up tight at night and they are getting fumigated? I would still carpet bomb the place if you haven't already like you said. Spiders do not bother me except for widows and recluses that can mess a guy up.

    What's Cooking?

Nothing special cooking but who we cooked for sure was. Mom's 94th birthday. She is in assisted living suffering from dementia. It's like a broken record visiting with her. Long term memory is starting to fail some, but she cannot remember short term stuff. We had to get permission to do this in building and was told to remove the hotplate. She has a small place with microwave, fridge, sink and place for coffee pot. She uses nothing there except the fridge to store some stuff she forgets is in there. Bless her heart. She says the food is not good there but always eats, not much but she eats. She can remember fishing and eating channel cat and likes it. sometimes my sisters bring in food to her and orders from a local place. When she did get out, we took her there. I would about gag smelling it when it hit the table it reminded me of a sewer smell. Stinkola I say. A few weeks back I had been catching channels on an irrigation lake stripping back woolly buggers on the fly rod. I kept six and filled them out trimming them up any red and any yellow. We took a package of three so six fillets a deep skillet and hot plate. Pat made slaw and baked beans. Told mom on phone we were bring lunch. This way she would not invite her friends to eat. We can only wrangle one old lady at a time. So, it was a big surprise and worked out well. She ate well and it tasted really good. One of the girls working there stuck her nose in the door and said the smell ran up the hall to the front where all the other little old men and ladies were eating in the cafeteria. Saying how good it smelled and they wanted fish. 😁 Good day happy birthday mom and thanks for raising me!
  18. You are spot on tjm on 5wt line. I made up a 9ft tapered leader quick and put a reel with WF 5. Casted really neat. Heavy and slow action just what we know those old rods like this did. Nice wide-open loops. I can get a bit over 50 ft. and I know this is not what is needed trout fishing anywhere around here or anywhere IMO just wanted to know what it would do. Now to get it on a fish.
  19. Red or orange? Might be a fish that has flushed the pellet feed color out of its system and getting the crustation feeding color to it?
  20. Yea! Paul is looking good.
  21. Measured it and its the 8.5 foot. No other markings except the oil advertising. @tjm is up to speed more than I am so I will start out with the 6 and 7wt lines for testing. Here is the handle and rod wraps.
  22. I have fell to that delema many times. Hobby lobby has cool stuff and I grab potential stuff and then not use it. Fighting the urge to buy stuff today while out on the hunt. Bought one bargain and passed on another should of got. I hope we go back that way. None fishing related at this time.
  23. Ok made a trip to Herman for a couple days visiting friends. We did a route to check out a couple antique/flea market places. Last stop was Rosebud. Found some old fly rods. Spotted One and the only markings was this sticker. Hastings oil filter cartridges. It's in fantastic condition. No breaks in the thread wraps, nada none. Some black gunk on the end eye that scrapes off. Get this price tag 5 dollars. I of course got a five spot out and no tax even. I did what I could to find anything about it. Found one listing where it said was a promotion for dealers that sold the Hastings products. What do you think @tjm? Think I will put an automatic fly reel on it and catch a fish. That would get my moneys worth.
  24. He got his kicks catching his 66
  25. I posted it in first post but see JD reposted it again.
